My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back - Chapter 314
Chapter 314: Ava is in danger.
Chapter 314: Ava is in danger.
Ava let out a soft gasp, her cheeks turning a lovely shade of pink as his fingers tilted her chin up.
Before she could protest, his lips captured hers in a fervent kiss, full of hunger and longing.
But she stopped him again.
“Control.
We can’t do it,” she whispered.
Dylan sighed but didn’t push further.
He would never do anything that could harm their baby.
Instead, he gently placed his palm over her stomach.
“How is our baby doing today?
Is he troubling you?” Ava pouted.
“A bit.
I’ve been nauseated all day, and I even puked twice at work.” “Then don’t go to the office tomorrow,” he urged.
“Work from home.
Let me pamper you.” Ava smiled, her hands coming up to cup his face.
“I’d love to, but I still have a lot on my plate.
I can’t stay home.
Some people still doubt my capabilities, and I want to prove them wrong.” “But what about you and the baby?” “Don’t worry.” She brushed her thumb over his cheek.
“I’ll take care of myself and protect our baby.” Dylan exhaled slowly.
He knew Ava well enough to understand that once she set her mind on something, nothing could deter her.
Since she insisted on continuing her work, he would find his own way to ensure her safety and well-being.
“Okay, I won’t stop you.
You do your job, and I’ll do mine.
You won’t stop me.” Ava couldn’t understand what he meant by that.
“What do you mean?” Dylan chuckled.
“You’ll see.” She considered pressing him for an answer but decided against it.
Instead, she rolled her eyes playfully.
“Fine, do as you please.
Now, can I go freshen up?” “You can€¦” He pulled her closer, locking her in his embrace.

“But only after you kiss me first.” Ava let out a soft laugh, shaking her head.
“You really know how to make me give in to you.” Leaning forward, she pressed a gentle kiss to his lips.
“But I like it.” “Sweet,” he murmured, deepening the kiss, making sure to steal just a little more of her time before letting her go.
~~~~~~~~ Lydia was informed she had a visitor.
Her lips pressed into a thin line as she stepped into the visiting room.
Her gaze flickered to the man sitting on the other side of the thick glass wall-Mr.
Blair.
His sharp, calculating eyes met hers.
She settled into the chair, picking up the receiver with a steady hand.
“Did you get the money?” Mr.
Blair’s voice came through the line.
Lydia’s jaw tightened.
“I’m still waiting for Ethan,” she said grimly, irritation creeping into her tone.
Mr.
Blair sighed dejectedly.
“We shouldn’t trust him.
That man can betray you in a heartbeat.
A man who could deceive those who treated him like family isn’t someone you should rely on.” Lydia’s expression darkened.
She had never truly trusted Ethan, but she had assumed he wouldn’t dare cross her, not when she held damning evidence against him.
But now, it seemed Ethan was underestimating her-or worse, planning something behind her back.
“If he is planning to betray me, I’ll drag him straight to hell.
Hand the recordings over to the cops.
Take Erica out of that filthy nightclub and leave the country.” “What about you?” he asked with concern.
“I won’t leave you here.” Lydia shook her head firmly.
“Stop worrying about me.
Stick to the plan.
Rescue Erica and take care of her.” Mr.
Blair hesitated.
His fingers twitched before he finally gave a small nod.
“Alright, I’ll leave for now.
But I will come back for you.” Slamming the received down, he rose from the chair and walked away briskly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dylan finally returned to work after days of recuperation at home.
From the moment he stepped into the office, his schedule had been packed.
Back-to-back meetings, discussions with the port project team, and hours of strategizing had left him exhausted.
When he finally had a moment to breathe, Justin approached him with a small glass of water and a pill in his palm.
“Here is your medicine,” Justin said.
Dylan took the pill, placing it on his tongue before washing it down with a gulp of water.
“The therapy appointment is in an hour,” Justin reminded him.
“Are you heading out now?” Dylan glanced at his watch and exhaled.
“Let me rest for fifteen minutes first.” Justin nodded.
“Alright.
I’ll be outside if you need me.” With that, he left the room.
Dylan picked up the phone, intending to call Ava.
He wanted to ask if she had taken her medicine timely.
But his phone rang instead.
As he saw the caller ID, he straightened up, his relaxed expression changing to a serious one.
Without wasting another second, he answered the call.
“Sir€¦ Madam is with Ethan,” a voice spoke hurriedly.
“What did you say?” Dylan exclaimed.
“Ava is with Ethan!
Where are they?” “They just entered a café near the orphanage,” the informant reported.
Dylan clenched his jaw.
He had assumed Ava was at the office, busy with her work.
But instead, she had gone to meet Ethan.
His mind raced.
What was she thinking?
Why would she meet that man alone?
“Keep an eye on them,” he ordered in a clipped tone.
“Make sure nothing happens to Ava.
I’m on my way.” Pushing his wheelchair forward, he rolled swiftly out of his office.
“Justin!” he called out.
Justin jumped on his feet as he saw Dylan approaching his desk.
“What happened?” “There is no time for that,” Dylan said urgently.
“Ava is in danger.
We need to act now.” At the caf逦 Ava and Ethan sat at a secluded corner table, away from the prying eyes of the other patrons.
Ethan leaned forward slightly, a warm smile on his lips.
“Why did you come all the way here?
You could have just called me.
I would’ve come to see you.” Ava eyed him intently, her expression unreadable, though deep inside, a bitter taste coated her tongue.
‘He is still pretending, acting as if he cares.’ “I heard you’re trying to sell your properties,” she said coldly.
“Let me make one thing clear: you can’t.
Those properties belong to the Williams.” Ethan’s expression darkened, the easy-going facade slipping.
He was surprised at how cold Ava sounded just now.
It was as if she had turned hostile toward him.
“What nonsense,” he scoffed, regaining his composure.
“I’m only selling what is mine.
The properties you’re talking about were transferred to me a long time ago.
If you don’t believe me, I can show you the documents.” “I don’t need to see anything,” she shot back.
“I already know.” She reached into her bag and pulled out a thick folder, placing it on the table with a firm thud.
Her eyes never wavered from Ethan’s.
“But you, on the other hand,” she pushed the folder toward him, “don’t know about my father’s new will and the clauses attached to it.
Go on.
Take a look.”
