Chapter 223: Crystal Water Facility Mission (3)
Lan Fuyou jolted in his seat, his head slamming against the car roof with a dull thud. “Argh! Can’t you drive gentler?!” he shouted, rubbing the sore spot in frustration.

“Emperor! Behind us!” The driver’s voice trembled as he caught sight of something in the side mirrors.

Lu Jian and Lan Fuyou instinctively turned at the driver’s warning.

Through the back window and side mirrors, a terrifying sight unfolded—a horde of massive, mutated water buffaloes charged down the road behind them.

Each one stood at least three meters tall, their bodies grotesquely swollen with thick, jagged, bone-like armor. Spiked protrusions jutted from their backs like barricades, their once dull brown hides now blackened with eerie red veins. Their eyes burned with a menacing glow, as they galloped forward. Their thunderous hooves shattered the asphalt beneath them.

Any one of these beasts could crush their vehicles in an instant!

“Drive! Drive fast, damn it!” Lan Fuyou shouted, his face turning pale as he scrambled in his seat. The fat on his cheeks jiggled violently as he kicked the back of the driver’s seat in panic. “What are you waiting for?!”

“Shit! Ambush! Didn’t they say if we followed the map, everything would be fine?!” The leader of the Thorn Team cursed under his breath, gripping the seat tightly. Positioned near the back of the convoy, their team was now in the direct path of the stampede. If those beasts caught up, their vehicles would be flattened in an instant!

The same thought ran through everyone’s mind—Where the hell did these monsters come from?! There was no warning, no red zone on the map marking alien beasts in and near this area!

The Thorn Team’s leader narrowed his eyes at the Hummer ahead, his gaze flashing with calculation.

Suddenly, the Thorn Team’s worn-out white SUV lurched forward at full speed, cutting in front of Nanzhi’s vehicle without warning!

Before Feng Ran could react, the SUV forcefully wedged itself between their car and the main convoy, using Nanzhi’s team as a meat shield to take the brunt of the attack!

The Thorn Team’s leader smirked, his eyes flashing coldly. It’s just a pity for those metal babies… but his life is important!

“What the fuck?!” Feng Ran slammed the brakes to avoid a collision.

Yu Baoyin, who had been watching their convoy closely, saw the entire maneuver unfold. Originally, she had been transferred to this car due to her poor driving skills, and while she would have preferred to ride with Sister Nan, she now found herself a witness to the Thorn Team’s shamelessness!

Her nose flared with anger. How dare they do that to Sister Nan!

Zhao Lin’s team and the Iron Gale Squad also witnessed the blatant move. They glared at the white SUV.

Really Shameless!!!

Meanwhile, inside the car, Lin Weihao instinctively shielded Nanzhi, holding her securely against his chest as the vehicle jolted violently.

But no matter how careful he was, Nanzhi still woke up.

Still half-asleep, Nanzhi stirred. Her sleepy voice mumbled, “Mmm… what’s going on?”

Lin Weihao turned his head slightly.

Ahead of them, the stampeding buffaloes crashed into the abandoned vehicles, sending them flying through the air like discarded toys. The wrecked cars spun midair—hurtling straight toward them!

Feng Ran reacted in a flash, twisting the wheel at the last second. The car skidded to the side, narrowly dodging the incoming wreckage. While he wasn’t as skilled as Lin Weihao or Nanzhi in extreme driving, handling this much was still within his ability.

The Thorn Team, however, wasn’t so lucky. They had assumed they were safe—until the airborne cars rained down from above! Their own vehicles swerved erratically, barely avoiding a lamp post collision.

Seeing their predicament, Feng Ran couldn’t help but stick out his tongue. Serves you right!

Yu Baoyin, pressing her face against the window, seconded his thoughts. Hmph!

“Hahahahaha!” Those who had been offended by the Thorn Team also relish in this!

Dai Yun and Zhao Lin had the loudest laughs.

Meanwhile, Lin Weihao glanced down at Nanzhi and patted her head. “Go back to sleep. I’ll handle it.”

Nanzhi blinked groggily. She had already slept for five hours—how could she possibly miss free EXP knocking on her door?!

Even if it was just a small amount, mosquito meat was still meat!

“No way! Let me check it out!” Nanzhi immediately sat up.

Ding—

[Tier 3 Early Stage – Bonecrusher Buffalo]

[Attribute: Berserk, Pack Instinct]

[Tier 3 Middle Stage – Bonecrusher Buffalo]

[Attribute: Berserk, Earth]

There are about 40 of the Tier 3 early stage buffalos and in the middle was the leader

Her gaze locked onto the biggest buffalo in the center of the horde. That must be the leader…

Tier 3. I knew the Map wasn’t convincing!

Regardless, Nanzhi rubbed her hands together, her eyes shining with excitement. “Weihao, this one’s mine! I need to test my new skill!”

Besides, if she reached Level 25, she might be able to increase her dungeon entry chances again!

Lin Weihao sighed, utterly defeated by her enthusiasm. “Alright.” He could never say no to her.

The satellite phone on his lap vibrated, and Bingwen’s voice came through the speakers, sounding eerily calm despite the chaos. “Brother Lin, do you need backup?”

Lin Weihao glanced at Nanzhi, then replied indifferently, “No. Your sister-in-law says it’s hers.”

Yu Baoyin’s eyes sparkled with admiration and quickly looked at the back windows. As a no. 1 fan, how could she miss Sister Nan’s performance!

Meanwhile, inside another vehicle, Dai Yun stuck her head out the window and yelled, “Sister Zhao! Your friends are in danger!”

To her disbelief, Zhao Lin and her team remained completely unfazed.

“They’ll be fine,” Zhao Lin replied flatly.

“What? Are you crazy?!” Dai Yun was shocked. “Are they really your friends?!” Is this how friends are supposed to react?!

Even at a distance, the sheer gap in strength was obvious. There was no way a normal team could survive against that stampede!

High above, on the rooftop of a crumbling building, two black-cloaked figures observed the battlefield. Their faces remained hidden beneath their hoods, one could see smiles.

“Let’s see what this… Star Warden is capable of.”

At that moment, Nanzhi and the blue-eyed man attacked simultaneously.

From one side, a wave of dark green fireballs—each one oozing toxic fumes—rained down upon the horde. As the fireballs made impact, corrosive flames ignited, engulfing the mutated buffaloes. The scent of burning flesh and acrid smoke filled the air, making everyone gag instinctively.

In a single wave, nearly one-third of the horde was wiped out!

Nanzhi: “…” My EXP…

Everyone watching gulped. Such terrifying destruction…!

Among them, Lan Fuyou recognized the fireballs and his face twisted in anger. Why is he only making a move now?!

Up on the rooftop, one of the cloaked figures clapped. “Not bad.”

The other figure remained silent but let out a small hum of agreement.

Since their goal was only to gauge a certain someone’s strength, their mission here was complete. Just as they turned to leave, however—

Something unexpected happened.

“Huh?”

The remaining buffaloes suddenly stopped chasing. Instead, they began stomping wildly, smashing into buildings, even stomping at each other!

In the eyes of the cloaked figures, a blob of red energy wrapped around the remaining beasts’ heads.

Their eyes narrowed.

Meanwhile…
