Chapter 366- God’s Gate (Part 4)
*That night, 9:00 PM*
The island was as quiet as ever as students returned to their rooms to sleep. Nobody stayed out late since they were too exhausted after a long day of studying and fighting. They couldn’t even find time to play around except on the weekend.
The schedule of the curriculum was simply that intense and there was no room to lose focus or waste time. Even those who didn’t like studying found themselves forced to follow this strict schedule so that they don’t end up getting demoted or even worse… Expelled from the academy as a whole.
In the darkness of the streets, only illuminated by the light poles scattered on both sides of the road, a silhouette moved in the dark heading toward a certain place.
Due to the silhouette’s speed, it was almost impossible to notice her without looking very closely and very intently and even then she could easily pass through and one wouldn’t detect her.
Midway, Isla stopped to look around her and make sure nobody was following her or looking at her. She wanted to make sure she didn’t bring any unwanted attention to this particular mission she was on.
A few minutes later, Isla reached the destination. The gates leading to the city were always open as students were always on the move, walking in and out. There was security around to make sure nothing out of order was happening but it wasn’t too tight.
‘That girl told me that she will be here by now. I should wait.’ Isla thought to herself as she stopped near a wall and rested her back, making sure to blend with the darkness around her. She had worn a black turtle neck shirt and black pants to make sure she was completely concealed.
Another two minutes passed peacefully before Isla noticed a silhouette approaching her from a distance. Looking closely, she noticed that it was Elise who was trying to sneak her way to the meeting point with careful steps.
“There you are, Miss Isla!”
“Shush!” Isla put her finger on her lips. “Don’t make too much noise. They might hear us.”
“Oh, yeah, you’re right.”
“So, what are we going to do?” Isla asked.
“Here, I pointed it out on the map.” Elise pulled out her device and showed it to Isla. “My friends told me that this particular area of the wall is usually not supervised as its quite far away from most patrols. We can climb the wall and jump into the Boys’ Dormitory section. Then, it should be easy access to the building where Arthur is.”
As Elise explained the plan, Isla inspected the map, making sure the girl was accurate with what she said.
‘The fact these students even discovered this… I don’t even know what to say.’ Isla mused before she handed the phone back to Elise.
“Good, let’s move. We don’t have time to stand here.”
“Yes.”
The girl then turned around to walk, but suddenly stopped again, making Elise stop instinctively. She stared at Isla’s back, trying to understand why she stopped.
“Miss Isla?”
“… I want to thank you for… helping me. I owe you.” Isla spoke without looking back, her voice as calm as ever. However, her words struck Elise hard.
‘W-What?’ Her eyes widened visibly. She had never expected Isla to thank her in such a sincere manner. In her eyes, Isla had always been this extremely cold and serious person and while she knew that Isla was also kind and respectful, this was the last thing she could’ve imagined Isla would say.
“Mmm, I really did nothing, Miss Isla.” She replied nervously.
“…” Isla looked over her shoulder before turning away. “Let’s go.”
With that, the two started moving again, following the map to the point where the supposed loophole was. Luckily, it wasn’t too far away from their current position so they reached it a few minutes later.
This supposed ‘loophole’ was in fact quite normal-looking. There was nothing about that section of the wall that indicated it was a weakness in security. However, that proved to be good as it meant that the academy would not notice it for quite some time. Unless they discover a student sneaking in from there.
“This should be the exact spot. There aren’t any security guards around.” Elise muttered as she checked her phone a second time to make sure she wasn’t mistaken.
Meanwhile, Isla kept examining the wall. It was not too elevated so she could easily climb it on her own. However, the same can’t be said for Elise who was significantly weaker than Isla.
“Here, jump on my hand and get on top of the wall.” After a moment of contemplation, she decided on what the next course of action was.

“Are you sure?”
“Yes. I will push you up. Make sure to grab into the edge and climb.” Isla replied as she crouched down and interlocked her fingers.
“… Understood.” Gulping slightly, Elise stepped back. ‘I’m really going to step on Miss Isla’s hands… This must be some sort of a grave sin. I must atone for it quickly.’
With her mind still in shambles, Elise ran forward and stepped on Isla’s hand. At that moment, Isla yanked her arms up, using a very good amount of force. After going through a huge change due to the Serum pumped into her veins, the girl was easily several times stronger than before so the task wasn’t as hard as one would expected.
In a second, Elise found herself flying in the air with her eyes wide. ‘Oh my god! I’m flying!’
Reaching the edge, she instinctively grabbed into it with both arms before quickly climbing up.
“Give me your hand, Miss Is-” Turning around, Elise quickly tried to help her companion, only to see Isla had already climbed up in no time.
‘She’s so strong… It didn’t even seem like she struggled to do it.’ Elise blinked.
Meanwhile, Isla looked left and right, making sure the path was clear before she climbed down. Elise followed suit and the two girls snuck through the street to the other side, heading toward the building where Arthur lived.
On the way, their hearts started beating faster and the nerves started getting to them. Their worry for Arthur made their minds wander places. However, they kept their composure, especially Isla who didn’t let her mind overthink.
‘I will get him out of the game. It will be fine.’ Isla thought to herself as they finally stopped in front of the building.
“So this is the place…” Elise muttered.
“We will go in from the back,” Isla explained. “His room should be on the third floor.”
The design of the building was quite modern and sleek so there weren’t many ways they could climb to the third floor. However, Isla didn’t find that to be a problem.
‘I have some experience in rock climbing and have won several medals before. I can climb.’
“Do you have any experience climbing before, Elise?” Isla asked as she touched the wall.
“Mm, I did go climbing indoors before. I think I can do it.” The girl replied.
“Then, I will go first and you follow me. Got it?”
“Understood!”
With that, Isla immediately put her hand on the window frame and started climbing up, making sure she was using every single possible spot she could find. It turned out to be considerably more difficult as there were large gaps between each floor, but with experience, she was able to pave the path for both of them.
Elise took longer to follow her, but in the end, she was able to reach the third floor. Isla peeked inside through the window and it was extremely dark. However, in that darkness, she could see a small object emanating light.
‘An FIC.’ She mused as her heart felt a strong sense of coldness wash over. The girl exhaled a small breath before she opened the window and jumped inside.
Her eyes kept staring at the capsule as her heart started racing, everything around her became a blur. All the noises she could hear were the sound of her heart beating loudly in her ears.
With slow steps and a blank expression, she walked to the capsule and stopped in front of it, looking through the glass door.
There, sleeping peacefully inside, she could see the person she had longed for the most. Arthur… He was there, still completely disconnected from the real world. He looked normal as if he was having an evening nap.
“Arthur…” Isla muttered as she put her hand against the glass, her fingers visibly shaking. “I’m here. I’m sorry for making you wait… I wonder where you are, right now. Are you fighting something? Are you stuck somewhere?”
A thousand questions popped in her head. She wanted to talk to Arthur, to know what he was going through, and to apologize for everything. This time, she was determined to never make such a mistake again.
Arthur was going to stay by her side forever.
