Chapter 278: Final Battle (4)
“FENG FAN!”
Shen Yi’s roar shook the battlefield, his fury visible for all to see. He couldn’t believe what was happening. An ant who did nothing but cower behind a barrier was tearing his forces apart. His bloodshot eyes locked onto Feng Fan, his voice dripping with venom.
“I won’t kill you immediately… No. I’ll skin you alive and drag out your suffering. I’ll make you beg for death.”
Feng Fan sneered, completely unfazed by the threats. “What a misbehaved child. Come here, and your father will teach you some manners!”
He launched another wave of attacks, once again targeting the weaker cultivators. Panic spread through Shen Yi’s troops like wildfire in a dry forest. Their ranks, already shaken, fell into complete disarray as many turned and fled.
Survival outweighed any loyalty or fear they had for Prince Shen Yi. Even if Shen Yi hunted them down later, that was a concern for the future. Right now, the only thing that mattered was staying alive for the next few minutes.
More and more Return To Void cultivators abandoned the battlefield, further thinning Shen Yi’s forces. It wasn’t long before he noticed. His once-confident expression twisted into sheer rage, his face turning as red as a tomato.
Prince Shen Yi’s eyes burned with fury as he watched his forces scatter in terror like rats. His grip on his spear tightened, veins bulging against his skin.
He swung his spear in a wide arc, a shockwave of spiritual qi erupting from the blade. The energy slashed through the air like a raging tempest, cleaving through the deserters without mercy.
“Anyone who dares to run… dies!” His voice thundered across the plaza, carrying the weight
Feng Fan let out a loud, mocking laugh, amplifying his voice with spiritual qi so that it rang across the plaza, cutting through the chaos.
“Dong Tao, look at this! Our enemies are already desperate; they’re even killing each other!”
Dong Tao shot him a bewildered glance. How could Feng Fan still joke in a situation like this?
Sure, his tactics were effective against the weaker cultivators, but the true threats—the Transcending Tribulation experts—remained untouched. The initial surprise attack had claimed a few, but the rest stood unscathed.
And did it even matter whether there were one or ten of them? The moment Feng Fan’s barrier fell, any one of them could kill them both in an instant.
“Brother Feng, this…”
Dong Tao hesitated, his eyes darting between the chaos outside the barrier and Feng Fan’s unwavering expression.
Feng Fan shot him a confident smirk before sending a qi transmission message. “What are you afraid of? The angrier they get, the more mistakes they’ll make!”
Dong Tao swallowed his doubts and forced a laugh. “You’re right, Brother Feng. The Shen Empire is truly useless! They can’t even handle two puny Nascent Soul realm cultivators. They might as well smash their heads against a wall and kill themselves!”
Feng Fan’s smile widened as he caught sight of the twisted expressions on the remaining enemies outside the barrier. Almost everyone below the Transcending Tribulation realm was either dead or had already fled.
But he didn’t stop. His attacks continued relentlessly, each strike carving deeper into their numbers. Every second he could buy increased their chances of survival.
Minutes passed. By the time the last of the weaker cultivators had fallen, only the Transcending Tribulation experts remained.
It was time for the next phase.
“Dong Tao, go!”
Without hesitation, Feng Fan withdrew his control from the array he had created and turned his full attention to the immortal array imprisoning the Black Turtle Continent’s forces.
‘If there is a god in this world… I just want to say—go to hell!’
His spiritual qi surged as he activated his vision, diving deep into the array’s intricate structure.
With his current mastery, deciphering an array of this level was like a middle-schooler attempting to solve an advanced calculus problem.
‘Forget about understanding it. I’ll force my way through it!’
While Feng Fan focused on the life-or-death task ahead, Dong Tao’s eyes gleamed with resolve. The Suppression Book in his hands flew open, its pages flipping endlessly as if responding to his will.

His hair grew longer, his scholarly aura deepened, and the anger in his gaze vanished, replaced by an unsettling calm. Cold, calculated determination filled his expression.
If Feng Fan turned now, he wouldn’t be surprised to see Dong Tao’s current appearance. It was the same as one of the seven figures he had seen four years ago when Dong Tao helped him elevate his Array Dao to Tier 8.
Dong Tao’s cultivation surged as he forcefully wielded the spiritual qi within the Suppression Book to accomplish something far beyond his current realm. From the moment he first controlled the book, he had been aware of the immense reservoir of qi sealed within it. Yet, he had never dared to tap into it recklessly, waiting for the right moment when its power could serve a greater purpose.
That moment had arrived.
But even with such a huge supply of spiritual qi at his disposal, he harbored no illusions about single-handedly facing ten Transcending Tribulation experts. Against such adversaries, he wouldn’t last more than a few seconds.
Instead, he poured his focus into the Suppression Book. The tome expanded, its size multiplying until it stood as tall as Dong Tao himself. From its pages, a hand emerged, pressing firmly against the ground before pushing itself free from the book’s depths.
It crawled forward, its form solidifying until its figure became unmistakable—Feng Fan.
Or rather, Feng Fan’s clone.
The clone stood motionless for a moment within the array, and as Dong Tao closed his eyes, his full concentration anchored onto it.
On the battlefield, the cultivators of the Shen Empire watched in disbelief as Feng Fan’s clone suddenly sprang into action. His hands moved in a blur, channeling spiritual qi into the array, seizing complete control over it.
The barrage of cannonball-like energy blasts that had ceased moments ago resumed with ferocity, bombarding the enemy ranks once more.
Dong Tao’s objective was clear—buy enough time for Feng Fan to shatter the immortal array.
This was a battle against time. Would they succeed, or would Feng Fan fail before his barrier crumbled?
