My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back - Chapter 211
Chapter 211: The lies and deception Chapter 211: The lies and deception “It seems your daughter is a carrier of problems,” Dylan snorted scornfully.
“How could things be okay when she is around?” Erica’s temper flared immediately at his insult.
“What do you mean?” Lydia, however, was unphased by Dylan’s harsh tone.
She raised a hand, silencing Erica before turning her full attention to Dylan.
“What did she do this time?” she asked with a grave tone, but her expression held a note of concern.
“Last night, I was at a bar, drinking.
She appeared and said she would take me home.” Dylan’s finger pointed straight at Erica as he launched into his accusation.
“But instead, she dropped me at a hotel, where a woman was waiting for me trying to seduce me.
And when I escaped, a guy attacked me and almost killed me.” “What?” Dylan’s words seemed to hit Lydia with the force of a freight train.
Her face immediately darkened, her gaze turning to Erica, the shock and disbelief evident in her eyes.
Erica parted her lips to defend herself, but Dylan spoke again.
“It’s all her doing.
She tried to set me up with that woman.
And she failed, she tried to kill me.” “Erica€¦” Lydia tugged at her arm, grounding her teeth.
“Is he telling the truth?” Erica, her heart pounding, shook her head frantically, her nerves pushing her into a frenzy.
“I€¦ I don’t know what he is talking about!” she cried out in desperation.
“I didn’t do anything.” “Really?” Dylan snapped back.
His voice grew louder, more forceful.
“You’re saying you didn’t take me out of the bar?
You didn’t lead me to that hotel?” He stepped closer to her with a challenge in his eyes, his anger rising.
Erica took a defensive stance.
“Yes, I took you out of the bar,” she admitted the part of the story she couldn’t deny.
“I wanted to take you home.
You kept saying you didn’t want to go back to Ava, that you had fought with Ava.
So, I thought I’d bring you here instead, but I never thought of taking you to the hotel.
Then something happened, and I left you outside the bar.” “You are lying,” Dylan barked, cutting through her explanation.
He clearly remembered getting into her car.
“You shoved me into your car,” he recounted.
“I stumbled into the backseat, and before I could even settle, you jerked the car forward.
I hit my head on the window.

By the time we got to the hotel, I was out cold.” Erica knew Dylan was unconscious at the time, and she thought of taking the opportunity to twist the fact.
Her statement would be valued over a drunken man’s rumbling.
“No, Mom, you have to trust me,” Erica reached for Lydia’s hand, clasping it tightly.
“I left him outside the bar because he puked on me.
I was disgusted and furious.
I couldn’t stand it.” Dylan gaped at her, disbelief written all over his face.
He had seen right through her attempt to cover her tracks.
“I left immediately,” Erica continued.
“I don’t know who took him from there and where he was taken.” Lydia was skeptical, hesitating to believe Erica.
She turned to Dylan and asked, “Did you puke?” “Yes, I did, but€¦” Before he could finish, Erica quickly interrupted him, “Look, Dylan, you were way too drunk last night.
You couldn’t even recognize me.
You must have misunderstood someone else for me.” He could hardly believe how easily she twisted the truth, trying to make him out to be the wrong one.
“Do you really think you can just say anything and make it sound like the truth?” he shot back, his voice low but seething.
“You thought I was drunk enough not to remember, but I do.
I remember everything that had happened last night.” “But I’m not lying,” she retorted.
“Why would I take you to a hotel?
It doesn’t make sense.” “Enough.” Lydia’s voice rang out sharply, silencing both Dylan and Erica.
“You are both at fault!” She fixed Dylan with a sharp look.
“You shouldn’t have gotten so drunk that you couldn’t recognize your own cousin,” she snapped, clearly disappointed.
“And you-why did you leave him alone?” Her gaze shifted to Erica, and her tone became even more heated.
“It was just vomit!
He could have been in grave danger because of your actions.
Do you understand the consequences of what you did?” Erica’s already pale face turned even paler.
She didn’t expect her mother would scold her.
In the past, her mother would have backed her up, but now€¦ this felt different.
What if Lydia started to believe Dylan and decided to send her away?
Her voice wavered with anxiety as she quickly spoke up, “I-I’m sorry, Mom.
I was wrong.
I shouldn’t have left him like that.
I was angry and didn’t think properly.” She glanced nervously at Dylan, hoping her words would soften the situation, but the anger in his eyes remained unyielding.
“Stop lying, Erica,” Dylan grumbled, his patience snapping.
“You were the one who took me to the hotel.” “Mom€¦” Erica tugged at her mother’s hand desperately.
“Say something.
You can’t let him bully me like this.
You know I’m telling the truth.” “You€¦” Dylan’s phone rang, cutting him short.
As he checked his phone, he saw Lilianna’s name.
It was only at this point he remembered today was the day Lilianna and Henry were leaving.
He couldn’t answer the call in front of them.
He needed to maintain control, or else Lilianna would sense the storm brewing around him.
“Don’t let me find out you’re involved.
You know what that will mean for you.” He shot one final, warning glare at Erica before walking quickly toward the door.
Once outside, he answered the call, trying to push the chaos from his mind.
“Sorry to disturb you so early,” Lilianna’s voice came through, calm and warm.
“But I couldn’t stop myself from calling you before we leave.
Our flight is in two hours.
Can you come to see us off at the airport?” Dylan let out a long breath, trying to ground himself.
“I’m on my way.” He ended the call and immediately climbed into his car, the engine roaring to life as he sped down the road.
Inside the mansion€¦ Lydia, her patience completely worn thin, jerked her arm away from Erica’s grasp.
“Stop lying now and tell me the truth,” she demanded coldly.
Erica, visibly rattled, tried to maintain composure.
“I am not lying,” she insisted, though her words betrayed her nervousness.
Lydia’s fury erupted.
“Shut up,” she bellowed.
“You can fool anyone else, but not me.
I’m your mother.
I know all your tricks.” Her hand shot out, grabbing Erica’s arm tightly.
“Tell me, what did you do this time?” She squeezed Erica’s arm tighter, making her wince.
