My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back - Chapter 305
Chapter 305: Nicholas and Dylan working together Chapter 305: Nicholas and Dylan working together Nicholas stepped into the grand lobby of the resort, his sharp eyes scanning his surroundings as he approached the reception desk.
The woman behind the counter flashed him a professional smile.
“Hello, sir.
Do you want a room?
Let me show you the range of rooms we have-” “I’m here to meet my friend,” Nicholas cut in.
The woman hesitated for a moment before her smile widened even further.
“Alright.
Tell me the room number, sir.
I’ll take you there.” Nicholas shook his head.
“I don’t know the room number.
I’m here to see Dylan Brooks.” “Oh!
You must be the guest Mr.
Brooks is expecting.” She gestured for him to follow.
“Please, come this way.” Nicholas trailed behind her as she led him through a hallway with lavish decor, finally stopping in front of a set of intricately carved double doors.
With a polite nod, she pushed one open.
“He is inside.” “Thank you.” Nicholas stepped past her, his gaze sweeping over the luxurious interior.
Sunlight streamed through tall, expansive windows, illuminating the spacious suite.
The air smelled of fresh linen and faint traces of expensive cologne.
Every piece of furniture screamed wealth.
His gaze finally landed on a lone figure seated by the window on the plush settee, his posture relaxed yet exuding an air of quiet authority.
Nicholas straightened his back as he walked toward him.
Dylan lifted his gaze, meeting Nicholas’s eyes, but made no move to greet him.
He didn’t even gesture for him to sit.
Nicholas’s brows twitched slightly.
‘How rude.’ He was irritated a bit.
Dylan had invited him there on his own, but he didn’t show any courtesy.
“What is it?” he asked, his tone clipped.
“Why did you call me here so suddenly?” “To help you,” Dylan’s lips barely moved as he uttered his response.
“Help me?” Nicholas was befuddled.
‘Is he joking?’ He cast a suspicious gaze at him.

Dylan remained impassive, his expression unreadable.
“Have a seat first.” He gestured to the sofa beside him.
With a flurry, Nicholas sat down.
His eyes narrowed suspiciously.
“You’re not fooling me, are you?
Why on earth would you want to help me?” “Because you are my wife’s friend.” The emphasis on ‘wife’ was deliberate, a pointed reminder that Ava was beyond Nicholas’s reach-if he still harbored any thoughts about her.
Nicholas’s jaw tensed, but he said nothing.
He studied Dylan’s serious expression and, for once, set aside his skepticism.
“What is going on?” he asked, his tone turning serious.
Dylan reached to the side table, picked up a file, and handed it over.
“Your half-brother is plotting to kill you during your surgery.
He colluded with the doctor and bribed him.” Nicholas’s eyes darkened as he flipped the file open.
His breath hitched at the sight of the transaction details-Luke had transferred a massive sum to Dr.
Ross’s account.
Before he could process it fully, Dylan played a recording on his phone.
Nicholas went rigid when he heard Dr.
Ross’ voice, confessing Luke’s conspiracy.
His grip on the file tightened.
“I stumbled upon this conspiracy by chance,” Dylan continued, ending the recording and setting his phone aside.
“So I did my own digging.
I looked into the doctor and confronted him.
He confessed everything.” His tone grew icier.
“For now, I’ve made sure he keeps his mouth shut.
Luke has no idea his plan has already been exposed.” Nicholas remained still, absorbing the weight of the revelation.
Dylan spoke again, breaking the quiet.
“You don’t have to go through with the surgery under Dr.
Ross.
I’ve already spoken to Henry.
He is ready to take over the operation.” Nicholas turned to him, his sharp gaze filled with suspicion.
He found it hard to believe that Dylan was offering help without expecting something in return.
Though gratitude lingered in his mind, he couldn’t help but question, “Why are you helping me?” “I already told you-you’re my wife’s friend,” Dylan smirked.
Nicholas wasn’t convinced.
He shook his head.
“I don’t believe that for a second.
Tell me the real reason.
What do you want?” Dylan’s smug look turned into a serious one.
“I want to destroy the Bakers.
And so do you.
We share the same goal.
Why not work together?” Nicholas remained silent for a moment, mulling over Dylan’s words.
He didn’t need anyone’s help to take down the Bakers-he was competent.
But he couldn’t ignore what Dylan had done for him.
Dylan had uncovered Luke’s treachery, confronted the corrupt doctor, and even arranged a trustworthy surgeon for him.
If he had wanted, he could have kept quiet and let Luke’s plan succeed.
Instead, he had reached out to him.
“Fine,” Nicholas finally agreed.
“Let’s work together.” He stretched his hand toward him.
Dylan’s lips curled into a satisfied smile as he took Nicholas’s hand in a firm shake.
“But let’s keep this drama going,” Nicholas added.
“They want me dead, don’t they?
Let’s give them what they want.
Let them believe I didn’t survive the transplant surgery.” Dylan studied him intently.
Then, after a beat, a slow, knowing smile spread across his face.
“Okay.
Let’s do that.” They discussed how they would carry out the whole thing.
“That’s set then,” Nicholas said, a satisfied smile playing on his lips.
He knew Luke and Elijah wouldn’t stop conspiring against him-even during his recovery, they would likely try to finish what they started.
But the news of his supposed death would make them careless, lowering their guard.
That would be his opportunity.
He would rise when they least expected it and strike back with full force.
“I’ll talk to Henry and arrange everything,” Dylan assured him.
“But there is something I need you to do for me.” Nicholas turned a curious glance at him.
“Luke has been keeping Erica under his control, forcing her to work in his nightclub-pushing her into prostitution.
The cops won’t intervene because of the Bakers’ influence.
But I know you have the means to get her out of there.” Nicholas let out a low chuckle.
“So, you want to help Erica?” He gave Dylan a knowing look.
“Have you forgotten everything she has done?
She tormented Ava over and over again.
And let’s not forget-she was responsible for your parents’ deaths.
Are you seriously telling me you want to save her?” “I haven’t forgotten a damn thing,” Dylan growled.
“But that doesn’t mean I’ll stand by and let Luke force her into this life.
No woman deserves that.” “Alright,” Nicholas said, adjusting his suit jacket as he stood.
“I’ll help her escape-after my surgery.
Until then, let her deal with the consequences of screwing over Luke Baker.” With that, he strode out of the room.
