Chapter 644: The Eyes That Can See the Past
“This is all your fault! Because of your negligence, Leon ended up like this!

Where her husband had once been gentle and loving, he now looked furious.

His face was flushed red, and his eyes stared intensely at his wife.

Meanwhile, the wife froze in place, dazed—as if she couldn’t believe her husband had just slapped her so hard.

But the redness on her cheek and the stinging pain were proof that it wasn’t a dream.

“Honey, I’m sorry,” she said hoarsely, lowering her head. Her body trembled as tears streamed down her face. “It’s my fault, I admit it. Please… forgive me.”

Unfortunately, the man’s anger showed no signs of fading.

He shook his head slowly, glanced at his unconscious son lying on the bed, then turned and walked out of the room.

The woman flinched and tried to go after him but failed. He had already left, closing the door behind him and leaving behind an eerie silence.

Only her desperate sobs remained.

Leon watched everything unfold, a tightness gripping his chest. He had never imagined something this serious had happened without him knowing.

The mother who had always seemed cold and distant had actually loved him—so deeply, it was almost unbelievable.

His empty gaze shifted to his younger self, lying unconscious on the bed.

“Did I really have an accident like that? Why don’t I remember? Is any of this real?” Leon frowned.

Then suddenly, his eyes widened as a memory flashed—the doctor’s earlier words.

“Wait… do I have amnesia? Is that why I don’t remember anything?”

His heart raced. It was the most plausible explanation, but Leon chose to wait and observe a little longer.

Once again, his surroundings shifted—but he was still in the hospital room.

He saw his mother sitting beside his younger self. The woman who was once radiant and always smiling now looked pale and utterly worn out.

One glance was enough to know—she had been through a day full of suffering.

Nothing significant happened until the scene slowly faded, replaced by a new one—still in the same room.

Time passed, yet the boy’s condition remained unchanged, while his mother’s deteriorated. Her body grew thinner, her face more haggard and hopeless.

Leon hadn’t seen Isen—his father—since the moment he slapped his mother. It was as if he had vanished from their lives.

Leon couldn’t tell how many times the scene had shifted before his father finally reappeared.

But he didn’t come with warmth or concern. Instead, he came holding a document—a divorce agreement.

“Sign this,” he said coldly, handing the papers to the woman in front of him.

Shocked, she took the document and began to read. Her face turned pale in an instant, and her hands trembled as she held the paper.

“Divorce?” She whispered, barely able to speak. Glaring at her husband, who remained expressionless, she asked through clenched teeth, “How could you do this?”

Isen stayed calm as he replied, “Because I need a successor to carry on the glory of the Orion family. And you… you’re a woman who can no longer bear children.”

His words felt like salt poured onto an open wound. Her chest tightened painfully, and tears spilled down her cheeks.

“You’re so cruel!” she screamed. “Leon is in critical condition, and this is all you can think about? Are you even human?”

Leon was shocked. He had never witnessed his mother so furious—never seen her emotions boil over like this.

Isen, however, showed no sign of hesitation. With a mocking smile, he retorted, “You call me cruel? But isn’t all of this your doing?”

The woman gasped, eyes widening in shock. Before she could respond, Isen turned to their unconscious son on the bed.

“If Leon weren’t like this, would the Orion family be pressuring me? Of course not. He’s a bright, talented boy—he should have been an exceptional heir. But…”

He faced his wife again, his voice sharp and unyielding. “In his current state, there’s no way he can bear that responsibility. Even if he wakes, he’ll suffer amnesia—perhaps permanent physical and mental damage.”

Without waiting for a reply, Isen turned coldly and said, “I’ll see you in court.”

He walked away, leaving the woman standing motionless, completely drained.

“Divorced? Mom and Dad are really divorced?” Leon pressed his temples, disbelief written all over his face.

Only now did he understand why his father rarely came home—and when he did, it was only to see him, never his mother.

For more than a decade, he had lived a lie… a lie he hadn’t even known existed.

Leon felt as if the world around him was collapsing.

Tears—something he hadn’t shed since becoming Leon Kruger—slowly welled and trickled down his cheeks.

His surroundings shifted, but the woman remained beside his younger, unconscious self.

Then Leon noticed the gold necklace and ring she once wore were missing—their absence confirming that she and Isen were officially divorced.

“Leon,” the woman called in a hoarse voice, “I’m sorry, dear. It’s all over. The light in our family has gone out completely. Maybe… When you wake up, things will be different.”

She gently and sadly caressed the boy’s chubby cheek.

Leon’s feelings churned, but he could only watch in silence.

The scene changed once more. This time, his younger self was awake.

His mother stood by the bedside, but she no longer looked sad or tired.

Instead, she appeared polished and distant, dressed in a beautiful gown with sparkling gold adorning her neck and arms.

“Mother…” the boy whispered softly, but she merely nodded in response.

“In a few days, you’ll be going home. Get plenty of rest,” she said flatly.

She glanced at the gold watch on her wrist and added, “I have to go. I have an appointment with my friends.”

Without another word, she turned and left, leaving her son alone in the hospital room.

It was hard to believe this indifferent woman had once been so loving and gentle.

The harsh blow of her son’s accident, his memory loss, and the divorce had changed her beyond recognition.

Leon took in everything before him with a steady, impassive gaze.

Of course, he remembered this moment. His head had been pounding fiercely as he opened his eyes.

He asked why he was in the hospital, but his mother only said he had a high fever.

“Huh… so this is how it is. Now I understand everything,” he murmured softly, squeezing his eyes shut.

It was hard to imagine so much had happened without him knowing.

But then one question struck him: why was he here, and who had brought him?

“It’s because you have the Eyes of Chaos.”

A childish voice came from right in front of him, making him startle. He turned his head and saw his younger self lying on the bed.

The child stared at him sharply, his expression cold and indifferent.

“Can you see me?” Leon asked.

“Yes, I can,” the boy replied calmly.

Leon narrowed his eyes. “Since when?”

“Since the beginning,” his younger self answered flatly.

A flicker of wariness crossed Leon’s mind, but his curiosity pushed him on.

“All because of the Eyes of Chaos? What do you mean?”

The boy shifted slightly on the bed and explained, “The Eyes of Chaos let you see the past. Now, turn and look in the mirror.”

Leon turned and faced the mirror.

His body stiffened as he saw his eyes—not their usual golden hue, but pitch black, the right pupil shaped like a crescent moon and the left like a sun.

With trembling fingers, he touched his eyelids. “Eyes of Chaos? How is that possible?”
