Chapter 128: Points System
The system for earning points is the same.
You need to get a job, exchange supplies, or complete missions.
Since the registrar was only in charge of recording the base residents’ information into the database, Nanzhi and Yu Baoyin had to find the mission hall, which was in the center of the building.
Nanzhi said to the person in the registrar that they were going to the mission hall in case someone looks for them.
After walking around in the hallway for five minutes, they finally found the place they were looking for.
A checkpoint was stationed outside Mission Hall’s entrance, shaped like an arc.
Soldiers and survivors dressed in thick down jackets could be seen going in and out.
The Mission Hall was like a lobby of a hotel.
In the center were six white reception desks. White boards with scribbles were propped on the walls behind them.
Even if the weather is cold, there were still survivors in the lobby.
Weapons are forbidden inside.
Yu Baoyin’s gun was confiscated, and so was Nanzhi’s machete.
The two occupied the last seats in the waiting area while reading the notes on the whiteboards.
Yu Baoyin was very interested in the jobs.
Once she saw the base was recruiting seamstresses, tailors, and dressmakers, her face glowed.
On the other hand, Nanzhi decided to skim through available missions.
Luckily, the base had open rescue and supply search missions.
It says any civilian who wanted to join rescue missions is welcome.
Food and water for the duration of the mission are free, but a waiver must be signed before joining.
For this kind of mission, points are awarded daily.
In a supply search mission, the military will provide information and routes, and the team will have to pay them 10% to 15% of the total supplies they looted.
This was very generous considering other bases would not easily settle for 15%.
It could go as high as 50%.
She heard the base in the capital demanded around 25% to 30% for awakeners and 35% to 40% for non-awakeners.
Lastly, there was also a mission of killing aggressive animals.
Additional points will be awarded for those teams or individuals who can carry back their corpses.
Nanzhi’s gaze halted on the printed image under the mentioned mission.
It was the image of a spar.
It stated that the base was willing to pay 10 points for every spar.
This was no suprising for her.

A group of men engaged in a conversation walked behind her.
“Have you seen those spars yet? I’ve been with the supply search team since yesterday and hunted some aggressive large rats while at it. But when the soldiers tried to open their heads, we saw none. I don’t know if the base is just making a fool of us. Are these spars even real?” The voice seems frustrated.
“Doesn’t it look like gems? If we can find an abandoned jewelry shop and find a similar-looking gem, doesn’t it mean we can be rich?” Someone said in a calculative tone.
“Fat chance. I saw someone yesterday trying to exchange gems and passed it as spars, but the base easily identified that they were gems. That person was given a warning and 5 points were deducted from his card when he tried to insist.”
Because of the disasters, the world structure is gradually shifting.
Goods like diamonds, rare gems, and jade had become worthless and the price of food and water increased drastically.
They cannot be bought simply by money anymore.
The military adapted a new currency, and everyone had to start from scratch.
For this group of people who lived a luxurious life before, adapting to the new lifestyle was very hard.
Given an opportunity to make money, they couldn’t restrain themselves from coming up with the idea.
Nanzhi’s gaze didn’t linger on the mission board.
She quickly asked how the points for exchange supplies were worth.
The person in charge elaborated.
“It depends on the quality but the standard points are 10 points for 5 kilograms of foods, 15 points for 5 kilograms of fresh goods, 10 points for 20 kilograms of non-food supplies, and points vary for other items…”
Nanzhi inquired about a few more questions, such as where she could exchange supplies and what if she wanted to sell or buy supplies.
The person told her there are two markets. One is owned by the military, and the other one is a public trade market inside the survivor’s camp.
The military shop had a fixed set of prices. The latter is more flexible.
After getting her questions answered, Nanzhi left the desk with two papers in her hand.
They were applications for a supply search and rescue mission.
When she returned to her seat, she saw Yu Baoyin’s sad appearance.
It turned out the sewing job she wanted to apply for is currently not accepting more applicants.
“It’s the only one thing I’m good at, but it’s full! The person said it was because the materials couldn’t keep up with the demands. Additionally, the department will probably stopped operating a week later too because of the weather.” Yu Baoyin was crestfallen. She remembered the textile warehouse they discovered.
Considering the weather and the wolves, Sister Nan’s boyfriend will probably retrieve the supplies only after winter.
Nanzhi looked at her face quietly, saying, “How about leaving your application. You can never know. What if someone quit the job, or what if the military discovered a textile supply point nearby? As you have said, there is a shortage of winter clothes. The moment they find materials, they might hire more seamstresses and tailors to produce more winter clothes. An early bird catches the worm.”
Although their personalities are very different, they both share the same sentiment of being independent.
Nanzhi could feel that Yu Baoyin didn’t want to fully rely on her.
Yu Baoyin heard Nanzhi’s words and became lively again. “You’re right, Sister Nan! How could I give up so easily?!”
The girl quickly borrowed a pen and wrote her information and pestered the woman in charge of the job application.
After flashing her with cuteness, the woman at the desk finally accepted it reluctantly. “Alright, I will reserve a spot for you. But don’t get your hopes up.”
“Thank you, beautiful Auntie! ” Yu Baoyin was especially happy.
Nanzhi looked at the exchange supplies point before leaving the Mission Hall.
Coincidentally, they ran into Bingwen and Hei Qian. The two just only finished lining up for congees.
