Chapter 356: Before Departure: Part 2

Avir, however, scoffed, dismissing the warning.

“Or else what?” Avir smirked, his eyes filled with arrogance.

He was convinced that he could easily embarrass Asher and take his woman.

The Fairy Queen couldn’t help but be curious where the incubus was getting all this confidence from. She turned to Asher and asked.

“You told me you’re the overlord of all demons, that everyone fears and respect you… So why is he talking like that?”

She wasn’t trying to poke fun at him but rather trying to understand why someone that was not even in the demon king level would dare show such blatant disrespect.

“First, I never said all of that additional stuff. Second, I’m wearing a disguise,” he replied, not bothering to explain further.

‘Tsk. I just want to take her on date,’ Asher let out a slow, tired breath

He gave Avir a lazy glance, watching the demon hover there with a smug look.

Seeing this, Asher finally relaxed. It hit him that he wasn’t facing a logical person—just a fool trying too hard to impress the crowd.

There was no point in getting serious. Killing someone like Avir over something so childish would only leave an ugly stain on his record.

It would be like stepping on a puppy for barking too much.

“I will give you one more chance. Stop blocking my way. ” He gave the stupid incubus a time to save himself.

“Give me a chance?” Avir sneered, his eyes narrowing. “I’ll make you regret ever meeting me.”

He raised his arms, releasing a thick, oppressive purple demonic aura that rippled out from him.

“Don’t worry, I won’t kill you,” he said, puffing his chest out even more. “For the sake of that beautiful lady in your arms, I’ll let you live. You should be thanking her. I’ll only break a few of your bones.

The Fairy Queen looked completely puzzled after hearing the threat. She began to wonder if he has some kind of secret weapon.

His power was so weak that even Mirelyn herself could beat him with a single finger—well, she didn’t even need to lift it. That was just how big the gap between their powers was.

Asher stood still, not even bothering to take a proper stance. He also did not let go of Mirely as there was no need to get serious against small fries.

‘I don’t want to make a scene right now.’

‘Not with so many demons around, watching every little thing.’

But the incubus was making it difficult for him to save face.

‘This idiot’s really pushing it,’

Then, in a blur of motion, Avir charged forward, kicking up air waves behind him.

He moved fast—fast enough that most of the demons watching gasped, thinking the fight was about to end in one blow.

But to Asher? It was like watching a snail in slow motion. It was so slow that he had to force himself to lower his reaction speed, just to keep himself from getting bored.

If he reacted like he normally would, the fight would have ended before Avir even realized he had thrown a punch.

Mirelyn raised an eyebrow. She could also see everything in slow motion, though not as slow as Asher.

‘Is he really going to try to land a punch with that speed?’ she thought,

As the incubus got close, Asher did the most effortless thing possible—he simply tilted his body slightly to the left, like a slight breeze had blown him out of the way.

SWOOOOSH!

Avir’s face contorted with shock as he completely missed. His attack swiped through empty air, and he end up flying a few meters away from them before stopping.

This embarrassing display only fueled his rage, and he launched himself forward again, this time with even more energy.

‘Yeah, this guy’s an idiot. How can he not take a hint after I dodged his attack?’

If someone managed to dodge an attack while holding a woman in their arms, that was a clear sign to run away.

But no. Avir just kept coming, clueless and determined to make himself look like some king of alpha male.

The demon threw punch after punch, kicks and slashes, but Asher casually dodged them all.

He barely moved more than a few inches each time

To everyone watching, they began to feel sorry and worry about the incubus. They could tell that Asher was really fast.

Mirelyn, just chilling on his arms, tilted her head in confusion. After a while, she couldn’t stay quiet anymore.

“Why are you not fighting back?” she asked, genuinely curious.

There was a brief moment of silence, broken only by the sound of Avir grunting and panting as he kept swinging and missing.

Finally, Asher answered. “You want to enjoy this place, right? I just don’t want to cause too much of a scene and ruin the mood.”

Mirelyn blinked at him, surprised by the answer.

“But he’s disrespecting you,” she pointed out, her eyes narrowing a little. In her kingdom, hierarchy was important.

Asher smiled under his mask. His next words were so soft only she could hear them.

“I don’t mind,” he said, easily stepping out of the way of another wild punch. “Your happiness is more important to me than my ego.”

Her heart skipped a beat. She wasn’t used to hearing things like that.

Especially for a being of his caliber. It was easy to swallow ego when a person had nothing, but the real challenge came when they had everything.

It made her feel more important.

“Y… You’re not that bad after all,” she muttered, quickly averting her eyes as a flush crept up her neck. She tried to hide her embarrassment, suddenly feeling a bit exposed.

Asher couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction when he saw her cute reaction.

It was progress, and it made him feel a little better about the whole situation.

He glanced back at Avir, who was still seething in anger, completely oblivious to the fact that he’d just become the unwitting catalyst for Asher’s success.

The poor incubus didn’t just embarrass himself—he had also unknowingly become his wingman.

Asher couldn’t suppress a small, amused grin.

To end it all without shedding blood, he decided to release just a fraction of his power.

In an instant, Avir froze in mid-air, unable to move.

Asher’s voice rang out, low and authoritative.

“Young man, you should respect your superiors more.”

Asher’s power surged, rising to a level equal to that of a demon king, and the sheer weight of it jolted Avir back into reality.

The smug look that had once filled the incubus’ eyes vanished, replaced by a look of sheer panic. He could barely breathe, like an invisible hand was choking him.

“I… I apologize,” he choked out, his voice strained and desperate.

Asher kept his gaze steady for few more seconds, watching the incubus struggle to teach him a lesson.

When Asher was certain he made his point, he released his grip on Avir, watching the incubus slump mid-air, gasping for breath.

He then turned and headed toward the beach area. His presence alone was enough to make sure no one dared to block their way again.

Mirelyn watched Asher, her mind replaying his previous actions.

He wasn’t like any other man.

Despite all his power, he never resorted to violence without a proper reason.

There was control about him, one that was rare—and it was something that made her rethink everything she thought she knew about men in power.

His patience, too, stood out. It was admirable, even, how he could forgive anyone as long as they didn’t cross a certain line

Asher understood that not every conflict required an immediate, forceful response. His ability to remain composed spoke volumes about his character.

She couldn’t help but wonder if she would ever encounter someone like him again. Someone with so much power yet so much restraint.

‘What am I thinking?’  Mirelyn muttered under her breath, quickly shaking off the dangerous thoughts that had begun to cloud her mind.

She couldn’t afford to let her guard down. She wasn’t going to let herself become one of those women who got swept away by his looks and natural charm.

“Hmmmp!” Her frown deepened as she struggled to keep her emotions under control.

Asher, sensing the sudden change in her mood, forced a wry smile, trying to lighten the air.

“Did I do something wrong?” His voice was softer now, the playfulness from before slipping away.

He thought everything was going well.

“We already landed, so please let go of me. I’m sure you can see that I have two working legs.”

“Okay,” he gently lowered her to the ground, his hands lingering for just a moment longer than necessary before fully releasing her.

“I just… got caught up in the moment.” He stepped back, giving her space, but his gaze remained on her body.

Asher still felt her warmth in his hand and had the urge to smell his palm.

Fortunately, he was able to quickly stop himself, knowing it would make him look like a pervert.

‘I need to be extra careful with her. I can’t believe I’m this fixated on her body.’ he sighed, feeling like even his strong will couldn’t resist her charm.

Having someone openly reject all his advances only made him more drawn to her.

“So, what place do you want to visit first?” he quickly changed the subject.

She looked around, fascinated by the new structures and culture before her.

The place resembled human beaches, with its laid-back atmosphere, but it had its own unique twist, drawing inspiration from both worlds.

“I want to go there first,” she pointed toward an area that caught her eye.
