Chapter 265: You are impossible to resist.
Dylan’s eyes met hers, and hope fluttered in his chest.
“Do you really mean it?” he asked, his heart pounding with anticipation.
Ava nodded.
“I’ve been thinking…
maybe trying again wouldn’t be so bad.
But I need to take things slow.
Don’t pressure me into marriage.
Promise me that.” Relief and joy mingled on his face as he reached out, his fingers brushing lightly against hers before intertwining.
“The fact that you’re willing to give us another chance means everything to me.
Take all the time you need-I’ll wait as long as it takes.
Forever, if I have to.” Ava felt her defenses faltering.
For the first time in a long while, she saw a glimpse of the man she had once loved so deeply in his eyes.
Her heart betrayed her, quickening its pace.
Dylan’s hand moved to her cheek, his thumb brushing softly against her skin.
“Thank you,” he murmured, leaning over to kiss her.
But before their lips could meet, the chatter of voices shattered the intimate moment.
They pulled back abruptly, their heads turning toward the sound.
A group of elderly people, armed with walking sticks and light laughter, meandered into the park.
“Of all the timing,” Dylan groaned under his breath, disappointed and irritated.
Ava bit her lip, trying to stifle a laugh.
She glanced at him, and the corners of her mouth betrayed her amusement.
Trying to shift gears, Dylan rubbed his thigh awkwardly and glanced at her.
“You know, I’m starting to get hungry.
How about you?
I know a place that serves some great food.
Let’s go there.” Ava’s lips twitched as she tried to hold back her smile.
She nodded, letting him lead the way as they left the park.

As the door clicked shut behind them, Dylan reached for Ava’s hand, stopping her mid-step.
She turned, startled.
Her heart skipped a beat as she was met with the intensity of his gaze.
“What are you doing?” she asked quietly.
“Can I stay in your room tonight?” he asked huskily.
Warmth crept up her cheeks.
She looked down, her fingers toying with the edge of her sleeve.
“No,” she murmured, though the slight quiver in her tone betrayed her true feelings.
“Why not?” He grew impatient.
“You agreed to give us a second chance, didn’t you?” “Yes, but we are divorced,” she reminded him.
He twirled her with a swift pull and pinned her against the wall.
“The cooling-off period is not over yet.
Our divorce is not finalized.
So, practically, you are still my wife.” Her hands pressed lightly against his chest, but there was no resistance in her eyes, only a teasing glint.
“You’re so impatient,” she said, a faint smile tugging at her lips.
He tilted her chin upward with a finger.
“Can you blame me?” he rasped, his lips brushing against the corner of her mouth.
“You are impossible to resist.” Her breath hitched, her hands slipping up to curl around his tie.
She gave it a playful tug, pulling him closer.
“You’re not just saying that, are you?” Dylan groaned, the hunger in his eyes unmistakable.
“Do you think I’d lie about this?” He could barely hold back the desire bubbling inside him, his self-control fraying as her warmth enveloped him.
Her lips curved into a sly smile as she leaned into his ear.
“Then go and wait for me in the room.” Her voice was soft yet tantalizing.
His restraint snapped for a moment.
With a low growl, he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her flush against him.
“You’re driving me insane.” His lips claimed hers in a passionate, urgent kiss, pouring his longing and desire into the connection.
Gianna crouched in the dark room, trembling with rage as she watched the scene unfold.
Her nails dug into her palms, her hatred for Ava deepening.
“This bitch is unbearable,” she hissed.
“She thinks she can steal him away from me.
Dylan is mine.
He has always been mine.” The fury coursing through her veins burned like an inferno.
“Hold on,” Ava stopped him, her hands brushing his shoulders.
“Impatience is not good.
Wait for me in the room.
I won’t keep you waiting for long.”.
Dylan let out an exaggerated sigh.
“The wait is killing me.
Why are you making me wait?” Ava’s cheeks flushed faintly.
“I have a surprise for you,” she said sheepishly.
“A surprise?” he repeated, intrigued.
“You’ll see.” Dylan nodded.
“Alright, I’ll go.
But don’t make me wait too long.” With a lingering glance, he turned and sauntered toward the bedroom, a glimmer of anticipation in his heart.
Gianna’s jaw clenched as she watched him disappear.
“A surprise,” she muttered scornfully.
“She won’t live long enough to deliver it.” Her fingers tightened around the knife hidden beneath her coat.
Ava was alone in the hall.
The time had come to act.
Unaware of the looming danger, Ava bit her lower lip as she watched him disappear into the bedroom.
Placing a hand over her chest, she tried to calm her racing heartbeat.
“I need some water to cool down.” She moved to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, and pulled out a cold water bottle.
She poured some chilled water into a glass but didn’t see a figure approaching sneakily from behind.
Lifting the glass to her lips, Ava was about to drink the water when she felt something cold and pointed pressing against her back.
“Don’t move,” came a voice, cold and venomous.
Ava stood frozen there, her heart pounding like a war drum.
The glass slipped out of her hand.
Clank-Clank€¦ The glass shattered on the floor, the sharp sound cutting through the stillness of the house.
In the bedroom, Dylan’s instincts flared.
Halfway through pulling on a t-shirt, he tossed it aside and bolted out of the bedroom as he feared Ava was hurt.
“Ava€¦” He hurried down the hallway, his pulse hammering in his ears.
In the dimly lit kitchen, he saw two figures €“ One was Ava and the other was Gianna.
He stopped dead in his tracks, his heart dropping to the valley when he noticed Gianna holding a gleaming knife at Ava’s throat.
His fists clenched as his gaze locked on the blade.
“Gianna, put the knife down.
Let her go.” His tone was calm yet commanding.
Ava’s breaths came in shallow, uneven gasps.
Her body trembled, and a single tear slipped down her cheek as her terrified gaze met Dylan’s.
She didn’t dare to move, not even to breathe deeply, the edge of the blade biting into her skin.
Gianna’s lips curled into a twisted smile.
“Why should I?” she spat.
“She took everything from me-my career, my freedom, and now you.
She deserves to suffer.” Dylan took a cautious step forward, his hands raised in a placating gesture.
“Gianna, listen to me.
This isn’t the way.
You don’t want to do this.” “Stay back!” Gianna snapped, her grip on the knife tightening.
She pressed it harder against Ava’s throat, eliciting a soft whimper from her captive.
“One more step, and I swear I’ll kill her.”
