Chapter 53: Gentle And Considerate
Long Yu needs to hide his motorboat while Yao Ran stays to guard the supplies, so Shi Xuan and the others need to move them. It took them two trips to bring all the supplies to the 20th floor.
After Long Yu came back, he and Yao Ran climbed up the stairs with cold expressions.
Some people still couldn’t hold themselves back and asked to borrow Long Yu’s motorboat, saying they would pay him. Looking at their calculating eyes, Yao Ran and Long Yu ignored their requests and walked upstairs without even looking at those people.
Seeing that the two of them were coldly ignoring them, a middle-aged woman yelled at them, and the others followed suit, scolding those ruthless and inhuman people on the 20th floor.
Long Yu was exhausted and didn’t want to speak, while Yao Ran regarded their words as farts.
Back on the 20th floor, Yao Ran went back to her apartment to get iodine, bandages, and anti-inflammatory medicines. Then she came to unit 2001 and saw them busy dividing supplies.
Yao Ran approached Jia Xiang and said, “Sister Jia, let me help you clean your wounds.”
Jia Xiang glanced at her bleeding arm, smiled at Yao Ran, and said, “Thanks.”
The wound was not deep, and it can heal in a few days after disinfecting and bandaging it.
She handed Jia Xiang the anti-inflammatory medicine and said, “Keep the wounds away from water for a few days until it scabs over.”
Jia Xiang looked at the neatly bandaged wound and asked, “Yao Ran, are you a doctor?”
Yao Ran put away the iodine and bandages and replied, “I am a medical student at Haicheng University, specializing in traditional medicine and acupuncture.”
When the others heard this, they all became excited.
Huang Qian slapped his thigh and said excitedly, “Great! We really need a doctor now. Yao Ran, you can make a lot of money with your medical skills.”
Hearing his words, Yao Ran shook her head and said, “I am still a student and don’t know much. I can deal with minor injuries and common diseases, but I am not qualified enough to be called a doctor.”
Although she has many years of experience as a doctor from her previous life, Yao Ran never planned to become a doctor at the end of the world. Doctors and nurses have the highest mortality rate, second only to soldiers.
It’s too dangerous to work in a hospital that lacks medicines. Based on her experience in her previous life, most doctors and nurses died not from natural disasters but from riots in hospitals and were killed by patients’ family members.
Rather than tirelessly working for a meager salary, Yao Ran is more willing to find other ways to obtain supplies. Furthermore, she does not want to work for the government and be bound by rules.
After Yao Ran said that, Long Yu motioned to Shi Xuan to take Yao Ran’s share and said, “We use the money you gave me to buy these supplies. This is your share. Take it.”
Yao Ran looked at the pile of supplies and saw that they gave her eight 20kg bags of rice, three 10kg bags of flour, two boxes of instant noodles, a small bag of medicine, two packages of salt, several packages of dried vegetables and mushrooms, and a box of alcohol cubes.
She looked at the remaining supplies, which had been divided into six parts, and said, “I grow vegetables and mushrooms, so I will give these dried vegetables and mushrooms to you guys.”
“I have some medicine at home. You guys can share these medicines. I also still have some gas bottles at home, so you can also share the alcohol cubes.”
After she had divided the supplies, Yao Ran gave Long Yu, Shi Xuan, Huang Qian, and Jia Xiang each a bag of rice and said, “This is your payment for going out to buy supplies for me.”
Seeing that she returned most of the supplies, Long Yu said, “Yao Ran, you can keep the supplies.”
Yao Ran shook her head, “Even brothers have to calculate things clearly between them. What I give you is what you deserve.”
Long Yu and others took a look at her for a moment before accepting the supplies and divided the supplies she returned into six parts.
There were only four bags of rice, three bags of flour, two boxes of instant noodles, and two bags of salt left.
Yao Ran stood up and said, “Now that you are all coming back safely, let’s celebrate. I will cook something. We can eat together later.”
Seeing that she had stood up, Long Yu also stood up and said, “Let me help you carry the rice.”
Yao Ran did not refuse, and the two of them moved rice and other supplies to her apartment.

Watching the two of them walk away, Huang Zhihui couldn’t help but ask her elder brother, “Elder Brother, you said that your Captain is very cold and stern. Why do I feel that he is a very gentle and considerate person?”
Huang Qian rolled his eyes at his younger sister and said, “If you want to live for a long time, don’t say these words in front of Captain. Otherwise, your elder brother won’t be able to save you if you annoy Captain Long.”
Huang Zhihui snorted and retorted, “Elder Brother, you are so useless.”
Seeing them quarreling again, Deng Qiqi said helplessly, “Elder Brother Qian, Hui Hui, please stop quarreling.”
The brother and sister turned to look at her and said in unison, “We didn’t quarrel. We just exchanged ideas.”
“….” Deng Qiqi was speechless and stopped persuading them.
While the siblings were still dissing each other, Shi Xuan stood up and said, “I’m going to cook something.”
Jia Xiang had no talent for cooking, so she said, “I will clean the house.”
Deng Qiqi had nothing to do, so she stood up and followed Shi Xuan to the kitchen. “Elder Brother Xuan, let me help you wash the vegetables.”
