Chapter 270: Teaching You A Lesson On Behalf Of Prince Shen Yi
As Feng Fan continued to delude himself with grandiose thoughts of heroism, a sudden and intense pull disrupted his musings, drawing his attention like a magnet. Frowning, he commanded the Suppression Relic to stop flying, hovering in mid-air as he tried to make sense of the odd sensation.
‘Uh? What was that?’ He couldn’t quite place his finger on it, but the feeling was strangely familiar—like a distant echo tugging at his soul. Scanning the area, his eyes widened as he finally understood the source.
On the ground, dozens of meters away, two familiar figures caught his eye—Mao Shun and Dong Tao, both chained and being pushed around by a group of Shen Empire soldiers. His gaze swept over the scene, noticing that they weren’t the only captives.
At least a hundred more people were bound and shackled, forming a ragged line of prisoners. Feng Fan could immediately tell they were all cultivators, with the weakest among them being at the Foundation Establishment realm.
“Elder Jiang, stay here. I just saw some friends that could use a little help.” Without waiting for a response, Feng Fan leaped off the Suppression Relic and descended. He made his way toward Mao Shun and Dong Tao with a casual yet arrogant stride.
The soldiers, noticing his approach, instantly grew alert. One of them, a burly man with a coarse voice, stepped forward, glaring at Feng Fan with hostility.
“What do you want? These guys are our merits!”
Feng Fan raised his chin, placing his hands behind his back as he sauntered closer to the soldier, his entire demeanor exuding arrogance and confidence. A smug smirk curled his lips as he stopped right in front of the burly man, his eyes cold.
The soldier, unnerved by the unexpected attitude, tensed up but refused to back down. He was used to dealing with other soldiers trying to steal merits—fighting over captives wasn’t uncommon.
But before he could react, Feng Fan’s hand shot out from behind his back, delivering a crisp, resounding slap to the soldier’s face. The sound echoed through the air like a thunderclap, and a bloody tooth flew from the man’s mouth, skidding across the dirt.
The soldier stumbled back, clutching his jaw in shock and pain.
The other soldiers immediately drew their weapons, aiming at Feng Fan with murderous intent. Their eyes burned with rage, and tension crackled like a storm about to break.
“Fuck! You dare slap me!” the burly soldier snarled, spitting out more blood as he unsheathed his sword. His eyes burned with a mixture of fury and humiliation.
Feng Fan didn’t flinch, his smug smile still firmly in place. He scoffed and took a leisurely step forward, his presence exuding an air of absolute dominance.
“Hmph. You dare to talk shit with me, someone acting under Prince Shen Yi’s direct orders. Do you think you deserved that slap or not?”
The soldier who had been struck froze, his anger momentarily giving way to hesitation. He wasn’t the only one—every other soldier around him hesitated as well, their hostile expressions faltering at the mere mention of Prince Shen Yi.
Everyone knew how ruthless the prince was. To those who failed him or dared to disobey, the best outcome was death.
Feng Fan’s confidence didn’t waver in the slightest, and his attitude remained so natural and commanding that those who didn’t know him would have believed he was in charge. His eyes narrowed, daring any of them to challenge his authority.
“What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?” Feng Fan sneered. “If you still want to challenge me, go ahead. I’ll make sure Prince Shen Yi knows how his loyal soldiers tried to hinder his direct orders.”
The burly soldier faltered, his anger now tempered by fear. He swallowed hard, not daring to push his luck any further. ‘Damn it… If this guy really is connected to Prince Shen Yi, making a move against him could cost me my head!’
Satisfied with the reaction, Feng Fan raised his chin even higher and gave the soldier a dismissive glance. “Now move aside. I’ll be taking these captives off your hands. You don’t want to mess with Shen Yi’s business, do you?”
The burly man hesitated, glaring daggers at Feng Fan but ultimately stepping back with a bitter expression. One by one, the other soldiers lowered their weapons, unsure of what to do. None of them wanted to risk offending someone connected to Prince Shen Yi.
But Feng Fan wasn’t satisfied. He raised his other hand and delivered another slap to the same soldier, even harder than before. The sharp crack echoed through the air, and blood dripped from the soldier’s split lip.
“W-Why?” the soldier stammered, his eyes wide with bewilderment. He had just conceded; why was this crazy man slapping him again?
Feng Fan scoffed, his smug smile widening.
“Hmph, I’m merely teaching you a lesson on behalf of Prince Shen Yi. How could a soldier of our glorious Shen Empire get slapped by a stranger and do nothing? You call yourself a soldier? Pathetic! You’re a disgrace to His Highness! Where’s your pride? Your strength? Shame on you!”
The soldier clenched his fists, his face turning red with a mix of anger and humiliation. Yet, with the supposed weight of Prince Shen Yi’s name behind Feng Fan’s words, he didn’t dare retaliate. The other soldiers looked at each other uncertainly, unsure whether to intervene or just keep their heads down.
“Now, I’ll take these two prisoners. Prince Shen Yi specifically requested them. You can keep the rest. Consider it your lucky day!” Feng Fan declared, his voice brimming with confidence as he strode toward Mao Shun and Dong Tao.
Meanwhile, Mao Shun and Dong Tao looked at Feng Fan with puzzled expressions, unable to make sense of the situation. Who was this arrogant man claiming to be under Prince Shen Yi’s orders? Yet, despite their confusion, an odd sense of familiarity washed over them.
Feng Fan gave them a subtle wink before sending a qi transmission message directly into their minds, “Play along.”
