My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back - Chapter 332
Chapter 332: Shocked and shaken Chapter 332: Shocked and shaken Ava waited impatiently for a call or message from Dylan, but her phone remained silent all the time.
Her fingers fidgeted with the hem of her shirt, her gaze moving to the door from time to time.
She hoped the door would swing open, and Dylan would walk in, her father safe by his side.
But there was no movement.
“Why are they taking so long?” she mumbled.
“Did something go wrong?” The thought sent a chill down her spine.
Martha approached, holding a glass of freshly squeezed juice.
“Madam, please have some juice.
You shouldn’t stress yourself like this.” Ava barely spared her a glance, waving her hand dismissively.
“I don’t want it, Martha.
Please, just take it away.” But Martha didn’t move.
“Madam, you’re pregnant.
Stress isn’t good for you or the baby.
Sir would scold me if anything happened to either of you.” She placed the glass on the coffee table.
“Please, drink this and calm down a little.
Everything will be fine.” Ava sighed, shoulders slumping in defeat.
Her gaze dropped to the glass.
She didn’t want to drink or eat anything.
“I’ll drink it.
Leave me alone for a bit.” Martha nodded and quietly retreated.
Ava picked up her phone and dialed Dylan’s number, but the call went unanswered just like before.
Frustrated, she sagged onto the sofa and tossed the phone aside.
“Why is he not picking up my phone?” she muttered.
The creak of the front door swinging open shattered the tense silence in the living room.
Ava’s head snapped up, her heart leaping into her throat.
A wave of relief crashed her when she saw Dylan coming in with her father.
Tears welled up as she hurried over to them.
“Papa.” She flung herself into her father’s arms, sobbing uncontrollably.
“I was so scared,” she choked out between ragged breaths.
“When I saw those photographs-tied to a chair, gagged, blindfolded-I thought€¦I thought I’d never see you again.” Thomas held her close, his hand smoothing over her hair in comforting strokes.

“I’m fine.
Dylan and his team saved me.
They got me out before it was too late.” Ava grinned through her tears as she pulled back and turned her attention to Dylan, who was calm in his wheelchair.
“Thank you so much,” she murmured.
“I don’t even know how to express my gratitude.
You saved my father.
That means everything to me.” “Thanking me?” Dylan muttered, almost offended.
“Are you trying to make me feel like a stranger?
Thomas is family.
Of course, I’d protect him.
I didn’t do it for thanks.” “I know,” she murmured, squatting beside him and squeezing his hand.
“But I can’t help it.
The fear of losing Papa was unbearable.
Every moment felt like an eternity.
I broke inside a hundred times, imagining the worst.
But you brought him back to me, safe and sound.
How can I not thank you for that?” Dylan’s gaze softened, the hurt fading into quiet affection.
He reached up, brushing his thumb across her knuckles.
“He is tired.
Take him to the guest room.” Ava nodded and led her father into the guest room.
Once they were inside, she turned to Thomas, her face clouding with worry.
“Are you okay, Papa?” Thomas sighed and sagged on the edge of the bed, exhaustion evident on his face.
The terrifying scenes flashed in the back of his mind, making him shudder.
“Lydia killed herself,” he murmured.
“She wanted to take me with her.
If it weren’t for Dylan’s men€¦” He trailed off.
Ava pressed her fingers against her lips, shocked.
“I saw the determination in her eyes.” Thomas’s gaze remained distant.
“There was no hesitation, no fear when she set the fire.
It was like€¦ she had already accepted her fate.” Ava moved closer, sinking onto the bed beside him.
Gently, she placed her hand over his tightly clenched fist on his knee.
“She didn’t regret it,” Thomas muttered.
“Even in her final moments, she blamed me.
She said her life fell apart because I rejected her.
That if I’d married her, she wouldn’t have suffered.
That everything-her pain, her broken marriage, her brother’s death-was my fault.” Ava could see her father was still in shock, rattled by the incident.
“Papa€¦ What happened was tragic, but you can’t let Lydia’s delusions destroy you.
She was lost in her own bitterness.
Yes, she suffered-her marriage, her struggles, her losses-they were real.
But that doesn’t justify her actions.
And it certainly doesn’t mean you were to blame.” Ava squeezed his hand, grounding him.
“She made her choices.
And when her life didn’t turn out the way she wanted, she looked for someone to blame.
You just happened to be the easiest target.
But you didn’t ruin her life, Papa.
You simply didn’t love her the way she wanted.
That’s not a crime.” She pulled a smile on her face, trying to lighten the heavy air.
“What matters now is that you survived.
Dylan’s parents’ murderer is gone.
Peace has finally found its way back to our family.
That’s what you should focus on.” She rose to her feet.
“Go freshen up.
I’ll grab some clean clothes for you.” She slipped out of the room.
Left alone, Thomas sighed deeply.
He wanted to forget-to push the horrors out of his mind.
But the images lingered.
He shook his head, trying to clear his mind.
“I need to take a shower.” He dashed into the bathroom.
After placing the fresh clothes neatly on the bed, Ava quietly stepped out of the guest room and made her way to the master bedroom.
She found Dylan by the window.
A smile tugged at Ava’s lips as she walked toward him.
Dylan sensed her presence and turned, his expression softening the moment their eyes met.
“You finally have time for me,” he said teasingly but pouted slightly as if feigning disappointment.
“Since your father is here, you’ve completely forgotten about me.” “How could I ever forget my lovely husband?” she chuckled, lowering herself to a squat in front of him.
“My heart is completely occupied by you, Dylan.
No matter where I go or what I’m doing, you’re always there with me.
You never leave my heart-not even for a second.” The next moment, Ava’s smile waned, and concern crept back into her eyes.
“The incident really shook him.
I just hope he can forget it soon and move on.” Dylan interlaced his fingers with hers.
“He will.
All we need to do is stand by him, keep him surrounded by love and happiness.” Ava looked into his eyes hopefully.
“Can he stay with us here?” she asked cautiously.
“Until he is stable.” “Your father is like my father.
He can stay here as long as he wants.” Ava’s face lit up instantly, her smile stretching from ear to ear.
“Thank you,” she whispered.
“Still thanking me?” His hand reached up, pinching her chin playfully.
“Seems like someone needs to be punished.” He tilted her face upward and claimed her lips in a hungry, possessive kiss.
Ava smiled against his lips, her heart fluttering in her chest.
“If the punishment is this sweet, I’ll gladly accept it.” She returned the kiss with equal passion, the worries of the day momentarily forgotten in the warmth of his embrace.
