Chapter 57: Arriving
The people that landed in the roof were wearing military camouflage clothes and armed with firearms.

They rammed the rooftop door, ensured that the coast was clear before entering.

When the survivors saw the military, their eyes sparkled as if they saw a lifesaving straw.

The military were blocked at the 25th floor by the crowd of survivors and each one was tugging their clothes.

“Sir! Good thing you’re here! We already packed up our things.”

“Officer, do you have food and water? Can you help us a bit?”

“Officer, if you let me inside the helicopter, I will pay you a million yuan for it.”

“Thank goodness! Sir, did the government send you here?”

The military couldn’t go forward because of the crowd pushing and pulling them. The crowds’ actions were dangerous as their fingers were on the triggers, ready for combat.

There was military team who was sent out of the mission this morning and came back injured because they lowered their guards against the civilians.

One of the officers aimed his riffle at the ceiling and pulled the trigger.

Bang…Bang…Bang

At the sounds of bullets being shot, the crowd were immediately frightened and scattered away like headless flies.

This led to one of the men sneaking out and climbing down 21st floor.

“Why are you firing your guns?! Aren’t you officers?”

“Aren’t you supposed to save and protect us?”

The leading officer looked at the crowd and asked, “The woman in Unit 2103, where is she?”

Unit 2103?

Isn’t that the one at odds with Qi Meiying? Why is the military after her?

None of the people could answer besides Auntie Yang and her husband but the two didn’t give a definite answer immediately but asked instead, “Officer, why are you looking for the tenant in Unit 2103?”

“The information is confidential.”

Auntie Yang felt that the officers didn’t seem to have bad intentions. She said, “She left this morning.”

The officer who left returned after scouting. He shook his head.

The team leader went down to confirm but because Nanzhi’s door was blast and anti-theft they had to take the balcony, only to realize it was bulletproof and blast proof too.

They wanted to blast it with a C4 but they remembered their Boss.

What if the woman is inside and got hurt because of the blast, will the Boss skin them alive?

They used a peaceful approach and knocked on the door, even introduced themselves and told their purposes but the other side remained silent.

No matter how much they called, it was the same result.

Therefore the C4 was used.

The survivors in the Empire Building sadly and angrily watched as the helicopter fly away.

Inside, the team leader was talking to a satellite phone, “The mission is a failure. The target is not in the unit. Do you want us to circle around the suburban area?”

The other side didn’t respond until three seconds later. “No, that’s alright.”

In the highway to the airport, four off-road motorcycles could be seen.

It was Lin Weihao, Feng Ran, and two other men.

Once they passed by the high-rise buildings, they noticed the trails of blood.

Lin Weihao stopped and followed the trail only to find bones and black long tendrils soaked in blood piled in small hill.

“It seems to be bones and hairs from a human.”

Feng Ran heard it and couldn’t help but cover his mouth and made retching sounds.

Once he was a bit better, he asked with a pale face, “Why would human remains be here? Are they washed away from the cemetery?”

The officer shook his head, “The flesh seemed to be recently scraped from the bones and there are sharp teeth marks on it. This was probably the deeds of animals.”

Feng Ran’s face became paler. Are you serious? The information was hard to take in.

Lin Weihao observed the building and he noticed the torn clothes with patches of blood and scattered belongings like IDs, crushed biscuits and packets of noodles, and bottles still half filled with water.

Besides them were paw prints.

Feng Ran had goose bumps.

Because his back was against the entrance, he failed to notice the injured coyote pouncing on him.

Feng Ran only noticed it when its mouth was about to bit his neck.

Bang.

The injured coyote was shot in the center of the forehead and fell onto ground lifeless.

Feng Ran could feel his heart beating loudly in his ears. That was a close call!

He immediately run to Lin Weihao’s side and said in gratitude, “Brother Lin, I love you! Thank you so much!”

Lin Weihao shoved away Feng Ran’s face who was attempting to kiss him on the cheek.

The two officers saw more injured coyotes on the entrance and quickly pulled out their guns to bring them down.

To their surprise, these coyotes were very fast even though they were injured.

“Are these really coyotes? They moved so fast!” Feng Ran exclaimed before taking out his gun too.

Lin Weihao’s pupils dilated when he observed the coyotes’ odd agility.

It took them awhile to take the coyotes down.

When they were all dead, Lin Weihao approached the coyotes’ corpses.

He took out an army thorn from his waist and started dismantling the body.

The process was gory with blood spurting everywhere.

Feng Ran was shocked, “Brother Lin, what are you doing? Are you planning to take it back as meat?! I didn’t you have such weird tastes!”

Lin Weihao merely shot Feng Ran a glare before resuming his actions.

After ten minutes, he found what he was looking for. It was in the coyotes’ glabellas.

“Holy Moly! How is it possible for coyotes to have gems inside them?”

Lin Weihao’s expression became heavy.

He stood up and said, “We better get out of here.”

Feng Ran agreed without hesitation.

Their group continued on the highway until they spotted a part of the road was scorched.

Lin Weihao and the others saw the scorched corpses.

“The bone structures and teeth arrangement is similar to the coyotes we’ve met before. I wonder who would do these?”

Lin Weihao also wondered. He looked around and found drops of motor oil on the side of road and the empty barrels.

Someone must dealt with them which explains the bullet holes on the injured coyotes.

Lin Weihao tried to search for the same gems but his brows furrowed when they were missing.

He narrowed his eyes.

Because the sun will be setting soon, they couldn’t stay on the road, especially after what he discovered.

Lin Weihao knew there was a resort nearby. Their team headed there and when they reached the fork road, the satellite phone in his breast pocket vibrated.

Lin Weihao answered it and midway, he noticed a familiar figure walking on the dirt road to the Lake Resort.
