Chapter 26: Dungeon Open
In the meantime, the boxes of stuffs that were unloaded from three moving trucks were carried by movers to the 21st floor and to Unit 2104.
Nanzhi’s renovated unit was soundproof but the other units on the same floor weren’t.
A small head poked out of Unit 2101.
“Mom, there are uncles going to the room, next to the haunted house. Should I tell them that there are ghosts nearby?”
The boy’s mother looked over and saw that was the case. It seems there was a new tenant.
The past tenant of the unit 2104 was widow and recently moved out of her unit and returned to her hometown to help her daughter raised children just last month.
In terms of the ghosts her son said, although she didn’t see it before, the owner of the unit 2103, Mr. Min had vacated his home also a year ago.
During the time of his stay, she would often hear his screams in the middle of the night. There was even one time that he saw him running out of the room with only pants on and yelling loudly in the hallway, ‘There is a ghost!’.
It woke up all the people in the 21st floor.
Morning the next day, rumors spread of the haunted unit and residents avoided it at all costs, making her half-believe that there may be really a ghosts.
Therefore, she was very surprised to see someone had rented it just after year.
Who could possibly so brave?
Unfortunately, she hadn’t seen the tenant of the 2103 yet.
Simultaneously, the noises of the movers annoyed Xiao Lizi who was streaming online; she opened the door and came to know about a new tenant, occupying 2104.
Glaring at the culprit through the gap of the door, she returned to her mini studio.
…..
Nanzhi switched to other channels and turned on the radio.
Unfortunately, they all delivered the same news.
A satellite image of the tropical depression was displayed on the television screen, along with its trajectory path.
From Nanzhi’s perspective, with the eye at the center, it looks like a horrifying beast staring at her.
Outside, the sky gradually darkened, and when the clock struck at 6:30 in the evening, the first raindrop fell.
Nanzhi heard a series of sounds.

The Empire Residential Building was in a semi-affluent suburb, and the facilities in here are nicely developed. It is mostly surrounded by other residential buildings, family homes, and small to large-scale businesses, schools, and parks.
It was night, and the light rain fell just as the weather forecast center had reported, blanketing Pearl City.
Because it was still early in the evening, the streets and roads were still filled with people.
Some had umbrellas or raincoats on, but others without either running or found a place to stop by and rest, mostly inside the cafes and small shops.
While waiting for the rain to stop, they chatted idly about their upcoming exams, the latest trends, entertainment stars, sports news, newest shops, and so on.
The smiles plastered on their lips and their boisterous laughs filled the place with vitality.
Nanzhi was sitting on the bench in the small park just outside her residential building, watching the starless sky and the people passing by.
“Argh. I can’t wait for the holiday break to come so I can book a trip to the tropical beach in H Country.” A young female student dressed in a high school uniform ran heading to the building, accompanied by her other friends.
“Mom! Mom! Hurry up! My favorite show is airing soon!”
“Dan Dan, slow down. The road is slippery because of the rain. You might get hurt if you ran too fast.”
A mother carrying grocery bags and an umbrella was trying to catch up with her son.
The small square park had small trees and green plants around the square surrounding the flower beds.
Even though the bench had a roof on top shielding her from the light drizzle, her ankles still got wet from the raindrops splashing on the bricked ground.
Nanzhi didn’t mind them as the sounds of the raindrops falling on the metal roof entered her ears like drums playing a loud, solemn tune, occupying most of her thoughts.
She was there for almost an hour.
Pitter…patter….Pitter…patter….
Little by little, the situation sank in, sobering her up.
It’s not that she wasn’t upset by the changes.
She already prepared herself for it from the very beginning and as long as it benefits her, she was alright.
That’s why she didn’t react strongly to the billboard incident and the discounted offers for the past few days but this kind of change was entirely out of her mind’s constraint and what concerns her most was—the cause of this change.
As she recalled all the news about the deadly Super Typhoon in her past life that almost razed countries, Nanzhi’s mood turned somber.
She let out a heavy sigh and rose from her seat. It’s no use to dwell on it deeply.
The drizzle fell onto her head. Nanzhi lowered the hood of her rain coat.
However, after just taking a single step, a tall shadow cast over her form. Then a hand, holding an umbrella stretched over her shoulder.
Lifting her head, Nanzhi saw the chiseled face sculpt to perfection and that playful spot like an ink wash painting that would unconsciously draw her stare.
The familiar deep, icy voice resounded in her ears.
“I didn’t know that Miss Lin like the rain.”
Lin Weihao parted his lips, gazing down at the woman.
Nanzhi quickly called out, a bit surprised by his sudden appearance. “Mr. Lin, how come you’re here?”
“For a visit.” He uttered the three words before his gaze fell on the raindrops on her shoulders.
His eyebrow furrowed and his hands unconsciously tilted the umbrella forward.
