Chapter 231: Plans
Feng Fan remained by the door of room 404 like a statue. Eventually, the disciples from the Monkey King Sect, Xiong Jinhai, and Wan Fang returned to the room but left again when it was half an hour to midnight.
Visitors from the Dao Seeking School’s territory were given temporary tokens if they chose to leave the Black Turtle Sect’s premises. Because Feng Fan didn’t want to expose his disguise, he decided not to take a token, unlike the Monkey King Sect members, who each took one from a disciple guarding the exit.
Since the protective barrier wouldn’t alert or stop anyone from leaving, he didn’t have to worry about that for now. Only when he returned from Green Root City that would be a problem to be solved.
A few minutes before midnight, they finally arrived. The city was quiet, with almost all mortals already asleep.
Feng Fan followed them toward the largest house in the city, which he assumed belonged to the mayor—or at least, it used to.
The Monkey King Sect members passed through the gate, guarded by two men. A tier 4 barrier protected the place, but to Feng Fan, it was as good as useless.
He easily tampered with it and slipped inside undetected. ‘Where are those bastards?’
Activating his spiritual qi vision, he quickly spotted a room with a high concentration of spiritual qi. ‘Found it.’
He moved like a shadow through the corridors before stopping next to the room’s door. Since opening it would expose him, he decided to wait.
A familiar figure, accompanied by a woman, approached the same room where those plotting against Feng Fan had gathered.
‘Qian Niu.’ Feng Fan narrowed his eyes. ‘It seems he didn’t learn his lesson.’
Unaware of Feng Fan’s presence, Qian Niu opened the door and led his wife inside. Just before he could close it, Feng Fan slipped through, passing right beneath his arm.
Qian Niu felt a faint breeze under his arm. ‘What was that?’
He paused, looking around, making Feng Fan’s heart skip a beat.
When Qian Niu found nothing unusual, he continued toward the stage where the meeting would take place.
Feng Fan let out a quiet sigh of relief. ‘The senses of a Dao Seeking realm expert are no joke.’
Glancing across the room Feng Fan saw many people gathered around a stage where a puppet stood alone. He spotted some familiar faces, but most were unfamiliar to him.
‘What’s that?’ he looked puzzled at the human-sized puppet.
Wary of being noticed, he didn’t move closer to the stage. Instead, he found a shadowed corner and waited in silence for the meeting to begin.
He didn’t have to wait long. At exactly midnight, the door locked itself, and a soundproof array enveloped the room.
‘Oh, they’re being careful… but it’s still not enough,’ Feng Fan smirked to himself.
“Greetings, everyone.” To Feng Fan’s surprise, a voice echoed from the puppet. “I believe you all know why we are here, so I’ll be brief.”
The voice sounded familiar, but Feng Fan couldn’t pinpoint exactly where he had heard it before. ‘That’s the problem with having so many good friends… sometimes it’s hard to tell them apart.’
Feng Fan shook his head and smiled bitterly. ‘Ah, the struggles of being a nice and popular man…’
‘At least now I know that whoever is speaking through that puppet is the mastermind, and he’s a very careful man.’
“Not only are we going to destroy Feng Fan and the White Crow Sect, but we’ll also take down the Dao Seeking School’s tyrannical rule!” the puppet continued.
Feng Fan’s eyes widened in shock. ‘Damn it, these people are aiming big. No wonder they managed to gather so many—it wasn’t just about me.’
“About nine months ago, I contacted foreign cultivators from the Azure Dragon Continent. They agreed to help us.”
What the man behind the puppet didn’t say was that these foreign cultivators would take over the Black Turtle Continent as soon as the Dao Seeking School fell. But the mastermind didn’t care—he clearly had other plans and agreements with them that he hadn’t shared with the fools in front of him.
“I have a few artifacts capable of driving demon beasts mad, a gift from our allies in the Azure Dragon Continent. We’ll lure all the demon beasts within a few thousand kilometers and make them attack the Black Turtle Sect at the same time—a demon beast stampede!”

The puppet finally paused after revealing his plan, sending the crowd below into a heated discussion.
“Sir, while gathering the demon beasts may cause trouble for the Black Turtle Sect and the Dao Seeking School… I believe it would be impossible to take them down completely,” someone finally voiced the question on many minds.
“Don’t worry, this is just a distraction. The demon beasts will be strong enough to break through the Black Turtle Sect’s barrier. This will force the Dao Seeking School to send their invited guests back to their territory, but they won’t leave themselves. They’ll be too busy dealing with the stampede, giving us the crucial days we need to wipe out the White Crow Sect.”
“How will destroying the White Crow Sect help us take down the Dao Seeking School?” a cultivator asked, clearly uninterested in Feng Fan but eager to see the Dao Seeking School fall.
The puppet’s voice remained calm. “You may not realize this, but the White Crow Sect has the strongest young generation on the continent. Taking them down won’t just guarantee the Azure Dragon Continent’s victory in the upcoming competition… it will also allow us to plant even more spies within it.”
Feng Fan’s eyes narrowed. ‘So I’m just a stepping stone in your grand plan… Your real goal is to take over the entire continent?’
Feng Fan smiled coldly. ‘I’ll teach you a lesson you’ll never forget.’
He wasn’t offended that they wanted to kill him. What irked him was that, in their eyes, he was nothing more than a minor obstacle.
