My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back - Chapter 257
Chapter 257: The demand of money Chapter 257: The demand of money Erica felt humiliated.
She curled her fingers into tight fists, anger unfurling inside her.
She shot him a venomous glare.
“Am I nothing more than a plaything to you?” Luke paused in the middle of buttoning up his shirt.
“Don’t act so pure.
You came to this party willingly.
Did you really think this was a tea party?
Look around-do you not see what kind of place this is?” Erica looked away.
She had seen people drinking, taking drugs, and having sex around.
She regretted coming there in the first place.
She wouldn’t have come to meet him if she hadn’t needed money.
“I didn’t come here for this,” she bit out.
Luke snorted, his expression oozing condescension.
“You wouldn’t have shown up here if you were so innocent.
You actually want me to play with you.
That’s why you messed with me.
Now stop this fucking act.” Erica slipped up her panties and got to her feet.
The sting of his tone cut deep, but she refused to let him see how much it affected her.
Her eyes burned with a mix of shame and fury.
” I did what you asked.
I delivered what you wanted,” she spat.
“You owe me the rest of the payment, and I’m not leaving until I get it.” He chuckled bitterly.
“You are so much in need of money.
It’s absurd.
Why did you come to me?
Go and ask Dylan.
He is your cousin.” “I’m not here to play games.” Erica’s voice dropped to a venomous hiss as she stepped closer.
“I risked everything to get that confidential information from the company.
Now it’s your turn to fulfill your promise.” “And what assurance do you have that those reports are legitimate?” he countered, a smug smirk on his lips.
“Can you prove the bidding report you sent me is the final version?

What if it is a fake one?” Her frustration bubbled over, her tone rising.
“I know it is.
Isn’t that enough?
I took it straight from Ava’s office.
Do you have any idea how risky that was?” Luke had already determined not to pay her any money until his company won the bidding.
His smirk hardened into a cold grin as he assessed her.
“I’ve already given you half the money,” he reminded her.
“And all you have provided so far is a soft copy.
Where is the hard copy?” Erica’s resolve was unwavering.
“You’ll get the hard copy when you transfer the rest of the money.” Luke waved her off dismissively.
“Then forget it.
We can manage with the soft copy.” He turned to leave.
“Luke!” Erica’s impatient voice rang out.
“Don’t think you can fool me.
I can go straight to Dylan and tell him the company’s confidential documents have been leaked.
There is still time for him to draft a fresh bidding proposal.
If he does that, your chances of winning the project will plummet.
You might even lose it altogether.” Her words stopped Luke in his tracks.
He turned his head slightly, his features twisting in rage.
“Go ahead, tell him everything.
But remember, I’ll expose you too.” He faced her fully, pinning her with a fierce glare.
“Think about what your dear cousin will do when he finds out you betrayed him.
Jail might just be the beginning.” Erica recoiled, her confidence faltering under the weight of his words.
She felt a cold wave of dread wash over her.
Her position was precarious-she couldn’t afford to cross him, not yet.
Her mind raced for a way out.
Before she could say something to pacify him, he scoffed mockingly, “Ah, there it is.
The look of someone who knows they’re trapped.” He reached into his pocket, pulled out a wad of cash, and tossed it at her.
The bills fluttered in the air before landing haphazardly around her.
“Take this.
For the entertainment you provided.
If you are desperate for more, come back tomorrow.
With that, he whirled and stormed away.
Erica stood frozen, staring at the crumpled bills scattered on the floor.
Rage boiled within her, her humiliation burning brighter with each second.
She glared daggers at his retreating figure.
“Luke, you’ll pay for this humiliation.
I’ll make sure of it.” As Erica stepped out of the club and walked briskly toward her car, a sudden hand clamped tightly over her mouth.
She panicked as she was yanked back, a strong arm wrapping around her waist, dragging her away.
Erica thrashed violently, muffled cries escaping her sealed lips, but the grip was unyielding.
No matter how fiercely she struggled, she was powerless to stop the assailant from hauling her into the darkness of a waiting van.
The door slammed shut, and the vehicle roared to life, speeding away.
Erica’s chest heaved as she gasped for air, her body trembling uncontrollably.
But when she turned to face the man beside her, her terror was momentarily replaced by shock.
“You!” she exclaimed, shock and disbelief mingling in her face.
“Why did you do this?
You could’ve just called me-I would have come to you.” The man’s expression was unreadable, save for the dangerous glint in his eyes and the scar on his forehead, which seemed to twitch ominously.
“Is that so?” His voice was cold and sharp.
“You owe me millions, Erica, and yet you have been cozying up to another man for money.” He lunged forward, his hand grabbing her jaw with bruising force, tilting her face toward him.
“Are you tired of living?” Erica pushed his hand away, fury and fear colliding within her.
“I wouldn’t have gone to Luke if you hadn’t abandoned me!
I called you, begged for help, and you hung up on me.
You don’t care about me.
All you care about is your damn money!” Her words only fueled his rage.
He shoved her back against the seat, his hands encircling her throat.
“Why do you need so much money, huh?” he growled.
“I cleared your debts, Erica!
I never forced you to pay me back.
And yet, you ran off to that bastard.
What’s wrong with you?
Am I not enough for you?” Erica gasped, clawing at his hands as she choked out, “Get off me!
I’m not your girlfriend!
You don’t own me-you can’t dictate who I see or where I go.” The man let out a low, derisive snort, his lips curling into a malicious smile.
“So that’s how it is, huh?
Fine.
No more playing nice.
You have two days to return my money.
If you don’t€¦” He paused dramatically, pulling out his phone.
With a flick of his thumb, he played a video.
Erica froze.
Her heart sank into her stomach as the screen lit up with footage of her and Luke in the club, their most intimate moments captured in damning detail.
Her face turned ashen, and her hands flew to her mouth in shock.
“Surprised, are you?” he sneered.
“I was just as shocked when I found out you were cozying up to Luke in that hotel.
Since then, I’ve been keeping tabs on you.
And now€¦” He waved the phone, the threat in his eyes unmistakable.
“I catch you with him.”
