My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back - Chapter 344
Chapter 344: The childbirth (Part €“ 1) Chapter 344: The childbirth (Part €“ 1) The next morning, Ava learned about the attack on Dylan.
The moment she heard that he was injured and had been rushed to the hospital, her heart sank.
Panic hit her like a tidal wave, and she rushed to the hospital without thinking anything.
Her heart pounded as she rushed through the hospital corridors.
She barely noticed the people around looking at her strangely.
Her mind was consumed with one thought: Dylan.
She pushed open the door to his room, her breath catching at the sight before her.
Dylan sat on the hospital bed, his arm resting on the pillow, his hand wrapped in thick gauze.
His face was calm, but his eyes flickered with concern the moment he saw her.
“Ava!” Dylan straightened.
“Why are you here?” Ava couldn’t stop her tears from falling.
She rushed over to him, her gaze dropping to his hand.
“Your hand,” she choked.
She wanted to ask so many questions, but her throat tightened, and she couldn’t speak.
“Relax,” he said, offering a small smile.
“It’s just a scratch-really, nothing serious.” But she couldn’t stop the tears that burned her eyes.
The sight of him in that hospital bed yet again shattered her composure.
“A scratch?” Her voice cracked.
“I heard how badly you were injured.
Don’t try to cover it up.” He reached up, gently wiping away the tear that slid down her cheek.
“It’s not that deep.
The doctor already checked-it’s just a few stitches.
I’ll be fine completely in a few days.” But she shook her head, her body tense with worry.
“You don’t understand.
When I heard you were hurt, I-” She sucked in a shaky breath, unable to finish the sentence.
Dylan’s fingers threaded through hers, giving them a reassuring squeeze.
“I’m right here, Ava.
I’m okay.
You don’t have to cry.” But she couldn’t stop.
The fear, the stress, the overwhelming relief of seeing him awake and speaking-it all poured out in quiet sobs as she rested her forehead against his.

“You scared me,” she whispered.
“And I never want to do that again,” Dylan murmured, pressing a kiss to her damp cheek.
Ava sniffled, her breath still uneven as Dylan cupped her face, his thumb brushing away the fresh tears that kept falling.
His warm eyes softened with concern.
“Ava, you need to calm down,” he murmured.
His gaze dropped to her swollen belly.
A fresh wave of worry flickered across his face as he reached out, placing his palm protectively over her stomach.
“You know stress isn’t good for the baby,” he reminded her.
“I’m fine.
We need to make sure you and our little one are fine, too.” Ava swallowed, placing her own hand over his.
“When I heard Erica attacked you, I couldn’t think straight.
I was so scared something had happened to you, and I-” “Shhh,” Dylan hushed her, pressing a finger on her trembling lips.
“I know.
But I’m okay.
And I need you to be okay, too.” His hand slid to her back, gently guiding her to sit beside him on the hospital bed.
She leaned against him, her head resting on his shoulder as he wrapped his good arm around her, holding her close.
“Deep breaths,” he whispered, his lips brushing her temple.
“Just like we practiced for the baby.
In€¦ and out.” Ava did as he said, inhaling slowly, feeling the way his chest rose and fell with hers.
For a moment, the fear ebbed away, replaced by the comforting presence of the man she loved.
“I just love you so much,” she whispered.
Dylan kissed the top of her head, tightening his hold on her.
“And I love you more.
Now, let’s get you home.” Dylan slid down the bed, stretching his hand toward her.
Taking his hand in hers, Ava rose to her feet.
A sharp gasp left her lips as a sudden, intense pain shot through her abdomen.
Her fingers clenched around Dylan’s arm, her breath hitching as another wave of discomfort rippled through her body.
“Dylan€¦” she exclaimed, her voice trembling.
But before she could say another word, a warm gush of liquid spread beneath her.
She froze, her eyes going wide in shock.
Dylan followed her gaze, his heart nearly stopping at the sight.
Her face twisted in pain, her fingers digging into his arm.
“My water€¦ it broke,” she managed to say, her body tensing as another contraction hit, stronger this time.
Panic flashed in her eyes as she looked up at him.
“It’s happening-oh God!
It’s earlier than expected.” Dylan’s stomach clenched.
In an instant, he forgot about his own injury, about the pain in his bandaged hand.
“Doctor!” he yelled, his voice echoing down the hallway.
“Somebody, help!” A nurse rushed in, quickly assessing Ava’s condition before calling for a wheelchair.
Dylan held onto her trembling hands, his heart pounding as she cried out in pain.
“I’m right here,” he soothed, brushing damp strands of hair from her face.
“Breathe, just like we practiced, okay?” Ava’s breathing was uneven, and tears streaked down her cheeks.
“Dylan, I’m scared.” His heart twisted painfully.
He had never felt more helpless in his life.
“I know, I am scared too.
But you’re strong, and our baby is strong.
Everything is going to be okay.” The nurses helped her into the wheelchair, and as they started to wheel her away, Ava’s grip tightened around his fingers.
“Don’t leave me!” she cried.
“I won’t-I promise!” Dylan started to follow, but a nurse gently stopped him at the doors of the delivery room.
“You need to wait here,” she said firmly.
Dylan’s stomach dropped.
“No, I-” But before he could argue, the doors swung shut, separating him from Ava.
The last thing he saw was her teary eyes pleading for him.
He exhaled shakily, his fingers clenched into fists as he paced outside the room.
His heart pounded erratically, his mind racing.
What if something went wrong?
What if Ava or the baby-?
‘No.’ He shook his head, forcing himself to push those disturbing thoughts away.
Minutes stretched into eternity.
Every muffled sound from inside the room made his breath hitch, his nerves fraying with each second.
Dylan had never known time could stretch so painfully slow.
He stood frozen outside the delivery room, his fingers twitching at his sides, his entire body coiled with unbearable tension.
Then, finally, the door swung open.
Dylan’s breath caught as the lady doctor stepped out, still wearing her scrubs, her expression calm but warm.
His eyes searched hers desperately, his throat tight.
“Mr.
Brooks,” she said gently, a small smile spreading across her face.
“Congratulations.
Your wife gave birth to a healthy baby girl.”
