Chapter 63: Sharing Information
Shi Xuan showed Yao Ran the gas stove and said, “I have repaired several gas stoves. This one is for you.”
She took the gas stove and said, “Thank you.”
Shi Xuan nodded and smiled, “Miss Yao, my friends and I want to invite you to dinner today to thank you for letting us stay here.”
Hearing this, Yao Ran did not refuse. “Alright. I will definitely come. Thank you for inviting me.”
Shi Xuan smiled, “This is what we should do. Then I will go back and prepare for the dinner.”
After he left, Yao Ran put the gas stove in the kitchen and connected it to one of the gas cylinders there. Then, she went back to her daily training.
A few hours later, Yao Ran finished her daily training and took a shower. Coming out from the space, she harvested a bunch of vegetables and mushrooms from the balcony and the planting rooms. She then left the apartment with a basket full of fresh vegetables, mushrooms, and tomatoes.
Just when she knocked on the door of unit 2001, Yao Ran saw Long Yu coming out of unit 2002. Seeing her there, he locked the door and walked up to her.
Not long after, Jia Xiang opened the door and smiled at them. “Please come in. Dinner is almost ready.”
Yao Ran walked in, handed over the basket to Jia Xiang, and said, “This is a small gift to celebrate the housewarming.”
Jia Xiang’s eyes lit up when she saw the fresh vegetables, tomatoes, and mushrooms. After the natural disasters began, vegetables, meat, mushrooms, fruits, and other fresh products disappeared from the market.
Not to mention fresh vegetables. Even dried vegetables and pickles were fought over by people as they were a world delicacy. Therefore, this basket of fresh vegetables, tomatoes, and mushrooms is actually more precious than gold in their current situation.
Jia Xiang hugged the basket tightly and smiled at Yao Ran, “Thank you, Yao Ran.”
Behind her, Long Yu closed the door and followed the happy Jia Xiang to the living room.
When Long Yu saw that only Huang Qian and Huang Zhihui were in the living room, he went to the kitchen and placed a plastic bag containing instant noodles and canned food on the counter. Since Shi Xuan and Deng Qiqi were busy cooking, Long Yu left without saying anything.
With the addition of fresh vegetables, tomatoes, and mushrooms, Shi Xuan prepared several more dishes for tonight’s dinner.
They sat around the low table in the living room while Shi Xuan and Deng Qiqi brought the dishes out from the kitchen. Looking at the stir-fried vegetables, chili potato shreds, pork dumplings, and a big bowl of mushroom soup, everyone couldn’t wait to move their chopsticks.
The dishes were very simple, but Huang Qian, Shi Xuan, Jia Xiang, Deng Qiqi, and Huang Zhihui almost cried after taking the first bite. These two days, they finally live decent lives after the typhoon hits the world.
They finally had a roof over their heads, hot water to wash themselves with, and delicious food to fill their bellies. They even smile in their dreams while sleeping at night. It feels so good to have a house and a full belly.
While eating, Huang Qian looked at Long Yu and said, “Captain, Yao Ran, if it weren’t for you two, we might need to live in the rescue center now. Thank you for letting us live here.”
He raised his glass and made a toast toward Long Yu. “I would like to toast you two. Many thanks for all the help you two have given us these days.”
After Huang Qian drank the water, others followed suit.
Long Yu knew they were sincere and said, “We are friends. Helping each other is what I should do.”
Seeing them toasting each other, Yao Ran felt a little envious. She had lived for two lifetimes but had never had a single sincere friend.
Yao Ran really wanted to know what it feels like to have friends to help her when she is in trouble, a friend she can trust and will never abandon her no matter what happens in the future.
Long Yu, who was sitting next to her, noticed the change in her mood and asked, “What’s wrong? Is the food not to your liking?”
Yao Ran came back from her thoughts, shook her head, and smiled, “No. It’s delicious.”
While eating, Shi Xuan said, “With the military iron-blooded tactic, the situation outside has stabilized a bit. I heard that the government has allocated supplies to department stores, and citizens can buy them according to their needs. Shall we go together tomorrow?”
Yao Ran nodded, “Yes. If we want to go, we’d better leave early tomorrow.”
Huang Qian picked up a piece of vegetable and said, “By the way, I saw many people diving underwater to salvage supplies today.”

Jia Xiang nodded and added, “Yes. I also saw it. They went to a nearby supermarket, and the water was crowded with people. Unfortunately, the water was too deep, and most people didn’t have the equipment. Several people were even swept away by the water current and disappeared.”
Huang Qian sighed and said, “I heard that some skilled divers managed to salvage something, but most of them were damaged. Even so, those people couldn’t bear to throw the supplies away.”
Shi Xuan shook his head and sighed. “If it weren’t for Captain reminding us to go to buy supplies, we would be starving right now.”
Hearing this, Long Yu said calmly, “Yao Ran reminded me. You should thank her instead of me.”
Sensing the gloomy atmosphere, Yao Ran decided to change the topic and asked, “Shi Xuan, do you know what time the supermarket will be open tomorrow?”
Shi Xuan thought for a while and replied, “Starting tomorrow, the supermarket will be open at eight o’clock every morning and closed at five o’clock in the evening.”
Yao Ran thought for a while and looked at the others, “I’m afraid there will be many people going. How about we leave at six o’clock?”
