Chapter 283: How Could He Possibly Be The One Inviting Trouble?
A year has passed since Prince Shen Yi’s death.
Feng Fan cultivated in seclusion, minding his own business, drawing upon the purified spiritual qi stored within the Suppression Relic. His breakthroughs came quickly, accelerating his spiritual qi absorption at an astonishing pace. Yet, even as his progress accelerated, the relic’s purification process remained leagues ahead, ensuring he never lacked for energy.
‘I’m already at the peak of the Nascent Soul and Marrow Cleansing realms. Just one more step left before I reach the Spirit Severing and Vein Awakening realms.’
However, based on past experiences, the next step would trigger a Heavenly Tribulation. Remaining underground within the White Crow Sect’s domain wasn’t an option. The last thing he wanted was to reduce his own turf to rubble over a mere breakthrough.
‘Alright, Little Brick, I’ll be counting on you!’ Feng Fan said, gripping the Suppression Relic. The ancient artifact hummed in response, as if acknowledging his command.
But when he made his way toward the secret passage leading outside, he was met with an unexpected surprise. The passage was no longer a secret.
While he had been deep in cultivation, the elders had enlarged the underground tunnel, expanding it to accommodate even large controlled demon beasts passing side by side. Before making these changes, Yin Jian and Elder Jiang had approached him, requesting that the sect move back above ground, now that hiding was no longer necessary.
Feng Fan had dismissed them with a simple, “I like it this way.”
With no means to force his hand, the elders had no choice but to accept his decision and adapt.
Of course, the real reason was another. The White Crow Sect was drawing too much attention, and the last thing he wanted was more trouble knocking on his door. Staying underground meant fewer eyes on them.
He believed that the White Crow Sect was always the one bringing trouble to him, not the other way around. After all, Feng Fan saw himself as an amicable person, someone who enjoyed making friends.
How could he possibly be the one inviting trouble?
“Fan, are you leaving the sect?”
A soft, hesitant voice pulled Feng Fan from his thoughts. Turning around, he saw Huang Xue standing there, her expression as unreadable as ever.
He gave a small nod.
“Can I… go with you?” She hesitated, her fingers tightening around the hem of her sleeve. “I-I need to buy some stuff.”
Feng Fan, well-acquainted with her personality, didn’t need to read her mind to know the real reason behind her request. He smiled faintly.
“I’m heading outside to break through my realm,” he said. “Why don’t we go to a nearby city together when I get back?”
Huang Xue’s eyes flickered with a barely perceptible glimmer, but she maintained her usual cold demeanor. “Okay.”
Then, as if afraid he would bite her, she turned on her heel and left in a hurry, like a startled rabbit escaping a predator.
Feng Fan let out a wry chuckle, watching her retreating figure.
‘Is she ever going to overcome that shyness?’
After promising Huang Xue a date, Feng Fan left the White Crow Sect and ventured into the Void Forest in search of a secluded spot. Unfortunately, the previous occupants weren’t too keen on sharing, so he did what any reasonable cultivator would—he evicted them.
Violently.
With the area now clear, he sat cross-legged, focused inward, and circulated his cultivation technique, preparing for the final step. His Nascent Soul split in two, while his veins were flooded with a powerful surge of spiritual qi.
At last, he had broken through to the Spirit Severing and Vein Awakening realm.
But the Heavenly Tribulation he had braced for never arrived. At least, a new technique did.
Oh, this actually looks useful,’ he mused, a grin tugging at his lips. ‘The name is terrible, but hey, I’ve never been picky about that.’
Not only had he gained a new ability, but he also felt a deeper understanding of his existing techniques, as if they had been refined alongside his breakthrough.
‘Too bad, I probably won’t get to use this new technique for a while. All my old playmates died in… inexplicable ways.’

Feng Fan let out a deep sigh. ‘Being invincible is such a lonely burden…’

A massive, majestic flying vessel loomed overhead, its size dwarfing even the largest ship Feng Fan had ever laid eyes on—three times the size, to be exact. As it approached the Dao Seeking School, its immense presence sent ripples through the air, catching the attention of Long Liu, who was standing guard in Fan Ying’s absence.
With a thunderous roar, the ship unleashed a blast of spiritual qi, shattering the Dao Seeking School’s tier 8 array like paper.
Long Liu and the elders responsible for the barrier stood in disbelief. They couldn’t comprehend how anyone could breach such a powerful barrier so effortlessly.
Even though the array had been hastily erected after the last one was destroyed by the Shen Empire, it still shouldn’t have been breached so easily.
Yet, after penetrating the array, the ship didn’t launch any further attacks. It simply hovered in mid-air, casting a long shadow over the grounds. From the ship’s deck, two figures descended—young cultivators, but their presence carried an undeniable weight of power. Both had striking blue hair, a man and a woman, their eyes sharp and confident.
The man’s voice rang out, amplified by his spiritual qi, carrying over the entire sect grounds with commanding force. “Send the person in charge to meet me!”
The disciples of the Dao Seeking School were seething with anger. Not only had these strangers dared to attack their home, but they also had the audacity to issue orders as if they owned the place.
“Who do they think they are? I’ll kick them right back into whatever cave they crawled out of!” one of the disciples growled.
“Hmph, you won’t even get the chance. After I’m done with them, not even their own mother will recognize them!” another disciple spat.
The air was thick with heated curses and threats, but despite the fury, none of the disciples dared to take action. Instead, it was Long Liu who moved forward.
