Chapter 43: Rat-bite Fever
Auntie Yang quickly took out the things from inside from a small plastic bag.

Nanzhi remembered that the hidden mission was not yet complete.

She spoke after thinking, “Your son may not have a cold. If his palms and feet had red rashes, then it’s likely rat bite fever. Did he eat anything that had holes in their package or does he have any bite marks in his body?”

If there was no rashes, it would be food poisoning but if there is, then it was likely the case of rat-bite fever.

Rat-bite fever is deadly if not treated soon. It’s usually incurred if one came into contact with the infected rat’s saliva, feces or droplets.

Nanzhi knew this since a couple of residents from her past died because of it.

Auntie Yang remembered the milk candies and nodded, “He did eat a candy with its wrappers full of holes.” She then became extremely anxious. Is it serious? Is there a cure?”

This son of hers actually hid his favorite pack of candies under his pillow and didn’t tell her. It was only after he started running on a fever that the boy confessed about the candies, thinking that he was a bad kid and the heavens had punished him for not sharing.

Just then, Nanzhi saw a man came behind Dan Dan’s mother. “Honey, I already asked the other tenants from the other floors but they said they didn’t have medicine.”

The light in her eyes changed. She didn’t expect to meet him here.

She couldn’t mistake that face, especially that brown birth mark shaped like a map on the middle-aged man’s forehead.

When she was fleeing from a group of cannibals, she met him and his team of awakeners. He lend her a hand and gave her a pack of biscuits and half a bottle of water afterwards.

Nanzhi was out on a mission to pick up plants at that time.

His teammate said that he had a wife and son but because of a disease his son died and his wife got depressed after her son’s death and perished as well.

Suddenly, they heard Nanzhi spoke.

The couple became very happy.

Nanzhi opened the door again and handed small pouch to them, containing the exact 7 penicillin pills and 7 small set of intravenous penicillin inside.

“I don’t know how to thank you enough. Please take these supplies. I know their nothing compared to the medicines.”

They almost knelt in front of her door but Nanzhi stopped them and only said, “It’s okay. I only have these. However, don’t tell anyone this.” It was to repay a favor but if they told others about it, then she won’t be kind.

Auntie Yang and her husband quickly nodded, “Rest assured, we won’t tell anyone. But we will certainly repay this favor in the future.”

Nanzhi’s eyes shifted on Auntie Yang’s husband and said in her head: You already paid it.

The two had immediately returned to their unit and treated their son. Auntie Yang’s husband had a doctor friend, thus he knew how to insert the IV on Dan Dan’s vein.

After a few hours, Dan Dan’s situation became better and he was no longer pale and vomiting.

Inside 2103, Nanzhi heard the familiar sound.

The one who asked was a man from Unit 405. Seeing she was a girl, he wanted to build a relationship with her and possibly squeezed in her unit.

To top it off, Nanzhi’s facial features had become more refined and her skin whiter, making her a little attractive.

The man lifted the corner of his lips but before he can introduce himself, someone squeezed in between.

Nanzhi was startled and looked up.
