My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back - Chapter 263
Chapter 263: The interrogation Chapter 263: The interrogation Dylan glanced at Justin and gave him a subtle nod.
Understanding the signal, Justin stepped forward and held his phone up in front of Nina’s face, his expression grim.
A video began to play, the surveillance footage showing her sneaking into Ava’s office.
Nina’s face turned ashen as her eyes fixed on the screen.
She hadn’t anticipated that Dylan would have checked the footage.
“You sneaked into Ava’s office when no one was there,” Dylan said coldly.
“What were you doing?” Nina’s fear threatened to consume her, but she forced herself to stay composed.
She reminded herself that the surveillance cameras didn’t cover what had happened inside the office.
They had no concrete evidence of her actions there.
“Yes,” she admitted, lifting her chin in defiance.
“I went into her office.
I thought she was still working, but I left when I didn’t find her.” “You are claiming you didn’t do anything inside my office?” Ava interjected.
Nina squared her shoulders, meeting her gaze confidently.
“No.
I simply walked out when I realized you weren’t there.” Ava let out a low, derisive chuckle as she stared Nina down.
“I wasn’t aware you had such a convenient case of forgetfulness.” Her words dripped with sarcasm.
“Do you not remember stealing confidential information?” Nina stiffened, her throat tightening.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she retorted, though the tremor in her voice betrayed her growing unease.
“You are accusing me without any evidence.” “Oh, but I do have proof.
Would you like to see it?” Ava challenged.
Nina’s chest heaved as fear tightened its grip around her heart.
She clenched her fists, trying to suppress the rising dread.
“You’re bluffing,” she muttered.
But when Ava held up her phone and pressed play, her world seemed to crash around her.
The recording left no room for denial.
The video clearly showed Nina rifling through Ava’s desk, pulling out confidential documents, and snapping photos.
Her blood ran cold.
Her defiance melted into sheer terror, and she sank further to the ground, visibly trembling.
Ava’s lips curled into a sneer as she watched Nina’s composure crumble.
“I knew someone would try to frame me as a traitor, that someone would claim I was colluding with the Bakers.

I wasn’t going to let that happen, so I took precautions.” She gestured to her phone with a satisfied smirk.
“I installed a spy camera in my office for this very reason.
But I didn’t expect you to be the one betraying us.” She set the phone aside, leaning forward with a menacing calmness.
Her fingers interlocked as her elbows rested on her knees.
“You are the mole.
You stole confidential information and handed it over to our rival.
And now, you are going to face the consequences.” Ava straightened, her gaze shifting to Justin.
“Inform the board members about her betrayal,” she commanded firmly.
“And call the police.
She is going to pay for this.” Nina’s panic hit its peak.
“No!
Please, don’t call the cops!” she cried with desperation.
“I admit it-I was wrong!
I did it!
But I was forced to-please, listen to me!” Ava and Dylan shared a pointed glance.
Then, they turned their attention back to Nina.
“It’s Erica,” Nina blurted.
“She told me to do it.” Ava’s lips curled into a cold sneer.
“Blaming someone else now?” She knew Erica was likely behind it all, but she wanted Nina to crack completely, where she wouldn’t think of lying or hiding anything.
“You think this is a clever move?” she added.
“You are the one in the footage, Nina.
Do you really believe you can lie your way out of this?” Nina shook her head vigorously, tears welling in her eyes.
“I’m not lying.
Erica forced me to do it.” “And why would she do that?” Ava pressed.
“She hates you,” Nina confessed.
“She has always wanted the COO position, but her dream has never been realized.
And when she found out you became COO, her bitterness only grew.
She wanted to destroy you-your reputation, your career.
That’s why she spread those lies about you being a spy and tried to convince the directors to turn against you.” She moved in close to Ava, her hands clutching at her knees.
“Please, you have to believe me,” she begged.
“She is the one behind everything.
I was just following orders because€¦” Nina trailed off, her head hanging down.
A faint sob escaped her mouth.
“Because I didn’t have a choice.” Her voice was barely audible.
“My husband€¦he was diagnosed with stomach cancer.
The treatment is so expensive, and we couldn’t afford it.
Then Erica offered me money in exchange for my help.
I couldn’t say no.” She lifted her face slightly, her red-rimmed eyes locking onto Ava’s.
“I’m sorry.
I was desperate.” Ava studied Nina intently.
She could see the truth in Nina’s desperate confession.
Despite her anger, a pang of sympathy tugged at her.
She glanced at Dylan, her eyes silently asking for guidance.
Dylan reached out and placed his hand over her.
“Your circumstances may explain your actions, but they don’t absolve you,” he said sharply.
“Taking money from Erica, following her orders-it might have been because of your dire situation.
But you didn’t stop there.
You went out of your way to humiliate Ava, to steal confidential information, knowing it would harm this company.
That can’t be overlooked.” “Please, Mr.
Brooks,” Nina cried, tears streaming down her face.
“Don’t hand me over to the police.
My husband has no one else.
He needs me!” “It’s too late.” Dylan’s expression didn’t soften.
“You should have thought of the consequences before betraying me.
Did you really think you could deceive me and get away with it?” Nina’s sobs grew louder as despair overtook her, her shoulders shaking.
“What you’ve done can’t be ignored, Nina.
You deserve to be punished,” Ava chimed in.
But then her tone softened, a glimmer of compassion shining through.
“However, your husband doesn’t deserve to suffer for your mistakes.
We’ll ensure his treatment continues.” Nina glanced up at her with disbelief, but a flicker of hope sparked in her eyes.
“Y-you would really do that?” she stammered.
“Take care of his treatment?” “Yes, but it depends on your action,” Ava said calculatedly.
“You’ll continue working with Erica as if nothing has changed.
Pretend you are still loyal to her, but you’ll report everything she is planning to us.
Do that, and we’ll ensure your husband gets the care he needs.”
