Chapter 99: You are heartless.
The room pulsed with a tense silence, then erupted into whispers and murmurs as the guests processed the shocking display. Flash after flash from cameras illuminated Gianna’s face.
It was supposed to be Dylan’s photo. How could these photographs appear?
Gianna glanced desperately at her manager, who was frantically pressing keys on her laptop, but the images remained stubbornly fixed on the screen. The manager shook her head, looking helplessly at Gianna.
Meanwhile, Ava leaned back, a satisfied smirk gracing her face as she watched Gianna’s flustered, panic-stricken expression. Her plan was unfolding perfectly.
‘This is just the beginning. You are already nervous.’ She crossed her legs and shot a glance toward Dylan.
Dylan quietly took the seat beside her, leaning in to ask with a whisper, “Is this your surprise?” His lips quirked into a slight smile, one that caught Ava off guard.
Her smirk faded, replaced by a flicker of confusion. Shouldn’t he be upset, even angry? How could he be smiling?
Before she could respond, the screen flickered, shifting from the photographs to a new video. It showed a rundown house in a narrow alley—a recording Ava had secured. She watched intently as the guests gasped; their eyes glued to the footage.
Dylan’s brows knit together in surprise. “Where did you get that?” he asked, genuinely puzzled.
Ava curled her lips slyly and turned her head slowly toward him. “Why?” she whispered back, tauntingly. “Already feeling regretful? You’ve barely seen anything yet.” She folded her arms, her gaze returning to the screen. “Just sit back and enjoy the show.”
Dylan smiled sneakily, pretending to be ignorant.
Brian’s confession about Gianna’s scheme, followed by the doctor’s confession stunned everyone present in the hall.
“Stop this!” Gianna’s panicked shout reverberated through the hall. “These are all lies. Fabricated! A setup to ruin me!” She glared wildly at the crowd, her face red with fury and streaked with the faint beginnings of tears.
“Who wants to tarnish my image?” Her wandering gaze settled on Ava, her fury reaching its peak. “You! It’s you!” She shouted, jabbing her finger in Ava’s direction. “This was all your doing. Trying to ruin my reputation with lies and manipulations!”
All eyes turned to that direction, murmurs of suspicion filling the air.
Ava remained calm and unmoved. Her stillness and collected demeanor only fueled Gianna’s desperation.
“She tried to hurt me earlier,” Gianna blurted out. “She even hired thugs to kidnap me. And now she is slandering me. It’s all her doing.”
The reporters eagerly leaned forward, catching every word, every movement, as the scene unfolded with a tense, electric charge.
With her jaw clenched and eyes burning with resentment, Gianna stormed off the podium and made a beeline for Ava. “I now understand why you showed up here without an invitation. You wanted to sabotage my birthday, to disgrace me in front of everyone.”
Dylan clenched his fists under the table. Every fiber of him itched to confront her, to put an end to her schemes once and for all, but he held himself back, knowing this was Ava’s moment. He wanted her to have the satisfaction of seeing justice unfold on her terms.
Ava rose gracefully, maintaining her calmness. “These videos are authentic – not fabricated. I can prove it.” “These videos are real — not fabricated.” She reached into her bag and pulled out a small bundle of folded papers, holding them up like a declaration. “If anyone doubts the authenticity, these reports will verify it.”
With a flick of her wrist, she tossed the papers into the air, sending them fluttering across the floor.
The guests bent down, picking up pages to read the evidence firsthand. Faces around the room shifted from disbelief to shock, whispers turning into audible buzzes of condemnation directed at Gianna.
Gianna’s face went pale, her defiant expression cracking. Panic surged in her chest, but her stubborn defiance flared. “No! She might have faked the reports as well. This is her game to ruin my image. Don’t trust her.”
But her words failed to affect this time. People looked at her doubtfully.
“You mean the cops are also lying.” Ava nodded to the policemen entering the hall. “Brian and the doctor have already confessed everything. And those goons you paid to kidnap me? They also spoke, detailing how you orchestrated everything. Your schemes are no longer hidden.”
Gianna staggered, shaking her head. She couldn’t believe all her schemes to frame and hurt Ava would be unveiled in this way. “No, no…”
Dylan crossed his arms around his chest, enjoying the show. He had handed Brian and the doctor already to the authorities and tipped them about the local gang’s involvement in Ava’s kidnapping attempt. Then he informed Ava about it anonymously.
Gianna’s eyes landed on Dylan. In a moment of desperation, she rushed to him and dropped to her knees, grabbing his hands.

“Dylan, please,” she begged, her fingers clutching his tightly. “You know me. You know how much Ava hates me. She is doing this to destroy me, to humiliate me in front of everyone. You have to believe me!” Her voice cracked.
But Dylan’s expression remained unreadable, a hardened gaze fixed on her unwilling to give her the support she once took for granted.
“Trust you!” Dylan exclaimed, pulling his hands back. Rising swiftly to his feet, he glared down at her disdainfully. “Are you asking me to overlook all of this? Gianna, I’ve turned a blind eye to so many of your mistakes, out of respect for a promise I made. But you’ve taken advantage of my trust over and over again. I see your true colors now, and this pitiful act? It won’t work anymore.”
Desperation twisted Gianna’s face as she clung to his leg. “No, Dylan, please,” she pleaded, her voice trembling with panic. “You have to believe me! Ava just wants to push me out of your life; she is jealous of me! She—”
“Enough!” Dylan roared, losing his temper. “I’m done with your lies, Gianna. I warned you, didn’t I? But you refused to listen.” His face contorted with unrestrained fury. “Do you think I didn’t know? You tried to drug me.”
Gianna gasped, sinking deeper into the cold floor. ‘He knew. He knew everything.’
“The waitress confessed that you paid her to spike his drink.” Ava stepped forward. “And here is the proof. Take a look.” She gestured to the screen, where footage began to play, showing a nervous waitress spilling out her confession, admitting that Gianna had bribed her to spike Dylan’s drink.
A ripple of disgusted murmurs filled the room.
“She is so shameless,” one of the guests muttered. “She looked so innocent, yet she is truly despicable.”
Another shook their head. “A woman like her ruins everything she touches. She is a disgrace.”
Amid the growing outrage, Ava’s voice cut through the crowd. “Not only did you try to ruin me, Gianna, but you went as far as trying to end my life. You locked me in that restroom, hoping I’d burn in that fire.”
“Lies! You’re making all of this up!” Gianna spat. “I didn’t do anything like that.”
“Didn’t you?” Ava’s tone was icy. “Then who is that?” She pointed at the screen yet again, showing everyone how Gianna was running out of the restroom corridor.
“I was inside, trapped, crying for help,” Ava continued. “But instead of helping me, you locked the door from outside and ran away. You knew exactly what you were doing, Gianna. And this footage proves it.”
