Chapter 87: Unwanted argument (Part-2)
“What do you mean?” Gianna’s cheeks flushed a furious red. “Do you know who I am? You really think I can’t afford it?”
Ava stepped forward with a challenging demeanor. “What if I say yes?”
“You!” Gianna tightened her hold on her purse. “I’d love to prove you wrong.” She pulled out a black card and handed it to the salesgirl standing by her side. “I’m buying it.”
The salesgirl nodded with a gleeful smile. “Sure, ma’am,” she said before turning and heading to the billing counter.
Gianna’s eyes flicked back to Ava, a smug grin playing at the corners of her lips. “Now, that set is officially mine,” she said with triumph. “What will you say?”
Ava, unfazed, smirked back.
Lola, who had been silently watching the exchange, couldn’t hold back any longer. “Your wealth is nothing compared to Ava’s. You’re enjoying all this name, fame, and luxury because of Dylan. If he pulls back, you’ll be out on the street.”
“I earn because of my talent,” Gianna countered. “I am not dependent on Dylan.”
“Talent?” Ava couldn’t help herself and let out a derisive laugh. “Yes, we can see how talented you are.”
Before Gianna could reply to her, the salesgirl returned with a gloomy face. She hesitated for a moment, clearly uncomfortable as she spoke. “Madam, this card is not working. Do you have another card?”
Gianna’s hand trembled slightly as she snatched the card back from the salesgirl, her mind spinning in disbelief. ‘How could it be possible?’ she thought, her pulse quickening. ‘This card has no limit. It should work. Did Dylan block it? But why?’
She stared at the card in her hand, her face hardening as she struggled to understand how it wouldn’t work.
“What is it, Gianna?” Lola’s voice pierced through her thoughts, dripping with sarcasm. “Are you carrying an expired card?”
Ava, unable to hold back, turned her head slightly, stifling the laughter threatening to escape.
Gianna’s eyes shot daggers at Ava, fury flaring up. She shoved the card into her purse and, with an impatient motion, pulled out her bank card. “Swipe it from here.”
The salesgirl took the card and swiped it. The faint buzz of Gianna’s phone soon echoed through the tense silence, and she glanced down at the notification that flashed across the screen—five million debited from her account.
Gianna’s heart twisted painfully. If she had known the card wouldn’t go through, she would never have attempted to buy the necklace.
The salesgirl handed her back the card with a bright, professional smile. “Thank you, ma’am. Please keep visiting us.”
Gianna forced a tight smile, her teeth grinding together. If she could, she would have left without spending so much. But in front of everyone, she couldn’t do it. She wouldn’t give Ava the chance to humiliate her.
“Here is your necklace.” The salesgirl handed her the shopping bag.
Gianna took the shopping bag with a strained smile, her hand tightening around the handles as she tried to mask her frustration.
“She is the real star,” someone commented with a hint of awe. “She didn’t let others bully her.”
Gianna smiled. Any remnants of her previous dissatisfaction vanished. She moved in closer to Ava and said in a hushed tone, “You should leave before people start humiliating you further.”
Ava sneered, the challenge in Gianna’s voice only fueling her defiance. “You think I care about their nonsense! I can stay here and buy anything I please.”
“Stop pretending, Ava…” Gianna scoffed mockingly. “You’ll be only wasting Dylan’s money. The salary you have is not sufficient to buy a small ring here. You’re divorced already, and Dylan won’t let you spend his money. Without his credit card, can you even buy a thing from here?”
“Why is she still here?” Another one from the crowd chimed in furiously before Ava could respond. “Someone like her shouldn’t be here. They can steal expensive jewelry here.”
Ava’s fists clenched, the harsh words stoking the flames of her anger. But instead of crumbling, she turned to the nearby salesgirl. “Call the manager,” Ava commanded.
The salesgirls exchanged nervous glances, unsure how to handle the escalating scene.
“Are you deaf?” Ava’s voice rang out, louder now, filled with authority. She glared at each salesgirl.

One of the salesgirls scurried away in search of the manager.
Gianna let out a mocking laugh. “Ava, are you still not satisfied? What are you going to do with the manager? Ask for some discounts?” She sneered, challenging Ava to respond.
The fire in Ava’s eyes was unmistakable. “Once this shop becomes mine,” she said smoothly, “I’ll give you discounts. Don’t worry.”
Gianna’s laugh faltered slightly, but she quickly recovered, pretending to be concerned. “Oh, Ava, don’t be serious,” she said, feigning sympathy. “You’re not actually planning to buy it, are you? You are talking about a branded jewelry store, not some cheap jewelry set. Just accept it— you can’t afford it. I promise I’ll buy you a set.”
“Gianna! You might have forgotten that I am the sole heir to the Williams. My family is wealthy enough to not worry about such things.”
Gianna sighed deeply as she feigned pity. “Poor, Ava…You must not have heard about the downfall of the Williams over the past year. Your father’s company isn’t doing well. Without Dylan’s support, it’s bound to collapse. And now, with the divorce, you should be more cautious. Don’t do anything stupid that could put your father in even more trouble.”
Ava stood tall, unfazed by the jab. She met Gianna’s gaze with ice-cold composure. “Thanks for your kind advice, Gianna. But even if the company goes bankrupt, the Williams family still has enough wealth to live a good life. What about you, though? Can you afford the luxurious life you’re living without Dylan’s support?”
Gianna’s expression changed all of a sudden, and Ava enjoyed watching her troubled look.
‘Soon, you will be exposed in front of everyone and lose Dylan’s trust,’ Ava thought. ‘Then you will have to spend your life in jail.’
“You are going too far,” Gianna snarled, but the manager came over in the meantime, interrupting her.
“Are you the manager?” Ava asked sternly.
The man in a grey suit nodded and confirmed, “Yes, I am.” His expression was serious. “Are you the one causing trouble here?”
“Am I?” Ava’s eyes glinted with barely contained fury as she shot back, “Do you allow your customers to bully others? They were all humiliating me, painting me as a thief, assuming I couldn’t afford anything here. So I decided I’ll buy this whole shop and kick all of them out.”
“En…” The manager, still trying to grasp the situation, scratched his brow in confusion. “Why is everyone behind this store?” he wondered under his breath.
“Did you say something?” Ava squinted at him curiously.
He smiled awkwardly. “Sorry… A wealthy man from the city has already taken over the store. The documents were just signed.”
Ava’s mouth went dry as she tried to process what he had just said. “Already sold out?”
“Yes, and it’s yours now.” Before the manager could respond, a booming voice echoed across the room, drawing every eye to the tall figure now striding toward Ava.
“Dylan!” Ava blinked, momentarily confused by his sudden appearance.
