Chapter 55: Alien Beasts
In the Empire Building, residents that had yet to leave the building including Auntie Yang’s family heard the sound of the helicopter on the rooftop.
A ladder was thrown down and silhouettes of human climbed down the ladder, landing on the roof.
…
[Tier One Coyote]
[Attribute: Speed]
One could see flesh was hanging in between their spiky teeth, saliva dripping from the corners of their mouths, their faces and limbs were full of purple veins protruding and their eyes were bloodthirsty red.
The sight brought chills on anyone’s spines.
These tier one coyotes were madly sprinting, surpassing the speed of a cheetah and twice of the fastest human athlete.
This was enough to indicate that coyotes were alien beasts. An ordinary coyote couldn’t run that fast!
If her motorcycle was not modified, these coyotes will probably overtake her in a few minutes.
So that’s why there was no one nearby! They must have fallen under these alien beasts!
The biggest question is: Why are they appearing so early?! They were supposed to come in another five months!
In regards to her question, the system was quiet.
She has a flurry of questions in her mind right now but Nanzhi knew better not to be distracted in this situation.
As she was driving a road full of obstacles, she couldn’t split her focus on controlling daggers.
A gun with its muzzle attached with a silencer appeared in her hand.
She wanted to use grenades but the coyotes were not tightly packed and she couldn’t ascertain if there are only coyotes in the area.
What if there are other alien beasts too?
The sound of the grenades is louder and it will attract the unnecessary attention.
She fired several shots but due to their agility, only a few bullets hit. She tried another tactic.
Through the side mirrors, Nanzhi controlled the debris behind her and moved them.
Two of the dozen coyotes didn’t manage to dodge and stumbled, slamming onto the debris.
Nanzhi used the opportunity to fire another round of gunshot.
The two coyotes cried after getting hit by the flying bullets in their arms and legs.
Nanzhi was a bit dissatisfied as it didn’t kill the coyotes.
She continued to use the same tactic, managing to injure five more but these coyotes became smarter. At the moment they noticed the debris moved they leaped before she can even set the proper blockade.
Damn.
Coyotes are social animals but they only hunt alone or in loose packs. If these coyotes were together they were probably a family or ‘pack’.
Perhaps angered by her injuring the coyotes, the remaining coyotes became more aggressive. They made loud snarling and growling noises.
There were no signs of them stopping or getting tired.

Prey! Prey! Must kill and eat prey!
They chanted in their minds.
Nanzhi calmed herself down and thought of something else.
She suddenly thought of an idea.
Two minutes later, dozens of barrels of 5L motor oil were thrown mid-air. Their contents spilled on the road turning it into a mini pool.
Nanzhi used the motor oils she looted from the gas station with reluctance. When she comes back, she’ll find a way to deal with those remaining coyotes using a different method.
They are experience points resources.
The coyotes made sounds resembling laughter as if they were jeering for her failing to even hit them.
But as they stepped on the trail of ambered colored motor oil, they slipped; rolled numerous times, letting their furs get soaked completely by it.
They tried to get up and moved but they only slipped again. Their speed become useless at this moment.
The scent of the motor oil sticking on their faces and bodies were unbearable making their sense of smell inoperative at the moment and they were unable to sense or see Nanzhi getting closer.
The coyotes only heard the sound of click before there was a big fire in the road.
The coyotes cried and howled wanting to escape but Nanzhi took care of them.
Now that their speed was affected, Nanzhi was able to hit the alien beasts more accurately.
Shot after shots were fired.
The scent of burning meat wafted in the air.
[You’ve gained 30 EXP!]
[You’ve gained 30 EXP!]
The same notification rang in her ears for seven more times.
When she was absolutely sure that the coyotes were all dead, she approached their burned carcasses and started digging in their glabellas.
One by one she found, a small white crystal, the size of her fingertip.
The discovery only further solidified that she was not hallucinating.
The animals had already started mutating to alien beast!
Nanzhi’s mind was bothered by this but when she saw the 15-minute increase in Game Lobby time, her dissatisfaction lessened.
15 minutes?! That much?
Cough.
Anyway, there’s no use mulling and complaining about the problem.
The main concern was how will the survivors cope with this?
And is Lin Weihao even aware?
Her eyes stared at the watch on her left wrist and hoped for their safety.
Despite the danger posed by the alien beasts, she didn’t give up.
It’s better to get accustomed to them early than dealing with them too late.
After encountering the coyotes, Nanzhi was more extra vigilant on the road. The road going to the airport was the same one where she rescued Lin Weihao and Lin Yicheng. A hint of nostalgia flashed in her eyes briefly.
Now it was unrecognizable with lots of trees and aircrafts scraps piled up. She even saw an outline of airplane among the debris.
For it to be wash away from the runway just signifies how strong the flood current was.
Nanzhi also saw survivors trying to go pass. She didn’t drive ahead and turned to a fork road, leading to the resort.
The fork road was also full of broken logs. Nanzhi stored the motorcycle back in her inventory.
She didn’t use her space to clear the road or powers as she didn’t know if someone was looking.
After roughly spending another three hours Nanzhi finally saw the entrance of the lake resort. Only the pillars of the arch was left standing.
Because the sun was going down, Nanzhi had to find a place to rest for the night.
