Chapter 427: Request, Assist
Seeing that everyone had no questions, Mu Xichen said, “Good. Let’s do our best.”
“Yes, Sir.” With that, everyone dispersed to carry out their tasks.
By noon, news of the emergency rescue point had spread far and wide. As rescue teams returned one after another with dozens of survivors, the settlement quickly became crowded with injured people and survivors searching for their families.
With an increasing number of survivors arriving in the settlement, the small team of doctors and nurses soon found themselves overwhelmed by the number of patients. Left with no choice, they sent a message to Mu Xichen requesting support.
Inside one of the tents, a guard reported, “Boss, the medical team is requesting more medicine and additional personnel.”
Hearing this, Mu Xichen turned to one of the administrative staff and asked, “How much medicine do we have left?”
The administrative staff quickly checked the supply list and reported, “Boss, we only have three boxes of antibiotics and one box of antipyretics left.”
“What about other medical supplies?” Mu Xichen asked.
The administrative staff shook his head. “We sent the last batch to the medical team an hour ago. There is nothing left now.”
His words were met with silence inside the tent.
Without medical supplies, treating the injured would become nearly impossible. Even with enough doctors and nurses, they would be unable to provide any help.
After a moment of heavy silence, Mu Xichen said, “I will try to secure more medicine. For now, instruct the doctors and nurses to do their best to save as many survivors as possible.”
The guard nodded. “Yes, Boss.”
As the guard left in a hurry, Mu Xichen stood up and exited the tent as well.
One of the administrative staff sighed and muttered, “I hope the people in the air raid shelter are willing to donate some medicine and supplies.”
The others exchanged glances but remained silent.
The medicine production lines have been shut down for over a year. Anyone who was still holding onto supplies would be reluctant to give them away, knowing there was no telling when—or—more could ever be made.
In these desperate times, a patient’s survival often depended on sheer willpower and the hands of fate.
Half an hour later, Mu Xichen arrived at the air raid shelter. Upon entering the main hall, he saw Jia Xiang and asked, “Miss Jia, do you know where Younger Sister Ran Ran is?”
Jia Xiang thought for a moment and replied, “Yao Ran should be in the dining hall now.”
“Thank you.” Mu Xichen quickly thanked her and headed to the dining hall.
Before long, Mu Xichen entered the dining hall and scanned the area. Spotting Yao Ran seated in a corner with Long Yu and the others, he walked toward them.
“Younger Sister Ran Ran.”
Hearing the familiar nickname, Yao Ran looked up and saw Mu Xichen approaching. She nodded in greeting and said, “Elder Brother Xichen.”
Mu Xichen nodded politely to Long Yu and the others before turning to Yao Ran. “Did I interrupt your meal?” he asked.
Yao Ran shook her head. “No, I just finished lunch.”
Noticing something unusual in his tone, Yao Ran asked, “What’s wrong?”
Mu Xichen didn’t answer but asked back, “Can we talk for a moment?”
“Sure.” Yao Ran stood and followed him to a quieter spot.
Once they were away from the crowd, Yao Ran asked, “What happened?”

After a brief pause, Mu Xichen asked, “Younger Sister Ran Ran, do you have extra medical supplies?”
“Have you started the rescue mission?” Yao Ran inquired.
Mu Xichen nodded. “Yes. Unfortunately, ninety percent of the survivors are injured, and we have run out of medical supplies. Without them, the doctors can’t do much to help the patients.”
After hearing what he said, Yao Ran nodded thoughtfully. She then asked, “I see. How much do you need?”
Hearing this, a glimmer of hope flashed in Mu Xichen’s eyes. He thought for a moment and replied, “Just give me some for now. I will compensate you later.”
Yao Ran had plenty of medical supplies in her storage, so providing Mu Xichen with what he needed wasn’t an issue.
After considering it for a moment, she said, “The survivors are waiting for help, and the time is tight, so we can settle the payment later. Elder Brother Xichen, give me the location of the settlement, and I will send the supplies as soon as possible.”
Knowing she needed time to prepare, Mu Xichen offered, “You don’t need to worry about transportation. I will send someone to pick them up to save you from running back and forth.”
Realizing this would save her time, Yao Ran agreed. “Alright. I will prepare the supplies right away.”
“Thank you,” Mu Xichen said sincerely.
Noticing his tired expression, Yao Ran added, “Elder Brother Xichen, please wait a moment. I will prepare some food for you and the others.”
Realizing that it was lunchtime, Mu Xichen didn’t decline. “Alright.”
While Yao Ran headed to the kitchen, Mu Xichen found an empty seat and waited.
Sitting at the long table nearby, Long Yu overheard Yao Ran and Mu Xichen’s conversation. After thinking for a moment, he asked, “Brother Ling, can you arrange for some people to assist at the emergency rescue point?”
Ling Yi nodded. “No problem. I will discuss it with Brother Chen later.”
After he said that, Li Tianyu chimed in, “Captain Long, I will bring our brothers to help with the rescue mission.”
Long Yu nodded. “Alright. I will join you after I inform Ran Ran.”
With that, they quickly finished their meal. While Ling Yi and Li Tianyu left to gather the soldiers and some members, Long Yu headed to the kitchen to find Yao Ran. When he arrived, he saw her talking with the kitchen staff.
“Ran Ran, I’m heading out to assist with the rescue mission,” he informed her.
Hearing this, Yao Ran stopped what she was doing and turned around. Seeing him, she walked up to him and said, “Be careful.”
Long Yu kissed her forehead and nodded. “I will.”
