Chapter 130: Excessive Worry cause Sickness
Startled, Nanzhi wasn’t expecting to meet Lin Yicheng here.
“Big Sister, it’s really you!”
Excited and happy, Lin Yicheng let go of her jacket’s hem and hugged her right thigh tightly, hopping in place.
“It’s really Big Sister! It’s really Big Sister!”
Yu Baoyin raised a brow, her curiosity piqued.
“Sister Nan, who is this?”
As she took a closer look, she noticed the boy’s features bore a striking resemblance to Lin Weihao, at least three points similar.
“It’s Lin Weihao’s nephew,” Nanzhi explained, her voice softening.
She gently picked up the little boy and cradled him in her arms.
A rare warmth suffused her eyes as the soft, warm bundle snuggled closer, his small hands clutching her sleeves like lifelines.
Only after Yu Baoyin spoke did Lin Yicheng, the little dumpling, notice her presence.
His round eyes sparkled with curiosity and delight.
Clearing his throat, he stood a bit straighter and waved his hands adorably.
“Hello, pretty sister! I’m Lin Yicheng! You can call me Little Chen or Chen’er!”
As he tilted his head to one side, the floppy ears of his bear-hoodie fell over his forehead, dimples deepening on his cheeks when he smiled.
Yu Baoyin’s eyes instantly turned to hearts. She gasped, her hand flying to her chest.
“Kawaii!”
Unable to resist, she poked his right cheek. The soft, chubby texture was irresistible.
Nanzhi’s free hand pinched one of the bear ears lightly.
She brushed his stray hair behind his ears tenderly.
Are all children this cute?
Her heart melted turning into a warm puddle.
With a quiet click, the door to the unit opened, and they stepped inside.
The room was cloaked in darkness. Nanzhi’s fingers brushed along the wall until they found the switch.
Click.
The soft glow of the lights spread across the room, illuminating a scene that took her by surprise.
“I didn’t expect it to be furnished already,” Yu Baoyin remarked, her tone filled with awe.
A cozy living room unfolded before them, complete with white sofas and two cushioned chairs.
An oval burgundy carpet lay underfoot, plush and inviting.
To the right, an open kitchen revealed itself, furnished with a fireplace, a fully stocked pantry, and elegant glass shelves holding wine glasses.

A small partition wall separated the living area.
Shelves displayed auspicious jade figurines, a miniature gold bonsai tree, and neatly arranged books.
A copper incense burner, shaped like a dragon, stood near the shelf’s edge.
The calming lingering scent of sandalwood wove through the air.
Ink-wash landscapes depicting misty mountains and rivers of the Qianhe landscape hung on both side of the walls alongside painting of calligraphy.
In the far corner, white muslin curtains veiled the corridor leading to the bathroom.
Nanzhi’s eyes narrowed.
Not a single cobweb, not even a speck of dust. It was as if someone had been cleaning the place daily.
The pristine cleanliness, felt like a memory of the house before the apocalypse.
“What a beautiful house!” Lin Yicheng clapped his hands in delight.
His gaze swept the room with unrestrained joy.
The spacious living room was perfect for playing!
Yu Baoyin’s eyes glimmered with admiration.
Nanzhi gently placed Lin Yicheng on the sofa she sat beside him.
“Why are you out here alone?” she asked, her voice firm but not unkind.
Though Area No. 3 was heavily guarded, allowing a child to wander unsupervised was still dangerous.
Under her steady gaze, Lin Yicheng’s shoulders drooped.
He confessed, “I haven’t seen Uncle in days. I heard he got hurt, and I wanted to see him… and I wanted to see you too.”
The clever boy had convinced the butler and soldiers to play hide-and-seek, slipping away unnoticed during the game.
His first goal had been to find the elevator, but when he saw a familiar figure next door, he couldn’t resist checking.
He didn’t expect it was really his Sister!
“Big Sister, I missed you so much! Every day, I wanted to call you! Uncle said to be patient, but I couldn’t wait anymore. Did you miss me too? How about you live with us so I can see you every day!”
Nanzhi’s lips curved into a soft smile.
“Of course, I missed you.”
Yu Baoyin, observing the exchange, was stunned.
She had never seen this side of Nanzhi before—gentle, warm, and brimming with a maternal tenderness that seemed entirely out of character.
Her voice took on a soothing, patient tone as she explained.
“Yicheng, I know you want to see your uncle. But he’s resting so he can get better. The weather is bad, and if you catch a cold, everyone will worry. Your uncle, grandmother, and great-grandfather would feel sad if you got sick. And if they get too worried, they might get sick too. Do you want that to happen?”
Lin Yicheng’s eyes grew round with guilt. He shook his head firmly.
“No… I don’t want them to get sick.”
Yu Baoyin patted his head approvingly.
“What a sensible little boy you are!”
Meanwhile, outside the hallway, the Lin family’s butler and a group of soldiers were searching frantically.
When they didn’t find the young master inside the residence, they turned their attention to the corridor.
Click.
The door to unit 1502 opened, and their eyes zeroed in on the figure emerging from within.
Relief washed over them like a tidal wave.
Lin Yicheng was safe.
Pan Chen, the Lin family butler, rushed forward, his hand pressed over his chest as if steadying his racing heart.
“Young Master! You nearly frightened me to death!”
The old man’s face was pale with worry. His breathing came in short bursts, and he pounded his back lightly with his fist.
Lin Yicheng lowered his head, a guilty pout on his lips.
“I’m sorry… I just wanted to see Uncle.”
Pan Chen knelt, his old bones creaking as he grasped the child’s hands. He patted them gently.
“I know, I know. Just don’t run off like that again, alright?”
“Okay,” Lin Yicheng whispered, eyes downcast.
Pan Chen stood and turned to Nanzhi with a respectful smile, though his gaze remained watchful.
“Miss, I am Pan Chen, the Lin family butler. Thank you so much for watching over the Young Master. I hope he didn’t trouble you.”
Yu Baoyin laughed, waving her hand dismissively.
“Not at all! He’s such a cutie!”
Lin Yicheng tugged on Nanzhi’s sleeve, his eyes pleading silently.
“Big Sister…”
His reluctance to leave was clear, but even he understood the need to listen to elders.
Though Pan Chen’s demeanor was warm, Nanzhi noticed the sharp vigilance in his eyes.
The soldiers standing behind him hadn’t relaxed their grip on their rifles.
Nanzhi remained calm, but she was fully aware—one wrong move, and they would not hesitate to draw their weapons.
