Chapter 276: You€™re still lying to me.
As soon as they stepped out of the room, Lydia halted abruptly, spinning on her heel to face Erica.
Her eyes were blazing, and her voice was a sharp hiss of frustration.
“What did I tell you?
Stay calm.
Do you realize how suspicious you looked in there?
Dylan is no fool-your behavior has definitely raised doubts in his mind.
What were you thinking?” “It’s Gianna,” Erica revealed, holding out her phone and showing Lydia the message she had just received.
“She is the one who attacked Dylan and Ava.” Lydia’s mouth set in a grim line as she read the message.
She didn’t say anything, but her serious look made Erica even more nervous.
“She called me last night,” Erica blurted.
“I didn’t answer because I thought she just wanted more money from me.
I didn’t think she’d go this far!” Lydia’s ace twisted in a mixture of fury and disdain.
“You absolute fool.
Come with me.” Holding her arm tightly, she dragged her away.
Erica stumbled, struggling to keep up as Lydia dragged her down the corridor with purposeful strides.
“Slow down,” Erica hissed.
“I’m coming.” But Lydia didn’t listen to her.
She continued pulling her away forcefully.
Ava stepped out of the doctor’s office, her thoughts occupied with Dylan’s recovery when she caught sight of Lydia and Erica hurrying away.
Their tense expressions and hurried steps made her pause, a frown creasing her brow.
“What’s going on with those two?” Her curiosity piqued as she watched them disappear from her line of sight.
Down in the parking area, Lydia flung open the car door and shoved Erica inside with surprising force.
“Ouch!” Erica yelped, landing awkwardly in the passenger seat.
Before she could even adjust herself, the car door slammed shut with a resounding thud.
Lydia climbed into the driver’s seat with a stormy expression.
She turned to face her daughter, her glare sharp enough to cut through steel.
“You’re still lying to me,” she hissed.
“I know you took her out of jail.

You’ve been helping her all along, haven’t you?
Why else would she go after Dylan and Ava unless you were pulling the strings?” Erica squirmed under the accusation, her face pale.
“Mom, I-” “Don’t!” Lydia snapped, cutting her off.
“I warned you to stop this nonsense.
Dylan just brought you back into the fold.
And what do you do?
You try to harm Ava.
Are you out of your mind?
Don’t you realize how dangerous this is?
What if you get caught?” “I am sorry, Mom,” Erica apologized, her gaze full of remorse.
“I was blinded by anger.
I thought if Ava was gone, Dylan would be devastated and depressed.
Then we could manipulate him and take over the company.
But that idiot Gianna-she botched everything and hurt Dylan instead.” “Erica!” Lydia was so frustrated that she wanted to pluck out all her hair.
She pressed her fingers to her temples, as though trying to stave off an oncoming headache.
“You are reckless and foolish,” she scolded her.
“Dylan is not the same person he used to be!
Can’t you see that?
He has changed.
He doesn’t hate the Williams anymore, and with the power he is amassing, he could crush us without even breaking a sweat.” Erica clasped her hands together in a desperate plea.
“Mom, please, you have to help me.
If Dylan catches Gianna, she’ll expose everything.
I’ll be ruined.
Do something.” Lydia exhaled sharply, her anger warring with the instinct to protect her child.
Despite her frustration, she couldn’t bear the thought of Erica suffering the fallout of her reckless choices.
Her expression softened, but only slightly.
“I’ll figure something out,” she said finally, her tone clipped.
But you’re not stepping foot outside the house until this is dealt with.
Do you understand me?” Erica nodded frantically.
“Yes, Mom.
I’ll do whatever you say.
I promise.” Inside the hospital€¦ Ava stepped in, shutting the door softly behind her.
Her eyes immediately went to Dylan, who lay on the bed with his eyes closed.
“Did Lydia and Erica come to see you?” she asked, walking closer to his bedside.
Dylan didn’t open his eyes, merely letting out a noncommittal hum in response.
“I saw them leaving in a hurry,” Ava continued, her brows knitting together.
“Lydia looked upset.
Did something happen?” At that, Dylan’s eyes flicked open.
He studied her for a brief moment before shaking his head.
“Nothing happened.
Forget about them.” His voice shifted, becoming more serious.
“What did the doctor say about the butler?
How is he doing?” Yes, Ava had met the doctor who had been treating the butler.
“He is still in a coma,” she replied with a shrug.
“The damage to his brain was severe, and because of his age, recovery is going to be slow.
But the doctors are doing everything they can to wake him up.” Dylan’s gaze shifted to the ceiling.
“He has to wake up,” he said, a trace of emotion creeping into his voice.
“I’ve known him since I was a child.
Money doesn’t matter-I just want him alive.” Ava knew his sentimental attachment to that man.
She squeezed his hand reassuringly.
“Don’t lose hope.
I believe he’ll wake up, sooner or later.
But for now, you need to focus on your own recovery.” ~~~~~~~~~~~ A few days later€¦ Ava officially stepped into her role as the president of Williams Holdings.
The transition was momentous, but she kept her composure as Mr.
Douglas guided her into her new office.
The spacious room, adorned with sleek furniture and a panoramic view of the city, radiated authority and responsibility.
As Ava settled into the plush leather chair behind her desk, Mr.
Douglas began briefing her on the pressing matters.
“You have a meeting scheduled with the directors tomorrow,” he informed.
“Be prepared for some tough questions.
While several directors are pleased that you have joined the company, others aren’t as supportive.
They think you’re too young and lack the experience for a position of this magnitude.
Unfortunately, Ethan has played a part in fueling their doubts.” “Thank you for the warning, Mr.
Douglas.
I’m prepared to face any situation.” Mr.
Douglas stepped in closer, his voice dropping to a confidential murmur.
“There is something else you need to know-something critical.” Ava’s brows furrowed.
“Go on.” “The Starlite Company is planning to halt their supply if you become the president,” he disclosed, his tone grave.
“What?” Ava stiffened, disbelief flashing across her face.
“Starlite has been one of our most reliable partners for years.
Why would they make such a drastic decision?” “It’s Ethan’s doing,” Mr.
Douglas explained.
“The Starlite will continue the partnership if Mr.
Moss takes the position.
They have no faith in you, believing you won’t be capable of running the company effectively.” “That’s absurd!” Ava exclaimed, her frustration seeping through.
“They don’t even know me, yet they’re passing judgment?” “Miss, you need to handle this delicately.
Starlite is a key partner and losing them could cause ripples throughout the company.
We also don’t know the full extent of Ethan’s moves to secure the presidency.”
