Chapter 254: Coward
Boom!
Boom!
Long Liu’s ship drew closer to Liao Cai’s vessel, unleashing barrages of spiritual energy blasts. Smoke billowed from the cannons, their barrels glowing red-hot from the continuous onslaught.
The air trembled with each explosion, and cracks formed in the enemy ship’s shimmering barrier.
“Liao Cai, die for me!” Long Liu’s voice thundered through the air, carried by a powerful surge of spiritual qi that reached Liao Cai’s ears.
His face twisted into an ugly scowl. Sweat trickled down his forehead, and he gritted his teeth in frustration.
The defensive arrays flickered, their power waning with each impact. Most of the ship’s spiritual qi reserves had already been exhausted breaking through the attack formation earlier, leaving the barrier on the verge of collapse.
Realizing the defensive array couldn’t hold out long enough to escape, Liao Cai made a split-second decision. Without telling anyone, he slipped away from the deck, his body cloaked and his movements as silent as a ghost.
He darted out from the ship’s side, moving at full speed while keeping his presence as muted as possible. The ship continued its desperate flight, serving as a decoy to buy him precious seconds.
‘They can all die for my escape!’ Liao Cai thought, a wicked grin spreading across his face.
Sacrificing his people was nothing compared to saving his own skin.
Yet, his hopes of going unnoticed were shattered by a pair of keen, blood-red eyes locked onto his fleeing form. Long Liu’s lips curled into a predatory smile as she spotted the hooded figure slipping away.
“The chicken left its nest. Time to catch it.”
Dong Yun blinked in confusion. “What are you planning?”
But Long Liu didn’t bother to answer. Her figure vanished from the ship’s deck in a flash, moving so fast it seemed like she had teleported.
“Liao Cai, DIE!”
As she lunged at him, her entire body underwent a terrifying transformation. Crimson scales erupted from her pale skin, covering her body in a gleaming armor that shimmered like blood-soaked jewels. Her limbs stretched and thickened, muscles bulging as her form grew to twice its original size. A long, sinuous tail sprouted from her lower back, lashing the air behind her.
Long Liu was no longer human—she had become a towering, three-meter-tall humanoid dragon. Her sharp nails elongated into deadly claws to take Liao Cai’s life.
Liao Cai spun around, his eyes widening as the monstrous figure closed in on him. Fear tightened his chest, and his instincts screamed at him to flee, but he knew he couldn’t outrun her.
Knowing he had no other choice, Liao Cai gritted his teeth and summoned a colossal sword from his space ring.
“I’m not going down!” he roared.
A towering figure appeared behind him—a God of War standing atop a chariot, not just an illusory projection but a solid entity made of flesh and blood, brought forth by his Dao.
The sword in Liao Cai’s hands glowed red, humming with immense power as it descended toward Long Liu. The sheer force behind the strike tore through space itself, warping reality in its path.
It looked slow, yet moved with terrifying speed. Evading it was impossible.
But did Long Liu even need to?
Long Liu’s lips curled into a contemptuous smile at his pitiful display of power. Behind her, a fifty-meter crimson dragon materialized, its scales glimmering like rubies in the light. Flames gathered in its open maw, burning so intensely that the air around it twisted.
Before Liao Cai’s sword could connect, Long Liu struck first. She thrust her hand forward, and the dragon unleashed a torrent of searing fire, incinerating the space ahead.
At first, Liao Cai’s sword managed to cut through the blaze, splitting the flames momentarily.
His lips curved into a triumphant sneer. “Ha! Weakling beast!”
But his happiness was short-lived. The fire surged forward again, enveloping both his sword and himself. Liao Cai’s eyes widened in terror as the inferno devoured his hands, burning through his protective spiritual qi as if it were paper.

His skin bubbled and melted away, exposing charred bone.
“AAARGH!” His agonizing scream echoed across the ocean as his hands disintegrated, leaving nothing but ash and the heavy sword.
Stumbling backward, he barely managed to preserve what remained of his body. His spirit shattered, and the last remnants of his resolve crumbled.
“S-Save me!” he cried out, his voice breaking with desperation as he fled. “M-Monster!”
Long Liu watched his cowardly retreat with a cold, disdainful glare. “A useless coward till the end.”
Long Liu’s excitement for the hunt vanished, replaced by a cold sense of disappointment. How could a fleeing coward, whose spirit had already shattered, possibly ignite her thrill for battle?
With a flick of her sleeve, the crimson dragon behind her surged forward. Its jaws opened wide, and in a single bite, it swallowed Liao Cai whole.
Muffled screams erupted from within the dragon’s maw, followed by the crunch of bones splintering like dry twigs. The beast chewed mercilessly, crimson flames seeping from the gaps between its teeth.
Long Liu didn’t spare another glance at the pitiful sight. Her blood-red eyes remained indifferent, as though she had merely crushed an insect beneath her feet.
Dong Yun, who had been observing the fight from the ship’s deck, felt a cold shiver crawl down his spine.
‘I better never get on her bad side!’ he swore silently, wiping the sweat from his brow.
As Long Liu landed gracefully back on the ship, her transformation faded away, revealing once more the cute loli with a cold expression.
Behind her, the enemy’s ship finally crumbled under the bombardment. A few cultivators attempted to flee, but they were swiftly hunted down like cornered rabbits, their screams silenced by merciless strikes.
“We should head back and regroup with the other ships. Sect Master should be waiting for us to initiate the final attack against the foreign cultivators,” she said, her tone calm.
Dong Yun gave a nod. He knew that the real battle had yet to begin.
