Chapter 41: Awakening Power
Nanzhi was very excited. She sat on the floor, empty her mind and began to concentrate her will and pictured out images in her head.
She tried summoning earth, fire, water, electricity, wood, wind, or manipulate water and metal, and turning water in the glass into ice but nothing seems to work.
Did she fail?
Nanzhi’s enthusiasm lessened and just as her mood hit rock bottom, she noticed the glass started to move.
It only shook a little. There was no tremor and the floor is even therefore there was no reason for it to move that way.
Intrigued, Nanzhi concentrated on it and the glass moved again. This time it was levitating two inches from the floor.
Retracting her concentration, the glass dropped sideways on the floor, letting the water spill on the carpet.
“What kind of power is this?”
[It’s Telekinesis.]
Nanzhi used her phone and input the keyword on an offline app. Reading the definition, she was able to understand it more.
Telekinesis.
(A/N: I don’t know if it’s true but I’ve read in the internet that it’s really possible for us to have telekinetic power?)
It was the first time she heard that kind of power but maybe she only survived less than two years. Someone must have possessed this talent too.
Nanzhi stared at the glass and decided to explore this so called telekinetic power more.
Using her mental power wasn’t without a repercussion.
She felt tired and there was throbbing pain in her brain but it didn’t dampened the smile on her face because it only signify that she really possessed powers now and no longer non-awakener like before.
A glossy apple appeared in her hand. After she finished it, she felt a lot better.
According to her experiment, currently the upper limit of weight she can move was around 5 kg, trying to increase the weight made her brain hurt.
Additionally, right now she can only control one object at a time, adding another would make drain her mental energy faster.
The maximum range of her power is within five meters.
She also tried to move the small dagger and tried to launch it through the fastest speed she could muster but was only half successful. The dagger only left a scratch on the wall.
However Nanzhi wasn’t entirely disappointed. Her power was still in the initial stage.
For her, there’s no useless power, one only need practice and perseverance.
Nanzhi spent the whole day practicing and improving her control. When she get tired, the virtual farm yield helped her recover her energy.
….
Meanwhile outside, Typhoon Yagi finally reached Pearl City carrying the wind shears with maximum speed of 350 km/hr.
From the space, one can only see the large swirling mass of dark clouds hovering above the S Country.
The air defense alarm suddenly sounded, like the last cry of the city.
It tore those flimsy houses, structures, trees, power grids like some kind of paper, sweeping almost everything on its path, leaving the remnants of devastation on its wake.
The people living near the coastal areas witnessed how the huts and low-rise buildings washed away by the storm surge that reached fifteen meters.

Death tolls keep rising and one could see countless of bloated corpse on the water.
People hiding inside the building covered their ears from the loud howling noises of the wind that sounded like a beast.
The residents in the Empire building huddled in their bedrooms as the windows in their balcony shattered. The entire living room was wet and furniture and appliances were sent flying.
Auntie Yang together with her husband and child were in the Master’s bedroom, sitting on the bed.
Whenever there was a loud noise, Dan Dan flinched and hid under the covers of the blanket. One could hear the sobs coming from him.
“It’s okay. It’s okay.” Auntie Yang comforted her son.
In 2105, Xiao Lizi was also in her bedroom as the same thing happened to her windows. However, her mood turned sour as she glanced at Zhou Gui’s three friends gobbling the noodles and steamed dumplings.
Yesterday, they suddenly appeared in front of her door. Zhou Gui told her to let them in.
Even though she didn’t want, she couldn’t defy Zhou Gui leading to the current situation.
Outside, the continuous rain fall and strong winds pushed the water to reach the second floor in just half a day.
The first floor tenants who evacuated to the second had to flee to the third floor again.
The third floor residents were bombarded by the relentless sounds of knocking.
“Uncle, can you take us in? Until just the storm passed. We promised to pay you afterwards.”
“Miss, can you take pity on us and let us stay for the night? Our stuff is wet by the flood and we can’t sleep on the hallway.”
There were also residents trying to borrow things, clothes and food.
Residents here knew each other and it was still in the early stage therefore there are still people who shared.
Some even take advantage and started selling packet of noodles or biscuit and a bottle of water for a ridiculous high price.
Those who didn’t hoard enough could only grit their teeth and buy them.
That person selling laughed at making a small fortune, thinking he was very smart.
The super typhoon stayed in Pearl City for three days and the water level rose to the fifth floor but although it exited the city, the heavy rain didn’t weaken.
The government said that the storm would only last four days? But there’s no sign of it stopping at all!
The citizens only hoarded a limited amount of food and water. Without the stores and supermarkets, where would they get those things?
On the fourteenth day, the water level rose to the seventh floor.
Through their balconies, one can see the Pearl City had turned into a small ocean and an unbearable smell permeated in the air.
At this time, realizing the severity of the situation, the residents were no longer kind and others who can’t bear hunger started to move.
The peace of the Empire Building finally ended.
Nanzhi looked at the dagger that was deeply embedded on the target dummy made of wood and curled her lips.
“Not bad.”
She can sense her ability was on the middle of reaching Tier 1.
