My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back - Chapter 212
Chapter 212: You lied to me.
Chapter 212: You lied to me.
“I-I was mad at him for sending me away from town,” Erica stuttered.
Her gaze flickered nervously, unable to meet Lydia’s sharp eyes.
“I wanted to teach him a lesson.
So I took him to a hotel€¦ and arranged for a woman to seduce him.” She paused, glancing at her as she tried to gauge her mother’s reaction.
“I thought it would create a rift between him and Ava, making her leave him immediately.
But,” she pouted, “my plan failed.” “Have you lost your mind?” Lydia snapped, jabbing her fingers against Erica’s forehead.
“How could you even think of doing such a reckless thing?
With all his power and influence, Dylan will uncover everything you’ve done.
Then he’ll deport you again, and there won’t be a damn thing I can do to save you.” “Don’t worry, he won’t find out,” Erica said firmly, trying to sound reassuring despite the fear in her heart.
“I made sure everything was taken care of.” “Erica,” Lydia grimaced, her frustration intensifying.
“When will you stop acting like a spoiled child?
I’m exhausted from cleaning up after your mistakes.
Your impulsiveness has already brought disaster to this family.
We’re still picking up the pieces from your last blunder.
And you didn’t learn anything.
When will you grow up?” She let out a deep, weary sigh.
“I’m not getting any younger.
I can’t keep saving you forever.
Dylan’s influence is growing stronger every day, and I can’t control him like I used to.
If you keep making reckless moves, you’ll end up in serious trouble.” “I know how to handle things,” Erica protested defiantly.
“Everything is under control.
This time, I’ll make sure Ava leaves Dylan for good.
Once I become the COO of the company, I’ll slowly take over the business and push Dylan out-out of the company and the family.” Lydia slapped Erica sharply across the arm.
“Don’t be so arrogant!” she scolded.
“Dylan isn’t someone you can deal with easily.
He is sharp, calculating, and determined.
If you keep underestimating him, he’ll expose you before you even realize it.” “Mom, I am also not stupid,” Erica said with a confident smile.
“I have my plan.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
The Brooks fortune and the company will soon be ours, and as for Dylan-he’ll be nothing more than a puppet dancing to our tune.” Erica’s confidence befuddled Lydia.
Her gaze sharpened as she scrutinized her daughter with doubts in her mind.
“Don’t act impulsively, Erica,” she warned her.
“Another mistake could land you in even greater trouble.
Don’t forget what happened to Gianna because of his retaliation.” With that, she stormed into her room, leaving Erica standing alone in the hallway.
“Humph!
This old woman €“ why can’t she trust me?” Erica muttered, stomping her feet in exasperation.
“I’m not a child anymore.
I know what I’m doing.” She crossed her arms defiantly.
“Soon enough, I’ll prove you wrong.
I’ll have it all-power, wealth, and control.” ~~~~~~~~~~~ Dylan arrived at the airport, his steps quickening as he spotted Lilianna and Henry near the terminal entrance.
“Dylan, you made it,” Lilianna said warmly, pulling him into a tight hug.
Tears glistened in her eyes.
“I’m going to miss you so much.” “Me too,” Dylan murmured, holding her close for a moment before stepping back.
Lilianna blinked away her tears and forced a smile.
“Promise me you’ll take care of yourself-and don’t give up on Ava.
I know it’s hard, but one day she’ll see how sincere you are.” Dylan’s smile was faint, tinged with doubt.
Ava’s continuous rejection had worn on him, leaving his confidence frayed.
“Don’t worry about me.
Focus on yourself and the baby.
That’s what matters now.” Lilianna chuckled lightly, nudging his arm.
“I know how to take care of myself and my baby.
Henry is here to take care of me.” She leaned on her husband’s shoulder, linking her arm with his.
Dylan turned his gaze to Henry.
“Take care of her.” “I will.” Henry stretched his arms and pulled him into his embrace.
“Did you get Thomas’s blood sample?” Dylan asked in a hushed tone.
“Yes.
I’ll let you know as soon as the results come in,” Henry whispered back.
As they pulled apart, both men exchanged a knowing look.
“Have a safe journey,” Dylan said.
Henry and Lilianna waved at him and turned toward the terminal.
Dylan watched them disappear into the bustling crowd.
His phone rang inside his pocket.
He fished out his phone and saw Justin calling him.
A frown crept onto his forehead as he thought Justin might have gotten the surveillance footage of the cafe.
With anticipation in his mind, he answered the call.
“Any update?” “Yes, I checked the footage of the café,” Justin replied, sounding anxious.
“You were right.
That was the hotel you were in last night.” Dylan’s jaw clenched.
“Meet me at the villa.” He strode toward the car and hopped in.
The car purred and sped off.
When Dylan arrived at the villa, he found Justin was already there, waiting for him.
Parking the car, he stepped out.
“Sir.” Justin moved toward him.
“I’ve brought the footage.” Dylan gave a curt nod.
“Let’s head inside.” The two men walked into the house.
Martha appeared from the kitchen, her face lighting up at the sight of Dylan.
“It’s good to see you here, sir,” she greeted warmly.
“Is Madam also coming?” Dylan paused, his features momentarily softening before returning to their usual stern demeanor.
“Ava is staying with her father for a few days.
Prepare breakfast, but don’t disturb us.
We’ll be leaving in an hour.” “Yes, sir,” Martha replied, her cheer dimming slightly as she disappeared back into the kitchen.
Dylan strode toward the study, his pace brisk.
Justin followed silently.
Once inside the study, Dylan pushed the door shut, sealing them in the room.
“Let’s see what you’ve found,” Dylan commanded as he settled on the sofa.
Justin stood stiffly, his gaze dropping to the floor with regret.
“I’m sorry, sir, for not trusting you at first,” he apologized.
“I thought you might have misunderstood the situation.
But after seeing the footage€¦ I was shocked.” Dylan let out a sharp scoff, leaning back into the plush sofa.
He crossed one leg over the other, his posture radiating authority and frustration.
“Now you trust me,” he said with biting sarcasm.
“I might have been drunk, but I remember what happened.
The problem is, I couldn’t make out their faces.” His fist slammed down on the armrest.
Justin swallowed under his fury.
He shifted nervously, hesitating before he spoke again.
“The man’s face wasn’t visible in the footage either.” Dylan snapped his head up.
“Are you serious?” “Uh, see for yourself,” Justin stammered, handing over a tablet.
Dylan took the device and began playing the video.
His jaw tightened as he watched Erica’s car pulling up at the hotel gate.
“Erica€¦You lied to me.” He continued watching, his attention snapping to the figure of a man approaching the car.
The man’s cap was pulled low, obscuring most of his face.
The next minute, he pulled out Dylan and dragged him inside the hotel.
“Damn it,” Dylan growled.
He rewound the footage, studying the grainy figure in the cap, but the obscured face offered no new clues.
