My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back - Chapter 249
Chapter 249: Are you jealous?
Chapter 249: Are you jealous?
“Do you know who that man is?” Ava asked.
Dylan ran his mind.
He had a feeling that he had seen that man somewhere, but he couldn’t remember where he had seen him.
His frustration was palpable, and Ava’s curiosity only deepened.
“She seemed quite close to him,” she remarked.
She couldn’t shake the image of Lydia’s bright smile and the way she held that man’s hands.
“For a moment, I thought he might be her boyfriend.
Do you think that’s possible?” Dylan opened his mouth to respond, but before he could say a word, a voice chimed in from behind.
“Whose boyfriend?” Both Dylan and Ava looked up in unison to see Lola standing there, her mischievous smile lighting up her face.
“I didn’t know you were bringing Dylan,” Lola teased, her gaze shifting between the two.
“What a surprise.” “Lola, you’re finally here!” Ava exclaimed, jumping to her feet and wrapping her friend in a warm hug.
“It’s so good to see you.” Lola hugged her back, leaning in to whisper, “What’s going on?
You are with Dylan?
Have you two…
reconciled?” “It’s a long story,” Ava whispered back.
“I’ll tell you later.” They broke apart, but their hands remained clasped.
“I missed you,” Lola said.
“I missed you too.” “Ahem,” Dylan cleared his throat, drawing their attention.
“I am also here.” Both ladies turned to him before taking their seats.
Lola’s eyes glued to him.
“It’s rare to have you around.
I mean, you are always busy with work, never really have time to go out, let alone have dinner with Ava.” “The past is in the past,” Dylan said.
“It has nothing to do with the present.
Well, we can learn from our mistakes and change for good.” “Wise words,” Lola mused, her eyes never leaving him.
“You never talked so sweetly before.” “Is that so?” Dylan smirked.
“Aren’t you hungry?” Ava asked, drawing their attention.
“I’m ordering the food.” She snatched up the menu and checked it.
Dylan’s lips curled into a mischievous smirk as he caught the faint glimmer of jealousy in Ava’s eyes.

It was a rare sight, and he couldn’t resist the urge to tease her a bit.
“I’m starving too,” he announced.
Then, with deliberate intent, he turned to Lola.
“What would you like to eat, Lola?” As expected, Ava’s sharp glare shot across the table, but Dylan feigned ignorance, his eyes focused on the menu.
He leaned slightly toward Lola and showed her the menu, enough to make her blush.
“I-I think this,” Lola stammered, pointing at the curry bowls on the menu.
“I’ve heard they are amazing.” “Curry bowls?” Dylan said, feigning surprise.
“I haven’t tried those yet.
Let’s go for it.” Lola’s face lit up with a pleased smile, clearly flattered by his agreement.
“You won’t regret it,” she said with a cheerful nod.
Ava’s simmering annoyance reached its peak.
Her face flushed with a mix of red and blue.
Her chest rose and fell with her barely contained indignation.
She delivered a swift kick to Dylan’s shin.
“Ow!” Dylan flinched, his head snapping toward her, eyes wide with surprise.
“What is it?” Lola asked, surprised and confused.
“Nothing,” Dylan replied quickly, masking his grimace with a forced smile.
“So, Ava,” he continued with playful curiosity, “what about you?
What are you ordering tonight?” “Broccoli rabe.” Ava’s mouth was already bitter.
She wouldn’t be able to digest anything but the bitterness.
Dylan’s eyes twinkled with amusement, though he tried to look serious.
To add to her fury, he pretended to be surprised and asked, “Are you sure?
Only broccoli?
It will leave your mouth bitter.” “That’s exactly what I want,” Ava retorted, faking a smile.
“It suits my mood perfectly.” Raising her hand, Ava signaled the waitress.
When the waitress approached, she gave her order crisply.
Dylan barely held back his laughter, his shoulders shaking slightly.
Ava’s jealousy was both amusing and endearing.
He watched her with undisguised fondness as she sat stiffly, her lips pursed, her fiery spirit burning brightly across the table.
After placing his order, Dylan made sure to sneak in an additional dish-grilled chicken, Ava’s favorite.
He knew her too well; there was no way she’d be satisfied with just broccoli.
“I’ll have white wine,” Lola added.
“What about you, Ava?” “Red wine,” Ava replied briskly.
The waitress scribbled down their orders quickly.
“Your food will be served soon.” Flashing a polite smile at them, she walked away.
As soon as the waitress was gone, Ava rose abruptly.
“I’m going to the restroom.” Dylan watched her retreating figure, a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips.
He could sense her frustration.
Though he enjoyed teasing her, a part of him wanted to smooth things over.
Lola, on the other hand, sipped her water, sensing Ava’s tension.
A shadowy figure followed Ava, her hand gripping the handle of a knife hidden deep in her pocket, her heart pounding with grim determination.
It was Gianna.
She had followed Ava for weeks, waiting for the perfect moment to fulfill her deadly promise to Erica.
But she had failed to find the right opportunity to carry out her plan.
Tonight, the stars seemed to align.
Her dark eyes fixed on Ava’s retreating figure.
“This is it,” Gianna muttered under her breath.
“Tonight, you die, and I vanish without a trace.” She quickened her pace.
But just as she was about to close the distance, a voice echoed down the hall.
“Ava, wait.” Gianna froze, her pulse spiking in frustration as Lola appeared out of nowhere, rushing toward Ava.
“I am coming with you,” Lola called, catching up to Ava with ease.
Gianna’s teeth clenched, her plan unraveling before her eyes.
“Damn it,” she hissed, pressing herself against the wall, hidden in the shadows.
A bitter scowl crossed her face as she watched Ava and Lola enter the restroom together.
“You are lucky, bitch.
But you won’t be lucky every time.” She turned and sneaked away without catching anyone’s attention.
Inside the restroom€¦ Lola leaned against the sink as she spoke dreamily.
“Wow!
Who knew Dylan had this playful side?
He is so charming.
Honestly, Ava, if you are truly over him, do you mind if I€¦ you know€¦ try my luck?
He is single, after all.” “Don’t dare,” Ava snapped, her insides burning.
“He will leave you wounded.
Don’t fall for his handsome look.
He is heartless.” Lola straightened, her dreamy smile faltering but not entirely fading.
“You are wrong.
People change.
He is not the same man who hurt you.
He is sweet and considerate-nothing like what you are saying.” She clasped her hands together, her eyes sparkling with hope.
Ava silently clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms.
Every word Lola spoke felt like a dagger to her chest.
She wished she could yell at her, curse her, and snap her out of her dream.
“You don’t know him like I do,” she snapped, her voice rising slightly.
“His sweetness is an act.
You’ll end up broken.” Lola’s brows knitted in mild annoyance.
“Why are you being so bitter?
What he did to you was bad.
But it’s all in the past.
Now he has changed, and I can see it.
What’s the problem if I pursue him?
He is single, and so am I.
We can date.
Are you jealous?”
