The next morning, Yao Ran and Long Yu woke up early. After washing up and having breakfast with their friends, the two of them grabbed their backpacks and weapons before heading to the parking area.

Looking at Shi Xuan and the others, Long Yu said, “There is no need to send us off.”

Shi Xuan looked at him and asked, “Captain, are you sure you don’t want us to go with you?”

Long Yu nodded. He patted Shi Xuan on the shoulder and said, “This place needs you. If we fail to return, you will take over the leadership.”

When Shi Xuan heard this, he clenched his fists and said, “Captain, you must return safely. We will wait for you here.”

“Alright.” Long Yu answered after a moment of silence. Seeing that it was getting late, Long Yu turned to Yao Ran and said, “Let’s go.”

Before leaving, Yao Ran looked at Jia Xiang and said, “Sister Jia, I left the supply list in the main control room. You can use it to track the remaining supplies.”

Jia Xiang nodded. “I know. You two, be careful out there.”

After saying their goodbyes, Yao Ran and Long Yu got into the armored vehicle. Long Yu took one last look at his friends before stepping on the accelerator and driving out of the air raid shelter.

Shi Xuan and the others stood in place, watching until the armored vehicle disappeared from view before returning to their tasks.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Yao Ran pulled a map out of her space and compared it with the map released by The Origin. While marking the safest route, a notification sound came from her watch.

Hearing it, Yao Ran set the map aside and checked the message. Noticing it was from Wu Yehao, she opened it.

[Eldest Young Lady, you might want to see this.]

Attached to the message was a file. Yao Ran opened it, and as she read its contents, her eyes widened in disbelief.

Noticing the change in her expression, Long Yu asked, “Ran Ran, what is it?”

Hearing his question, Yao Ran snapped out of her daze. She read the file a few more times before turning to Long Yu and, with a slightly trembling voice, said, “A Yu, Wu Yehao just sent me a file.”

Long Yu, sensing something was wrong from her expression, waited silently for her to elaborate.

After a moment of hesitation, she finally asked, “A Yu, have you ever heard of Project Zero?”

Long Yu remembered that, in their previous life, Yao Ran had been the main experimental subject of Project Zero. Curious as to why she was suddenly bringing this up, Long Yu asked, “Why are you asking about this?”

Yao Ran took a deep breath before replying, “The one who planned and founded Project Zero is my grandfather.”
