My Vampire System - Chapter 69
Chapter 69: The Chair Chapter 69: The Chair Blood dripped from the top of Vorden’s head, trickling down to his eyebrow.
He raised his hand to wipe it away, gripping a dagger made of hardened mud in his other hand. “What did I say?
You got us killed, Vorden!” “Will you shut up, unless you want to fight this damned thing instead?” Vorden snapped. On the floor in front of him lay a defeated Rattaclaw, its lifeless body sprawled out.
Nearby, another Rattaclaw remained unharmed, its beady eyes focused on him, its claws poised to strike. When Vorden arrived on the planet, he’d encountered the first Rattaclaw in the wild.
Not wanting to attract more beasts, he had run into the closest structure he could find—a large, mostly empty warehouse.
The space was filled with broken crates and scattered piles of scrap metal, and with only one entrance, he realized he had no choice but to fight. Despite the limitations of his Level 1 earth ability, Vorden’s skill and quick thinking had aided him.
Early on, he had transformed a chunk of earth into a dagger, the weapon he was most comfortable wielding.
With precision and careful timing, he dodged the Rattaclaw’s attacks and struck whenever an opening appeared. The problem, however, was the Rattaclaw’s tough hide.
His attacks barely made a dent, and his ability wasn’t strong enough to compensate.
Without monstrous strength, Vorden had to rely purely on skill and determination. Eventually, he inflicted enough damage to weaken the beast.
Just as he was delivering the final blow, a second Rattaclaw appeared out of nowhere.
He reacted quickly, spinning around to block its attack, but not fast enough to avoid its claws entirely.
Three shallow gashes now showed on the top of his head, blood seeping from the fresh wounds. “Fine, then,” Vorden muttered.
“Take the damned seat and fight this thing yourself.” He relinquished control of his body to Raten. Inside Vorden’s mind, the transition began.
He found himself in a pitch-black room, illuminated only by a single white light shining above a solitary chair.
The light cast sharp shadows across the floor, emphasizing the stark contrast between its brightness and the surrounding void. Raten strode confidently to the chair, sat down, and assumed control of the body.
Meanwhile, Vorden walked deeper into the darkness, where another figure waited. The figure was a perfect copy of Vorden, sitting on the ground with his knees pulled to his chest.
He rocked back and forth, his fingers endlessly twisting and untwisting around each other.
Part of his shirt was stuffed into his mouth, a nervous habit he couldn’t seem to break. “How are you holding up?
Are you feeling better?” Vorden asked gently. The figure paused for a moment but didn’t stop swaying.
“Is Quinn going to be okay?” Vorden offered a reassuring smile.
“I’m sure he’s fine.
You know he’s special.
We all knew it from the moment we met him.” The other Vorden-like figure smiled faintly but continued to sway.
“Special, just like Caser was.
And Marlin.
And Fuffu.
But they all died too.” Vorden swallowed hard.
The swaying grew faster, more frantic. “This time is different,” Vorden said firmly.
“Raten and I are here to protect you.

Stay here as long as you need.
Leave the talking to me and the fighting to Raten.
We’ll handle this together.” The swaying gradually slowed, and Vorden felt his nerves ease. When Vorden returned to the chair, he saw that Raten had already dealt with the remaining Rattaclaw.
The beast’s lifeless body lay sprawled across the floor, its tail severed and several earth spikes protruding from its torso.
Black blood pooled beneath its mouth, a grim testament to Raten’s ruthless efficiency. Raten’s voice rang out in the void.
“See?
Told you I could handle it.” “Did you really have to go that far?” Vorden asked.
“That cheeky little crap ruined our body.
I can’t just let it get away with that,” Raten replied. Raten stood up from the glowing chair, allowing Vorden to take his place in the white light. Vorden returned to the real world and immediately began carving the beast crystals from the two Rattaclaws.
Carefully extracting them, he placed the crystals into his trouser pocket.
It would’ve been a waste to leave them behind after all the effort it took to defeat the creatures. Just as Vorden finished, the sound of metal clanging echoed from behind him.
He spun around quickly, his senses on high alert. To his surprise, a fully grown man emerged from behind a stack of crates. “I come in peace,” the man said, raising his hands in a gesture of surrender.
But the moment he raised them, he grimaced and lowered one hand to clutch his ribs. From the man’s appearance, Vorden could tell immediately that he was a skilled Traveller.
His advanced-tier beast armor covered his body, complete with two short swords strapped to his back.
Despite the obvious pain he was in, his presence exuded confidence. The man slumped to the ground, leaning heavily against a crate for support. Vorden cautiously approached him.
Running into a Traveller in a place like this was rare.
And given the dangers of a red portal planet, he couldn’t be sure of the man’s true intentions. “Don’t worry, I won’t bite,” the man said with a faint smile.
“But I have to ask—what’s a kid like you doing in a hellhole like this?
I didn’t think the military was desperate enough to send students into red portals alone.” “It was an accident,” Vorden replied cautiously.
“I got stuck here, and now I’m trying to find a way out.” As Vorden drew closer, he got a better look at the man.
He had short, spiky purple hair and several scars across his face.
The way he clutched his side suggested broken ribs or at least some serious internal injuries. “Looks like we’re in the same boat,” the man said, his voice strained.
“Name’s Ian.
I came through a different portal.
I was hunting a beast in the wild, but it hurt me pretty bad.
I was too far from my original portal, so I decided to come to this abandoned shelter as a last resort.
I was hoping to find medical supplies or maybe even a portal that leads back to Earth.” Ian’s gaze shifted to the two dead Rattaclaws on the floor. “You’re quite impressive for someone so young,” he said.
“Taking down two Rattaclaws on your own, especially in a place like this?
That’s no small feat.
You’ve got my thanks.
I was too injured to handle them if they came after me.
I didn’t expect to find anyone else here in this shelter.” “You’re welcome,” Vorden said with a nod.
“Since we both need to find a way out, do you have any idea where the portal might be?” Ian scratched his chin, thinking for a moment.
“I spotted a few buildings on my way here.
It’s probably best to check those first.” Vorden extended his hand for a handshake.
“The name’s Vorden.” Ian took his hand and gave it a firm shake.
“I look forward to working with you.” The moment their hands connected, Vorden felt a surge of energy flow into his body.
A small smile crept across his face. CREATORS’ THOUGHTS JKSManga Everyone please if you can, support the story with you’re stones.
