Chapter 138: Hailing Troubles (3)
Inside the temporary ward, Auntie Yang’s child had just been admitted. The same middle-aged woman sat on the neighboring bed, her eyes blazing with anger as she glared at Auntie Yang and her child.
“Excuse me! When will my son be treated?” she demanded, her voice sharp and impatient.
The medic, trying to stay calm, replied, “We’re prioritizing based on urgency, Ma’am. This child’s temperature is higher than your son’s. I assure you, we’ll check on your son after this.”
Despite the additional medics, the hospital still faced a severe imbalance in staff-to-patient ratios. Everyone was doing their best, but it was clearly not enough.
“Prioritize based on urgency? Is unconscious not urgent enough?” the woman barked, her voice echoing through the ward. “Excuse me, but I need to know why my son hasn’t been seen yet!”
The exhausted medics paused, startled by the woman’s livid face. She was relentless, her eyes narrowed in fury.
“Ma’am, please sit down. The other medics are still attending to patients based on the severity of their conditions—”
“Severity?” the woman scoffed, “I’m sure that child will be fine! Their immune system is stronger than an adult’s! Look at my son first!”
Auntie Yang remained calm. She understood that the woman was only concerned for her child.
The Cang family and Zhang Xin were also in the room, patiently waiting. Their heads throbbed from the middle-aged woman’s incessant shouting.
Cang Rou, unable to tolerate the tension, turned toward the woman and gasped in surprise. “Hey… hey, your son is awake!”
The middle-aged woman whipped around, her eyes widening in disbelief. When she saw her son regaining consciousness, a radiant smile spread across her face, and she rushed to hug him. But instead of embracing her, the man lunged at her, scratched her arms.
“Ahh!” she screamed.
The entire ward froze in shock.
It wasn’t just her son. One by one, the other patients began to wake, their eyes glazed and wild, and they attacked the nearest person.
A man burst into the room, his face contorted in terror, screaming as he ran. “They’re all… they’re all attacking people!”
Zhang Xin quickly helped restrain Cang Zhou and Cang Min, who were trying to bite the two women of the Cang family.
Auntie Yang’s face crumbled when she saw her own child, Dan Dan, struggling to hurt her.

As chaos erupted inside the ward, the hospital’s patients flooded out in a panic, only to find themselves trapped by the heavy hailstorm outside. Their faces drained of color as they realized there was no escape.
….
Meanwhile, in the underground bunker, the largest goat, a black-and-white male, turned toward Zhang Heng.
Its once-soft brown eyes were now bloodshot, glowing with an eerie crimson under the harsh lights. Thick drool hung from its mouth, dripping onto the floor as it snarled, its teeth bared.
“Everyone, stay back!” Xiao Hei shouted, holding his hand up to keep the workers from approaching the goat.
Workers scrambled to the exit as Zhang Heng steeped closer to the pen, his sharp eyes scanning the animals for further signs of abnormality. The other goats’ bodies trembled, their muscles building unnaturally, as if they were on the verge of bursting from within.
Their breath came in ragged gasps, fogging up the reinforced glass with every exhale.
Before they could retreat far enough, one of the goats let out a bloodcurdling scream and reared back.
Before Xiao Hei could issue another command, the goat charged at the glass barrier, slamming into it with such force that the floor trembled.
The other animals followed, moving wild and frenzy.
The workers gasped as a crack spread across one of the glass panels, creating spiderweb-like patterns.

One of the goats let out a chilling scream and reared back, its hooves smashing into the already-cracked glass, shattering it completely.
Shards of glass flew in all directions as the enraged goats burst free, their eyes blazing with fury.
Xiao Hei stood protectively in front of Zhang Heng, grabbing a tranquilizer gun in his shaking hands, but it was clear that it was too late.
“Everyone out now! Evacuate the other livestock!” Zhang Heng said, but his attention wavered for a split second as his mind raced. He quickly slipped out of Xiao Hei’s notice, heading toward the sows and piglets.
The workers and researchers ran to the pens, only to be confronted by a horrifying sight. Some goats had already begun devouring the chickens, their jaws slick with blood.
“Cluck!” The remaining chickens scrambled in a frenzy, running straight into the workers and researchers, desperately seeking escape.
But the goats weren’t far behind. Their hooves stomped the ground as they charged, their vicious bleats echoing through the air.
The soldiers, stunned by the carnage, arrived on the scene, weapons drawn. This was unlike anything they’d ever seen—goats turning feral and attacking the other animals, but humans as well.
Without hesitation, they fired tranquilizers into the chaos, trying to subdue the rampaging animals. But the goats seemed unaffected, their rage growing with each failed attempt.
“Reload, reload!” the soldiers shouted, firing round after round, but it was clear the tranquilizers weren’t enough. The goats were more than just ordinary animals now.
Prompts flickered before the Nanzhi’ eyes.

Her guess was right.
Amid the chaos, Nanzhi’s instincts kicked in, sensing a strange fluctuation in the air.
Her gaze darted to the ventilation ducts above the goats’ enclosure. There, she saw it—an unnatural disturbance in the airflow.
Trusting her instincts, she used her mental power to explore the area. The sensation that followed was like tiny electrical pulses, prickling her skin.
Mental Energy?
Her eyes quickly scanned for any cameras. There was one, but it only covered the pen. The vent was out of its view.
Without hesitation, she activated the emergency shutter, sealing off the vent using her telekinetic power.
Thud—
The unsettling feeling in her stomach eased a little.
The soldiers were busy, too distracted by the madness to notice Zhang Heng’s presence.
Through the remaining glass panels, Nanzhi saw him: he was struggling to open the doors of the pigpens, pushing the pigs and piglets out. The sows hesitated, reluctant to leave without their babies. Zhang Heng grabbed crates, filled them with hay, and gently placed the piglets inside.
Before he can even finished, he heard a bleat and saw goats ahead, looking at him.
The sows behind him as if afraid by the dangerous aura the goats were exuding, retreated behind Zhang Heng.
But as he stepped back, his foot caught the edge of a feed trough. He fell hard, the wind knocked from his lungs as he crashed to the ground.
