Chapter 222: Crystal Water Facility Mission (2)
Nanzhi yawned.

Last night, after paying someone a visit, she had entered the Weekly Dungeon.

She was finally Level 23, and her weekly dungeon attempts had increased to two. She had used one of them last night.

The second floor of the pagoda was set in a snowy forest, where she had to face hundreds of wolves, chitterfiends, and hounds. These monsters were far stronger than the ones she had encountered in the Private Compound, and their coordination was impeccable.

The third floor transported her into an ant tunnel, where she had to battle Winged Reapers, Soldier Ants, Lesser Mutant Ants, and finally, the Ant Queen—all over again.

To make things worse, she had to eliminate them without using her telekinesis, relying solely on pure combat skills. After clearing the floor, the second run would only yield half the rewards, the third run half again, until it eventually stopped giving rewards altogether.

The only good news was that the reward stats for the second floor had doubled—from 0.2 to 0.4 per point. Then third floor is 0.8. Nanzhi made sure to squeeze every last drop of benefit from her first run of every floor.

For some reason, she had an odd nagging feeling last night, urging her to enter the Weekly Dungeon.

Afterward, she had spent the rest of the night processing rice, flour, cornmeal, olive oil, and peanut oil inside her Game Lobby until dawn. She wouldn’t have time to do it during the mission.

Before, her little foodies used to help with these tasks when they were traveling, but now?

Because their rented place wasn’t soundproof, she couldn’t bring out the machineries and generators without attracting suspicion.

Luckily, Snowball was there to lighten her burden. It loved exploring the Misty Land and taking care of the Safe Zone on her behalf.

Sigh…

She hoped she could unlock the Guild Function soon.

Ugh. So tired.

Another yawn escaped Nanzhi’s lips, her long lashes fluttering as she struggled to stay awake. She leaned against Lin Weihao’s shoulder, her eyelids drooping.

Lin Weihao raised a hand and gently cupped her cheek. “What time did you sleep last night?”

Nanzhi muttered drowsily, “Didn’t check, but probably around 4 a.m.”

Lin Weihao frowned, his voice soft yet scolding. “Are you being stubborn? Staying up so late is bad for your health. Don’t push yourself so hard next time.”

“Hm.” Nanzhi hummed softly.

From the driver’s seat, Feng Ran glanced at the rearview mirror, a teasing smirk playing at the corners of his lips.

“Tsk. You two were gone for so long last night. What exactly did you do to make Sister-in-law this exhausted? Could it be that you—”

A pillow smacked the back of his head before he could finish.

“Hey! I’m driving! Do you want a car accident?!”

Nanzhi lazily cracked one eye open. “Why is your mind always in the gutter? Is your brain fried?”

Feng Ran pouted and rubbed the back of his head. “I didn’t even say anything yet!”

According to those famous tabloids, Brother Lin’s body was like A5-grade wagyu beef—lean, toned, and impossibly well-proportioned.

He was honestly amazed at how much self-control Nanzhi had.

Nanzhi snorted softly and closed her eyes again.

Lin Weihao shot Feng Ran a warning look. “Enough teasing. Can’t you see she’s exhausted?”

Feng Ran curled his lips. “I know, I know. I’ll seal my lips now, Brother Lin.” Then, flashing a grin, he called out, “Have a sweeeeeeeet dream, Sister-in-law!” he deliberately dragged the word on purpose.

Nanzhi was too sleepy to argue. It was Lin Weihao who made Feng Ran quiet.

Nanzhi shifted and rested her head on Lin Weihao’s lap. “Wake me up if alien beasts show up.”

She mumbled.

Lin Weihao’s hand stilled for a second before he adjusted her position, ensuring she was comfortable. His fingers lightly brushed against her hair.

Feng Ran, watching the scene unfold, was amazed.

Wow.

Lin Weihao had always been allergic to women—to the point that he barely had contact with any.

Yet, when it came to Nanzhi, he displayed so many unknown sides of himself.

Well, at least he wasn’t as cold as an ice sculpture anymore!

Meanwhile, Lin Weihao studied the map.

On top of a deserted building, two cloaked figures stood silently.

These were the ones Hei Qian and Bingwen had seen last night before they vanished into thin air.

Now, they observed the convoy of vehicles passing by before their figures disappeared again.

At that moment, Nanzhi’s brows furrowed slightly in her sleep.

She sensed a strange feeling but was too tired to fight against the drowsiness.

Her consciousness drifted into her Mind Palace.

The blue-eyed man, seated inside the vehicle, suddenly looked up at the top of a hotel building on their right.

His sharp eyes narrowed.

With a detailed map, the journey had been smooth for the first half. They avoided unnecessary fights, though some lone alien beasts popped up occasionally.

Feng Ran, Bingwen, Hei Qian, and Yu Baoyin weren’t even bothered by Tier 0 and Tier 1 alien beasts anymore. These doesn’t whet their appetites anymore. They left them for the others to handle.

Zhao Lin’s team, the Iron Gale Squad, and the others were glaring daggers at the Thorn Team.

Because these shameless bastards had the audacity to steal their loot!

Just when they had worn down an alien beast to its last breath and were about to land the final strike…

The Thorn Team would swoop in like mushrooms after rain, landing the killing blow and snatching the spars for themselves!

“Woah! Another one!”

“Nice! Another spar in the bag!”

Dai Yun and Zhao Lin’s faces turned as black as the bottom of a pot.

If not for the fact that they were rushing to reach their destination before nightfall, they would have beaten them bald by now!

Even though Zhao Lin’s team and the Iron Gale Squad could still fight back, the weaker teams had no choice but to endure the unfairness.

This was just a temporary mission and they were afraid of offending and being targeted by Thorn Team after returning, especially there were rumors of them being backed by the Longmen Base Leader’s closest confidant.

The others did try to help but the weak teams didn’t have backbones.

Zhao Lin, Dai Yun, and Yu Baoyin sighed.

It was obvious that the Thorn Team had pulled these dirty tricks countless times before.

GRRRR! THESE THICK-FACED SCOUNDRELS!!!

Five Hours Later…

The convoy had covered half the distance.

The only inconvenience was that some roads were too narrow or blocked, forcing them to stop and clear the debris.

At this rate, they could reach the Crystal Water Facility in another five hours.

The convoy wove through the crumbling cityscape, maneuvering past collapsed buildings, shattered streetlights, and abandoned vehicles.

In one of the vehicles…

Lan Fuyou was lounging in the backseat, happily munching on snacks.

In the passenger seat, Lu Jian had a flattering smile, obediently offering more snacks from his storage space.

Lan Fuyou burped and tossed the snack wrapper onto Lu Jian’s lap.

“Ugh. How much longer till we get there?”

Lu Jian’s forehead veins throbbed, but he kept his mouth shut, rolling down the window to throw the trash out.

The driver answered, “Five miles to the Crystal Water Facility, Your Majesty.”

“FIVE MORE MILES?!”

Lan Fuyou groaned. “Argh! My butt is going numb! Who made this seat so hard?! I’m scolding him when we get back!”

The driver forced a smile.

Then why did you join the mission in the first place…?

Suddenly—

A deafening roar thundered through the streets.

“What was that?!”
