Chapter 346: Cute jealousy
Dylan froze. His smile faltered as his daughter giggled and ran right past him—straight into Nicholas’s waiting arms.
His jaw clenched as he watched Nicholas, who, with a beaming grin, effortlessly scooped her up as if she were his own. The room around them blurred for Dylan, his earlier triumph now feeling slightly tainted. His daughter practically ignored him for Nicholas.
Nicholas chuckled, brushing the little girl’s cheek gently. “You’ve missed me, huh, princess?”
Aliyah nodded eagerly, wrapping her tiny arms around Nicholas’s neck. “Yes! You didn’t visit Aliyah for so long.”
Dylan’s eye twitched. Nicholas had been away on a business trip for two weeks—meanwhile, Dylan had been home, playing with her, tucking her in, telling her bedtime stories.
And yet, here she was, acting like Nicholas was the greatest man alive.
Dylan’s fingers curled into a fist at his side. ‘What the hell?’ He didn’t mind Nicholas being close to their family—after all, he was their daughter’s godfather—but this was pushing it.
Before he could say anything, Ava placed a gentle hand on his arm. “Dylan,” she murmured, suppressing a smile at his obvious irritation, “you know she adores Nicholas. He is her godfather.”
Dylan shot her a look, his dark eyes simmering with annoyance. “Yeah, well, he is getting a little too much credit,” he muttered under his breath.
Ava bit her lip, trying to stifle her amusement. “Oh, come on. She still loves her real papa the most.”
Dylan wasn’t convinced. His gaze flickered back to Nicholas, who was now twirling his daughter around, making her squeal with laughter. A muscle twitched in his jaw. ‘That was supposed to be my moment.’
Ava squeezed his hand reassuringly. “She is just excited. Nicholas spoils her with gifts and stories whenever he visits, and you know how much she loves that.”
Dylan exhaled sharply. “I buy her gifts and tell her stories every night.”
Ava laughed softly, leaning into him. “You look cute when you are jealous,” she teased him.
Dylan glanced down at her, still brooding. “Jealous? Not at all.” He turned aside, but his insides clenched. He was jealous.
Ava’s smile only widened at his reaction. She turned to her daughter and called out. “Aliyah, won’t you congratulate your daddy? He is waiting for you.”
“Daddy!” Aliyah squealed happily as she stretched her arms toward Dylan.
Dylan’s heart softened as he looked back at his cheerful daughter.
Nicholas Dylan’s expression. “Relax, man,” he teased. “You know she is your biggest fan. I’m just the cool Nicholas Papa.”
Dylan scoffed. “You’re definitely getting demoted from that title.”
Nicholas laughed. Dylan took her into his arms with ease, holding her tight. She giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Ava sighed, amused but exasperated. “Honestly, you two are worse than children.”
Nicholas grinned. “You married one, Ava.”
Dylan shot him a glare, but with his daughter now snuggled against him, calling him “Daddy,” his earlier irritation finally began to melt away. He still didn’t like sharing, but as long as he had his girls’ full attention in the end, that was all that really mattered.
“Now, it’s time for you to eat,” Ava said, taking Aliyah from Dylan. “Come with me.” She took her away, leaving the two men to deal with each other.
Nicholas smirked as he reached into his coat pocket and pulled out an envelope, waving it teasingly in front of Dylan’s face. “Here,” he said with a knowing glint in his eyes. “Two first-class tickets to Hawaii. You and Ava should go on a honeymoon. I know you haven’t had your honeymoon yet. Three years have passed, Dylan. Just take her out – relax, unwind, and leave the little one to me.”
The idea of going on honeymoon was alluring, but leaving Aliyah was not an option. Dylan arched a brow, immediately suspicious. “And why the hell would I do that?”
Nicholas shrugged, feigning innocence. “Because I’m generous and because Myra and I will take excellent care of our little princess while you’re gone.” His smirk deepened. “Come on, Dylan. You trust me, don’t you?”
Dylan didn’t even hesitate. He shoved the envelope right back into Nicholas’s chest. “Not a chance. You take Myra on a vacation instead and stop bothering me and my family.”
Nicholas chuckled, clearly expecting this response. “Fine,” he said with an exaggerated sigh. “If you won’t go, maybe I’ll just take Ava and Aliyah on a vacation instead. I’m sure they’d love it.”

Dylan’s entire body stiffened. The very thought of his wife and daughter running off with Nicholas made his blood pressure spike. His eyes narrowed as he took a threatening step forward. “Like hell you will.”
Nicholas grinned, waggling the tickets tauntingly. “So, you are going?”
Dylan ground his teeth together. He hated how easily Nicholas got under his skin. With a frustrated huff, Dylan snatched the envelope back. “Fine,” he growled. “We’ll go. Happy?”
Nicholas grinned, leaning over to him smugly. “Ecstatic.”
Dylan scowled, but his grip on the tickets tightened. He would never admit it, but maybe Nicholas had a point. A second honeymoon with Ava didn’t sound so bad. But still, leaving his daughter worried him.
“Promise me you will take care of Aliyah.”
“She is also my daughter, Dylan. Of course, I’ll take care of her.”
Dylan shot him a glare but said nothing. At this point, he had already lost the battle.
Nicholas laughed, throwing an arm around Dylan’s shoulder. “Now, go enjoy some alone time with your wife. You deserve it.”
Dylan shook him off with a grumble, but when he thought about Ava waiting for him until late at night, he realized—maybe this vacation wouldn’t be such a bad idea after all.
As the night grew, the celebration mood died down. The party was over and the guests started to leave. It was almost midnight when Dylan and Ava finally got back home.
Aliyah was fast asleep.
Putting her in her bed, Ava slipped out and closed the door behind her with a soft click. She finally came to their bedroom and found Dylan standing by the window, his hands slipping deep inside his pockets.
Ava approached him and wrapped her arms around his waist from behind. “I am so proud of you,” she murmured.
Dylan smiled. He turned around and faced her, caressing her cheek. “I’ve something for you – a surprise.”
Ava’s eyes beamed with excitement. “What surprise?”
He took out the envelope Nicholas had given him earlier. “We are going on a vacation – to Hawaii. You can call it our honeymoon.”
Ava’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Really?” she beamed, her fingers instinctively curling around his arm. “Honeymoon!”
Dylan smirked, wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her close. “Yeah. Just you, me, and no interruptions.”
Ava’s excitement was palpable—until he added the next words. “Myra and Nicholas will take care of our little angel.”
Ava’s smile faltered. “Wait… what?”
Dylan sighed, already bracing himself for her reaction.
“You’re saying,” Ava began slowly, her brows knitting together, “that we’re leaving our daughter here? With Nicholas and Myra?”
She shook her head. “No, I can’t do that.”
“Ava…you trust them, don’t you?”
“I do…” She exhaled. “Nicholas and Myra love Aliyah like their own. It’s just…” She hesitated, chewing on her lip. “I’ve never been apart from her for a day.”
Dylan softened, reaching for her hands. “I know. But this is just for a short while. She’ll be safe. She adores Nicholas and Myra, and you know they’d take care of her like family.”
Ava still looked uncertain, her fingers tightening around his. “But what if she needs us? What if she gets scared at night? Or—”
“Ava,” Dylan cut in gently, tilting her chin up so she’d look at him. “We need this. You need this. It’s been three years since we had any time just for us. Our little girl will be in good hands, and in a few days, we’ll be back before she even realizes we’re gone.”
He sighed deeply. “You always wanted to go on honeymoon, but I couldn’t manage time. Now the project is over. There is no such work pressure at the office. Just say yes. Let’s go.”
