Chapter 91: Chaos at the Art Exhibition (Part 1).
“You!” Dylan’s face contorted in anger and confusion as he glared at Ava. He pulled his hand back, fists clenched as if trying to contain the storm inside him. “You are ready to take the blow to save him!”
Ava held her ground. “You’ve made a big enough scene. I’m exhausted with this—your bad temper, your jealousy, all of it.”
“Oh, so now this is my fault?” Dylan hissed. “You lied to me in the first place, just to be with him.”
“She didn’t lie.” Before Ava could respond, Lola’s fierce voice sliced through the tension. She hurried over to Ava and pushed Dylan away, placing a steadying hand on Ava’s shoulder.
“Are you alright?” she asked softly, her gaze scanning Ava’s face and posture to make sure she was unharmed. “I’m so sorry for leaving you alone—I took a bit longer in the restroom.”
Ava heaved a sigh of relief at the sight of her friend. She wrapped her arms around Lola in a quick hug, murmuring, “Thank you. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
“Relax,” Lola whispered back, giving her a reassuring squeeze.
Dylan was shocked to see Lola. He wondered if he had misunderstood Ava.
Lola turned her attention to Dylan, her expression fierce. “Honestly, Dylan, this is too much. Even after all this, you still don’t trust her. Didn’t she tell you she was going with me to the art exhibition? Where is all this suspicion coming from?
Dylan stood frozen. He opened his mouth to respond but found himself unable to find the right words. Guilt crept over him as he realized the hurt he had caused yet again.
He had wanted this to be a memorable day—a chance to bridge the gap between them and take her out to dinner to begin repairing what was broken. But now he knew that possibility had vanished.
Ava wouldn’t go with him. She might not even agree to come home with him tonight.
“It’s disappointing,” Lola continued disdainfully, a scornful look crossing her face. “You actually don’t deserve a chance. I can’t understand what Ava sees in you.”
“That’s enough, Lola.” Ava tugged at her arm and stopped her. She appreciated Lola’s support, but she wasn’t about to let her friend berate Dylan. This time, it was her fault. She had lied to him to avoid conflict, and she could see now how it had backfired.
“Dylan!” Ava took a steadying breath, her expression guarded. “I came here to relax, to enjoy myself, and to take my mind off everything. Don’t ruin that for me.”
Dylan stood rooted in place, his face pale, words failing him.
“Let’s go.” Ava took Lola’s hand, and they walked away together.
Dylan didn’t stop her. He watched her retreating figure, feeling as though the distance between them was widening with each step she took.
Nicholas, who had been watching silently, couldn’t hold back any longer. He glared back at him, resentment burning his gut. “You got a second chance, and you don’t even deserve it. But I know you’ll ruin it with this attitude. I’ll be waiting for the day Ava finally leaves you, and believe me—I won’t stop pursuing her.”
Dylan’s jaw clenched as fury rippled through him. Every fiber in him wanted to lash out, to wipe that smug look off Nicholas’s face. But he held himself back, knowing that any fight would only hurt Ava further. He swallowed down his anger.
“Keep trying all you want,” he said with quiet conviction. “But Ava’s love for me runs deep. It’s a part of her, something that will never fade. That love isn’t something you can replace. She will stay with me forever.”
Nicholas’s glare only darkened, but Dylan didn’t give him the satisfaction of another response. He turned and left, his mind swirling with regret, fear, and the burning determination to make things right with Ava.
Gianna stood in the shadows, watching the scene unfold, her nails dug deep into the leather of her purse. The sight of Dylan’s fierce protectiveness toward Ava made her stomach churn. She feared that if this continued, Ava’s charm would soon ensnare him, shattering her own hopes of marriage.
‘No, I can’t let that happen,’ she thought, a steely determination hardening her resolve. Her gaze moved to Nicholas’s stiff posture. A sly smile quirked her lips. ‘This man clearly has feelings for her. Maybe he is just the ally I need.’
With newfound hope and zeal in her mind, she approached him.
“It’s not fair, is it?” She remarked with feigned sympathy.
Nicholas turned, annoyance flashing across his face as he registered her presence. He looked away, clearly uninterested in conversation with her.
But Gianna pressed on, undeterred. “Ava doesn’t care for Dylan. And Dylan? He doesn’t truly love her either. He simply cannot bear the sight of her with someone else. She paused, gauging Nicholas’s reaction, watching his jaw clench. “You know what I mean.”
“What do you want?” he asked, his hands slipping into his pockets as he eyed her with distrust.

Gianna sidled up beside him, her eyes fixed on the path where Ava had just disappeared. “We can help each other and get the person we love. I’ve loved Dylam since we were kids, and everyone expected us to marry—until Ava forced her way into his life. Dylan harbors resentment towards her and vows to make her life miserable.
She sighed, adding a hint of sorrow to her tone, as though she pitied Ava’s predicament. “Poor Ava. She is finally realizing her mistake and wants out, but Dylan’s too stubborn to let her walk away so easily. He won’t let her play with him like that.”
She paused for a moment as she turned to him. “Think about it. If we work together, we can break them apart. You’ll have Ava, and I’ll finally have Dylan. It’s the only way both of us will get what we want.”
Nicholas’s gaze hardened as he listened. Though her plan repulsed him, he remained silent, curious to see how far she would take it.
Seeing his lack of response, Gianna’s confidence only grew. She elaborated on her scheme. “Dylan despises cheaters—you saw how furious he was just now. He will definitely break all ties with Ava if he finds out she is unfaithful to him.”
Nicholas realized what game Gianna wanted to play. ‘Such a shameless woman!’ he thought. ‘She failed to sleep with Dylan. And now she wants to prove Ava a cheater!’
“You are a smart man, and you don’t need me to spell it out. Just take her out somewhere. Snap a few cozy pictures with her, and I’ll handle the rest.”
Disgust flared up in Nicholas’s chest, and he could no longer hold back. “I knew you were twisted, but I didn’t realize just how filthy. Only filth could come from someone as foul as you.”
Gianna’s face flushed with embarrassment and rage. She clenched her fists instantly, willing to retaliate. But he didn’t give her the time.
“This is the first time you are trying to manipulate me,” Nicholas hissed with a warning tone. “I am sparing you this time. But if you approach me the next time, you will regret it.”
He spun on his heels and stormed away.
Gianna was filled with anger and felt the urge to scream loudly. “What is it about Ava that everyone is so obsessed with her?” she muttered bitterly.
