Chapter 487: Unlucky Day
Watching Yao Ran leave, Hao Ze hugged his wife tightly and whispered, “Don’t worry, Wife. I will save our son… and you.”
Leaning into his embrace, his wife remained silent, but a flicker of light appeared in her numb, empty eyes.
Meanwhile, the two men who narrowly escaped death had run a great distance. Realizing that Yao Ran wasn’t pursuing them, they collapsed on the ground, gasping for breath.
After catching his breath, one of them muttered, “Th–that woman is insane.”
The other man nodded in agreement, but he was too exhausted to speak.
Seeing his companion sprawled on the ground like a dead fish, the first man kicked him and urged, “Get up! We need to report this to our client.”
The man on the ground groaned and asked, “Are you sure you want to report this matter to that Young Master? What if he kills us?”
The other man hesitated for a while before clenching his fists. “If we don’t report back, we will be hunted down anyway. Better to report and beg for mercy from that Young Master.”
After considering his words, the other man reluctantly agreed, “Alright.”
With their minds made up, they forced themselves up and headed to the Mission Hall to find the Young Master’s subordinate.
Meanwhile, Yao Ran’s watch chimed with a notification as she made her way back to Tower F. Hearing the alert, she glanced at the screen.
[Attention to all personnel. Please report your location and proceed to the new headquarters immediately.]
Yao Ran’s eyes lit up as she read the message. Rubbing her chin, she fell into deep thought.
‘Looks like The Origin managed to find a safe place. I wonder how Captain Wu and Yao Yuechuan are doing. Maybe I should try to contact them.’
With that thought in mind, Yao Ran quickly sent a message to check on their situation and location.
After confirming that the message was successfully sent, she sighed in relief and muttered, “Since they can receive the message, they should be safe for now.”
She then paused for a moment before sending her own location to The Origin’s headquarters. A few seconds later, a new notification arrived.
Ding!
Yao Ran opened the message and saw that it contained the coordinates for The Origin’s new headquarters. Her eyes flickered as she hastily made her way home.
An hour later, when she arrived at the entrance of Tower F, Yao Ran noticed a large group of people gathered there.
Seeing her approach, their faces lit up, and one of them excitedly shouted, “It’s Miss Yao!”
Hearing that, Yao Ran turned to the young man who had called out and asked, “Do you know me?”
The young man looked momentarily disappointed before replying, “Miss Yao, I work with Uncle Han in the mutant plants’ farmland. We met before and even watched the first sunrise together when the eternal night ended.”
Memories surfaced in Yao Ran’s mind when she heard that. A second later, she nodded and smiled at him. “I remember you. I’m glad you are safe and sound.”
The young man beamed at her words. He nodded and said, “We all survived thanks to your and the senior officers’ early planning and careful consideration.”
Noticing their dirty clothes and tired faces, Yao Ran asked, “Which team are you guys from?”
“We are from the sea route team,” a middle-aged man answered.
Yao Ran pondered for a moment before asking, “Do you know what happened to the land route team?”
The group exchanged uncertain looks before shaking their heads.
After a moment of silence, an older woman spoke up, “I overheard the ship captain say that the land route team had no choice but to drive inland. But after the last signal they sent out, I don’t know what happened to them.”

Considering how severe the mega tsunamis and mega earthquakes were when the meteor struck, it made sense that the land route team was forced inland. Thinking about what might have happened to them, Yao Ran could only sigh and hope for the best.
She looked at the group and asked, “By the way, why are you all staying outside?”
They hesitated before one of them finally replied, “The people living here won’t let us inside.”
Yao Ran’s expression darkened when she heard those words. She then turned to the woman who had just spoken and asked, “Why?”
The woman clenched her hands and explained, “The people on the first floor said we are not family members of the soldiers or staff, so we are not worthy of living in Tower F. They told us to go to the harbor instead.”
Upon hearing this, Yao Ran sneered. She chuckled coldly and said, “I didn’t want to cause trouble, but it seems today is my unlucky day. People kept coming and causing trouble.”
The others shuddered at her chuckle, exchanging uneasy glances as they all thought the same thing: ‘Those people are doomed today.’
Turning back to the others, Yao Ran asked, “Have you settled the rent and registered your identities?”
They all nodded as an answer.
After a moment of silence, an old man added, “Young Master Xu heard about our arrival and arranged everything. He even rented the entire top floor for us.”
Yao Ran nodded in understanding and said, “Since Elder Brother Ruihan rented the entire top floor, you can go up and clean your rooms.”
“What about the people on the first floor?” one of them asked worriedly. “They are still blocking the door.”
Yao Ran smiled reassuringly and replied, “Just go up and leave that to me. Once you have settled in, someone will inform you about your new tasks.”
Hearing that they could finally settle down and find work, the group smiled and quickly responded, “Yes, Miss Yao.”
With that, Yao Ran led them inside. Just before they entered Tower F, a group of women blocked their way.
Yao Ran looked at them calmly and said, “Please don’t block the entrance. My team members are tired and need rest.”
