My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back - Chapter 248
Chapter 248: Spy camera Chapter 248: Spy camera Lydia’s lips tightened, and her expression turned unreadable.
“Mind your own business, Erica,” she said curtly.
“Don’t mess with my matters.” Erica’s eyes sparkled with mischief.
“You are so secretive,” she said, stepping closer.
“But I’m your daughter.
Don’t you think I should know about the big moves you’re making?” Lydia’s lips thinned.
“Mr.
Blair is none of your concern€¦And as for the land, it’s business-something you wouldn’t understand.
You should think about how to convince Dylan to let you work at the company again.” Erica swallowed, her boldness momentarily wavering.
Lydia picked up her bag.
“I’m going out for a party.
I won’t be returning until late.
Don’t go anywhere.” With that warning hanging in the air, she exited the room, her high heels clicking against the polished floor.
Erica stomped her feet as she glared at her departing form.
“You are going out, but you want me to stay home.
This is not going to happen.
I’ll also have fun.
But before that, I need to settle down some important matters.” She also left the house in a hurry.
Just as she got into her car and started the engine, her phone buzzed, the screen flashing with an unknown number.
She scowled, snatching the phone off the passenger seat.
“Who is this?” she barked.
“Temper, temper,” a smug voice drawled from the other end.
“Who got under your skin this time?” Erica recognized the voice.
Her mood, already on edge, darkened further.
“Why are you calling me?” Rylee chuckled mockingly.
“Still no money in my account.
My patience is wearing thin.
If you keep stalling, I’ll have no choice but to visit Dylan.” “You gave me a week,” Erica shot back.
“Well, I changed my mind,” Rylee countered smoothly.
“I’m not in the mood to wait.” “You!” “Are you giving me the money or not?” Erica bit back her words, seething with frustration.

“Fine,” she spat.
“You’ll have your money tomorrow.” “You’d better,” Rylee warned.
“Or you know what happens next.” Beep.
Erica tossed the phone onto the passenger seat with a growl.
“Bastard,” she hissed through clenched teeth.
“You think you can blackmail me?
Just wait until I get my hands on that evidence-you’ll regret ever crossing me.” On the other end, Rylee turned to Dylan, who sat beside him, calm and composed.
“She’ll transfer the money tomorrow,” he informed him.
Dylan gave a curt nod.
“Good work, Rylee.
Once this is settled, you’ll be rewarded.” “Thank you, Mr.
Brooks, but I’m not looking for more money.
What I really want is my job back.
Please give me another chance-I swear I won’t disappoint you this time.” Dylan thought for a while.
“Alright.
You can return to the company.” Rylee smiled, grateful.
“Thank you, sir.
Thank you so much.
I won’t let you down.” Dylan stood, adjusting the cuffs of his tailored suit with precision.
“Contact Justin before meeting her.
He’ll make the necessary arrangements for your safety.
Don’t take any chances.” He left the room.
~~~~~~~~ Ava entered the sophisticated ambiance of the high-end restaurant.
She spotted the table Lola had reserved but noticed her friend hadn’t arrived yet.
Settling into her seat, Ava instinctively reached for her phone, her eyes scanning the live feed from the spy camera in her office.
No movement.
No suspicious activity.
Yet.
“Ma’am, what would you like to order?” A gentle voice interrupted her thoughts.
Ava looked up to see a waitress standing by.
“I’m waiting for someone,” she replied with a polite smile.
“Sure ma’am.” The waitress nodded graciously and walked away.
Ava’s gaze caught a familiar figure on the other side of the room.
Her brows furrowed with astonishment.
“Lydia!” Her eyes darted to the man seated across from Lydia.
They were laughing softly, their hands clasped across the table.
The way their eyes lingered on each other suggested more than mere acquaintanceship.
“Who is he?” Ava’s thoughts raced.
“Is Lydia involved with this man?” Questions ran into her mind, making her restless.
She quickly lifted her phone, angling the camera discreetly.
Snap.
Snap.
A few photos were captured.
“This might be useful,” she thought, her lips curling into a sly smile.
Before Ava could process her next move, Lydia and the man rose from their seats.
They shared another warm smile before heading toward the exit.
Ava quickly stood and followed Lydia and her mysterious companion.
Her eyes remained fixed on their retreating figures as they turned down a hallway.
Determined to uncover more, she hastened her pace, only to collide head-on with a tall figure.
“Ouch,” she winched as her hand shot up to her throbbing nose.
She looked up, her scowl sharp, only to be met by a pair of familiar green eyes.
“You?” she blurted with surprise.
“What are you doing here?” Ava was taken aback to see Dylan there.
He was supposed to stay at home, taking rest.
What made him come to this hotel?
Dylan stood before her, his expression equally startled.
“I could ask you the same thing.
Weren’t you supposed to be at the office?” Ava blinked, still dazed.
“I asked you first,” she replied defensively.
“Why are you here?
You are supposed to be resting.
You are not fully recovered, and the doctor told you to stay home for five days.” Dylan shrugged.
“I was resting, but I got bored.
So I came out to meet a friend.” “What friend?” Ava’s eyes narrowed in suspicion.
The memory of the lipstick mark on his shirt surfaced, and her stomach twisted with jealousy.
‘Was he meeting a woman?’ “I met with Rylee.” “Oh€¦” Ava’s tense shoulders relaxed, her resentment vanishing.
“You still haven’t explained why you’re here.” Ava’s lips curled into a smile.
“Lola just got back, and we planned to have dinner together.” “I see.” Dylan nodded, the playful glint in his eyes returning.
“How about I join you?
I’m starving and craving something spicy.” “Spicy?” Ava raised an incredulous eyebrow.
“Did you forget what happened the last time you ate spicy food?” Dylan chuckled, undeterred.
“I haven’t forgotten, but I’ve had enough of congee and boiled vegetables.
I want something bold-crispy and spicy.” Ava shook her head, a small laugh escaping her lips.
“Fine, but don’t come crying to me later when you regret it.” “Deal,” he said with a grin.
Together, they went into the restaurant.
Once they reached the table and took their seats, she finally remembered Lydia with that man.
“Oh, shit.” A flicker of anxiety crossed her face.
Dylan, who had just begun to scan the menu, froze for a moment.
“What happened?” “I was following Lydia.
She was with a man.” Ava pulled out her phone, swiping through the screen until she found the photo she had taken earlier.
She handed it to him.
“Take a look.” Dylan took the phone.
His expression shifted, something darker flashing in his eyes as he stared at the photo of Lydia and the unknown man.
“What do you think this means?” Ava asked.
