My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back - Chapter 250
Chapter 250: I want to date Dylan.
Chapter 250: I want to date Dylan.
Ava’s jaw clenched as she bit down on her lip to keep from shouting.
The truth was, jealousy burned fiercely in her, knotting her stomach and clouding her thoughts.
She never imagined that one day she might have to guard her love from her best friend.
Lola’s gaze softened but remained defiant.
“I think you’re holding onto the past too tightly.
Maybe it’s time to let go.” Ava felt her heart twist painfully.
“If you even think about him, you won’t be my friend anymore,” she warned.
“Stay away from him.” “Uh€¦” Lola’s breathing hitched, her expression morphing from shock to disbelief.
Her jaw hung open for a moment before she narrowed her eyes, scrutinizing Ava with a piercing gaze.
“You’d throw away years of friendship just because I want to date Dylan?” She paused, her mind working through the situation.
“You are not upset because you are worried about me.” Her tone turned accusatory.
“You are jealous-one hundred percent jealous.
You still love him, don’t you?” She tugged at her arm and exclaimed, “Why are you pretending as if you don’t like him?” Ava flinched, her facade cracking.
She tugged her arm free and turned her face away.
“I-I€¦ It’s not like that.
I’m just worried about you.
I don’t want you to get hurt.” Her lips pressed into a tight pout, but her eyes betrayed the storm of emotions she was trying to suppress.
“Oh, really?” Lola could see through her pretense.
‘You are a terrible liar, Ava,’ she thought smugly.
‘Let’s see how long you can keep this up.’ “Don’t worry about me,” Lola said aloud as she forced a wide grin.
“I can handle myself.
Even if he flirts with me and moves on, I won’t mind.
Honestly, just being the girlfriend of someone as handsome and successful as Dylan feels like a privilege.” Her eyes sparkled with feigned innocence, but the undertone of challenge was unmistakable.
Ava’s heart clenched as she watched Lola’s dreamy expression, feeling as though the ground beneath her was slipping away.
She wished she could knock her head.
“Dylan won’t date you,” Ava snapped.
“He promised my father to take care of me.
He won’t disappoint him.” “It’s not a big deal.” Lola waved dismissively.

“I’m not narrow-minded.
I won’t stop him from taking care of my best friend.” She applied her lipstick, painting her lips into a deeper shade of red.
She pressed her lips together and then released them.
“Dylan must be waiting for me.
I can’t wait to confess my feelings for him.” Lola flashed a teasing smile at Ava before storming out of the restroom.
‘Confession?’ Ava’s brain charged up.
Her fingers rolled into fists unconsciously.
‘How could she do that?
Isn’t she my best friend?
How can she steal my husband from me?’ Furious, she hurried after her.
When she came back to their table, she saw Lola and Dylan leaning close, their heads tilted toward each other, sharing hushed words and smiles that felt too intimate for Ava’s liking.
They looked like they couldn’t stay away from each other.
The scene added to Ava’s ire, her blood boiling.
She stomped her feet and settled down on her seat, glaring at them.
But they barely noticed her and continued murmuring something.
Dylan chuckled softly, his gaze fixed on Lola, who was batting her lashes and twirling a strand of her hair with a coy smile.
Ava’s blood boiled, her mind racing with indignation.
‘How dare she?’ Her lips pressed into a thin line.
‘My best friend?
Flirting with him?’ Ava’s glare burned into them, her chest rising and falling with each breath.
Still, they remained oblivious.
Unable to bear it any longer, Ava slammed her hand on the table.
“Are you two done with your little tête-à -tête, or should I come back later?” Her voice was tight with suppressed rage.
In the meantime, the waiter arrived with plates of steaming food, placing each dish on the table with precision.
“Perfect timing,” Dylan declared, his face lighting up as he picked up a knife and fork.
He expertly cut a few tender slices of steak and placed them on Lola’s plate.
“I ordered this just for you.
Hope you like it.” Lola’s face flushed with delight.
“You’re so sweet, Dylan.
If I’d known this charming side of you, I wouldn’t have hesitated to date you long ago.” On the other hand, Ava tightened her grip on her wine glass, glaring at Dylan’s radiant smile.
‘He never smiled at me like that,’ she thought bitterly, taking a long sip of her wine.
The taste felt sharp and acidic against her tongue.
Dylan and Lola continued their animated conversation, laughter occasionally spilling between bites.
Ava felt herself sinking deeper into the background, her irritation boiling into resentment.
They seemed utterly unaware of her, like she was invisible-an unwelcome third wheel.
For a moment, she thought she would leave, but she feared Dylan would go with Lola.
She continued drinking wine glass after glass, and soon her cheeks were flushed, her movements slightly less steady.
Noticing Ava’s flushed cheeks, Dylan held her hand and stopped her from drinking further.
“That’s enough, Ava,” he said firmly.
“You’ve had plenty.” She yanked her hand away.
“Why do you care?
It’s my choice.
I’ll drink as much as I damn well please.” Lola sighed, looking at her stubbornness.
“It’s getting late.
I think I should head out.” Dylan nodded.
“Thanks for joining us tonight, Lola.” He flashed a grateful smile.
“Drive safely.” Lola gathered her things and glanced at Ava one last time before leaving the table.
When Ava noticed Dylan smiling at Lola again, she felt a fresh wave of anger simmering within her.
She picked up the wine bottle again and tilted it to pour more wine in her glass, but nothing came out.
She shook the empty wine bottle, her frustration spilling out.
“Why is it empty?” she slurred, slamming the bottle onto the table.
“I need more.” Dylan stood and rounded the table, pulling Ava gently to her feet.
“That’s enough, Ava.
Time to go home.” She staggered, barely able to balance as she leaned heavily into him.
His arms instinctively wrapped around her, steadying her swaying frame.
But she pushed him away.
“I can walk on my own.” Her head spun slightly as she walked away, her steps unsteady.
But she managed to make her way toward the exit.
Dylan trailed behind silently, his watchful gaze never leaving her.
