Chapter 118: Looming Danger
In less than half an hour, the remaining 49 points were filled up.
[Mental Power: 149 points]
She can think of the Mind Palace as a power bank, but it’s not unlimited.
If the mental energy inside falls to a certain level, she would experience lethargy and other negative effects.
Nanzhi opened her eyes.
Before going out, she took a bath on the Daily Dungeon to get rid of the bloody smell and rubbed herself with bamboo leaves.
Once finished, she exited the Daily Dungeon and secretly gave Lin Weihao the pouch containing the spars.
As inconvenient as it was, both of them had planned to tell the others about their superpowers once the others awoke too.
Lin Weihao found a vacant room and started recovering his lost metal energy as well before calling for Bingwen.
Bingwen and Lin Weihao became busy dismantling the toy cars they found in the toy shops near the children’s Day Care center.
As well as the cameras, phones from the sister-in-law, and the drones they found in the trunk of the jeeps.
They can’t fly the drone in this weather and only opted for a ground search.
After two hours, they successfully made three rubber track-wheeled cars.
They covered them with bamboo leaves before sending one of them to the depths of the tropical forest.
The route Bingwen picked was the lake where there was no debris, making the journey smooth.
The other car was controlled to explore the Flower Hall.
Images were fed back to the two phones.
Everyone squeezed to see the images.
Just five minutes after the car moved, they could already see large wolves.
Bingwen stopped the car whenever there was a wolf approaching to prevent them from discovering it.
Luckily, the wolf didn’t seem to notice the car.
It circled around the tropical forest and headed to the frozen lake underneath the bridge connecting to the Plant Conservatory, becoming their eyes.
Nanzhi and Lin Weihao counted the total wolves in the tropical rainforest.
24…27…30…32…34…
In every alien beast’s wolf pack, there were always three types of members: the scouts, or the fastest ones; the warriors, or the powerful fighters of the pack; and the ones that hunt for the pack.
And lastly, is the leader, the main force, the most powerful out of all the wolves.
But so far, she hadn’t seen the leader.
Nanzhi narrowed her eyes.
Where could he be?
Everyone focused their eyes on the screen after the toy car managed to reach the entrance of the Plant Conservatory.

Just a few meters more.
Nanhzi leaned closer.
But just as everyone could see the situation inside, the images were gone.
Only a pitch-black screen remained.
“Brother Bing, what happened? Did the battery run out?” Feng Ran asked.
Bingwen shook his head. “It was still at 50%.”
Two minutes later, the camera of the car Hei Qian had been controlling had also stopped functioning.
However, Nanzhi and Lin Weihao saw something amiss before the screen went black.
….
Inside the seed vault, after treating the injured soldiers and transfusing the needed blood, Wang Chul had everyone count the remaining supplies.
“8 handguns, 12 rifles, three grenades, 30 boxes of ammunition, 25 MREs, 11 daggers, 3 medicine kits….” His expression wasn’t good. “Is this it?”
The soldiers nodded.
There would have been more if they hadn’t dropped the bags and the jeeps hadn’t been taken away.
Most of the weapons are in the trunk.
The operation was planned perfectly, but they miscalculated one factor—the survivors.
The soldiers collectively thought.
Wang Chul didn’t despise all the survivors; some of them risked their safety and helped the military.
His eyes swept to the three men leaning on the shelves with their heads burrowed on their arms.
From where he was sitting, he could feel a depressed air enveloping them.
He called them out.
The three men looked at Wang Chul.
“What are your names, and what are your previous jobs?”
The men looked at each other before answering.
“Zhang Xin, I used to be a foreman for a construction team and was just promoted to a supervisor last month.”
It was a middle-aged man wearing a royal blue long-sleeve shirt who answered first after a short silence.
His black hair had traces of white strands, and the corners of his eyes had old scars.
“Cang Zhou, a renovation supervisor. He and I worked on the same project a few months ago.” Cang Zhou was younger than Zhang Xin.
He was wearing a white shirt that is smeared with blood and dirt. His face was thinner, and he had a birthmark on his forehead, hidden by his bangs.
And lastly…
“Cang Min, an architect.” The last man looked like a fresh graduate.
“My name is Wang Chul. I admired your bravery last night. Once we get back to the base, I’ll write you a letter of commendation. You will have no problem landing a good job there.”
The men weren’t very happy.
What’s the use of it? They didn’t even know if their wives and mother were alive!
Bitterness filled their faces as they said perfunctory thanks.
Wang Chul didn’t have time to comfort them because he still needs to focus on the task.
“Where did you see the last jeep?”
Last night, after one of the dome beams fell on him, he wasn’t able to remember anything after that.
“I remembered it was near the bridge in the Maple Garden in the Flower Hall.”
He borrowed one of the soldiers’ satellite phones and found out they were not working at all.
Xuan Yi didn’t lift his eyes from his research journal as he said, “There is no signal inside the vault.”
Wang Chul stood up and wanted to go to the entrance of the vault, but Xuan Yi dropped unfortunate news: “The moment you go out, there are wolves who will divide your meat.”
Wang Chul stopped in his tracks.
Turning around, he said, “But if we stayed here longer, food would run out, and the weather would only become worse. We need to get out of here soon.”
He suddenly remembered one thing. He walked toward Xuan Yi. “Hold on, if there are wolves on the entrance, how did you exactly save us from them last night?”
…
Meanwhile, in the Maple Garden in the Flower Hall, one could see six grey and white circling around the jeep, sniffing each corner before smelling the air.
There was a sound of wood branches breaking before an oppressive aura spread out, frightening the wolves.
The wolves pressed their bodies on the ground and lowered their heads, making way for the large creature to pass.
