My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back - Chapter 311
Chapter 311: Ethan€™s true face Chapter 311: Ethan€™s true face At Ava’s office€¦ Ava’s face lit up with pure excitement as she listened to Dylan’s voice over the phone.
“And I walked-not much, but I walked,” he continued with quiet triumph.
“I can feel my legs getting stronger.
The therapist says it’s a good sign.
If things go well, I’ll be fully recovered in a few months.” A wave of emotion surged through Ava, her fingers trembling slightly as tears of joy rose in her eyes.
“That’s amazing.
I can’t wait to see you walk again.” She blinked away her tears, a warm smile curving her lips.
“I’ll try to finish up early and come home soon.
Wait for me, okay?” Dylan chuckled softly on the other end.
“I’ll be waiting.” With a lingering smile, she ended the call, her heart feeling lighter.
She turned her focus on the laptop and set her fingers on the keyboard, ready to wrap up her pending tasks as quickly as possible.
Dylan had barely ended his call with Ava when his phone rang again.
His smile faded, replaced by a solemn expression as he saw Henry’s name on the screen.
“Hello,” he answered.
“Dylan,” Henry sounded serious, “I found something about the poison.” Dylan stiffened, his curiosity piqued.
“What did you find?” “A tribe in the eastern region used this substance for indigenous medicine,” Henry explained.
“But if used in its raw form, it’s highly lethal.
The shocking part is Lydia was associated with that tribe.
She spent time there researching traditional medicine.” “Are you sure about it?” Dylan blurted.
“I couldn’t believe it at first either,” Henry admitted.
“But it’s true.
I found pictures of her with the tribe.
I’ll send you everything.” The call ended, and Dylan sat still for a moment, his mind whirling.
Lydia had disappeared right after his marriage to Ava, claiming she was traveling the world.
But now, it was clear-she had been plotting all along, searching for a way to strike back.
His phone chimed, pulling him out of his thoughts.
A series of messages from Henry popped up.
The first was a detailed report on the poison and its effects on the human body.
The second explained how the tribe used it in their medicinal practices.
The third was a photograph-Lydia standing among a group of tribal people, smiling as if she belonged.

It was undeniable.
Lydia had acquired the poison from them.
“Lydia.” His fingers curled tightly around the phone, rage simmering beneath his skin.
He had once trusted her, never realizing he had been harboring a venomous snake.
“You ruined my happy family,” he grunted.
His eyes burned with determination.
“I’ll make sure you never set foot outside of prison again.” At Ava’s office€¦ Ava was nearly finished with her work when a sudden knock on the door interrupted her focus.
“Come in,” she called, straightening in her seat.
Mr.
Douglas stepped inside with a respectful nod.
“Miss, Alex is here.
He seeks your meeting.” Ava’s brows knit together in surprise.
“Alex?” He rarely visited without reason.
Instantly, a wave of unease washed over her.
‘Is something wrong with Nicholas?’ Worry flickered across her face.
“Bring him in.” Mr.
Douglas gave a nod and exited.
A few moments later, Alex entered, his usual composed demeanor in place as he stepped forward and placed a folder on her desk.
“Good afternoon, Madam.
I am here to deliver this.” Ava’s frown deepened.
Why had Alex come all this way just to hand over a folder?
What could be inside that was so important?
“What is it?” she asked, curiosity laced with a hint of apprehension.
Alex remained stiff, his expression unreadable.
“We’ve been monitoring Ethan Moss for the past few days,” he began.
“We caught him discreetly discarding something in the trash as if he was trying to hide it.
It raised suspicions, so we retrieved the item and sent it for testing.
What we found was€¦ shocking.” Ava’s heart sank at his words.
Without wasting another second, she flipped the folder open.
Her eyes darted over the contents.
“Poisonous substance!” she mumbled in a daze.
“What does it mean?” She turned another page.
“This poison is untraceable but lethal if administered.
It induces heart failure, mimicking a natural heart attack.” Ava’s stomach pulled as dread settled in.
Was this the very poison that had caused her father’s heart attack?
Why did Ethan have it?
Her hands trembled as doubt clawed at her mind.
Had Ethan poisoned her father?
“Ethan’s connection with Lydia is unmistakable,” Alex pressed on.
“Lydia couldn’t have done it alone.
She needed someone close to Mr.
Williams-someone he trusted.” Her vision blurred.
Her mind reeled, trying to grasp the possibility.
She still couldn’t believe that Ethan could have stooped so low.
“But€¦ it could be a misunderstanding,” she argued, though she sounded uncertain.
It was almost as if she were trying to convince herself rather than Alex.
“Maybe Ethan obtained the poison for some other reason.
It doesn’t necessarily mean he wanted to harm my father.” After all, there was no trace of poison in her father’s system.
Without concrete proof, accusing Ethan felt wrong.
Alex, however, was not swayed.
His next words sent a fresh wave of dread crashing into her.
“If that’s the case, then why is he planning to escape?” Ava’s entire body went rigid.
Her head snapped up, eyes locking onto Alex’s.
“Planning to escape!” she repeated with astonishment.
Alex gave a firm nod.
“He is already in the process of selling his properties.” “What?” Ava exclaimed, shocked.
“If he were truly innocent, why would he be trying to disappear the moment Lydia’s crimes were exposed?” Alex challenged.
“He knows that once the truth comes out, his name will be dragged down with hers.
He is afraid €“ afraid that his spotless, righteous image will be destroyed.” Ava remained frozen in her seat, struggling to process the whole thing.
Although she had gotten the clue of his potential cooperation with Lydia, she had refused to believe that he could ever try to hurt her father.
The Ethan she knew had always been dependable, always present in her family’s life.
But now€¦ this Ethan was a stranger.
The foundation of trust she had built in him was cracking.
“Ethan has been like this for a long time-a cunning, malicious man with vile motives,” Alex said firmly.
His eyes darkened as he continued, “When they were young, he pushed my boss into the water and fled, leaving him to die.” “W-What did you just say?” she stammered.
The revelation was like a bombshell to her.
“He tried to kill Nicholas.” Ava felt as though the floor had been ripped out from beneath her.
