Chapter 63: Confession (2)
“It’s indeed unbelievable. I also thought it was a dream at first but everything was so vivid. It started with the solar storm that caused heat wave and drought, then the world ushered into almost a month-long of heavy rain and flood. Afterwards, a massive snowstorm swept the entire world. Many lose lives.”
“I thought the situation wouldn’t get worse but the animals and plants started mutating and targeted us instead. At that time, I was completely hopeless.”
Nanzhi’s heart skipped a beat. It was the same in her past life in the same exact arrangement of events too!
Is he really the other player? Nanzhi cautiously asked, “What happened to you, Mr. Lin in the dream?”
Lin Weihao lowered his eyes before continuing and in a somber tone, “I was alone. All those close to me died.”
Nanzhi remembered Lin Yicheng, Feng Ran, Bingwen, and Hei Qian.
Before she died, Lin Weihao’s friends were still alive.
She wasn’t sure about little dumpling’s case though but Nanzhi could guess a bit of what happened and it had something to do with the first mission she had.
She was glad that she accepted it.
As for Lin Weihao’s friends, she knows the feeling of losing loved ones, and so she sympathized with him.
She was curious as to what happened to him and the others after she died.
Lin Weihao continued his story. Nanzhi would have thought that she would have listened to something heart-wrenching.
“Though, I was not alone for too long. It was after the snowstorm. I was attacked by a pack of mutated wolves and sustained heavy injuries.”
“At that time thought I was going to die. That was alright for me though since I have no will to live anymore but when I woke up, I found myself lying on a soft and clean bed.”
“I was saved by a woman and she nursed me to health without even asking for anything in return.”
“She was kind, gentle and considerate. I felt the long gone warmth for the first time and eventually we developed a relationship with each other.”
“She doesn’t like to talk very much but she likes to write a lot, in her notebook.” Lin Weihao’s eyes squinted, smiling from the memory.
“Whenever she had free time, she always rubbed the fibers of a dead tree bark to make fishing lines even though there were no lakes or rivers nearby to catch fishes. When I asked her, she said it reminded her of her father who who was obsessed with fishing.”
“She was an excellent cook and her favorite food was beef stew with potatoes that her Mother used to cook for her.”
“Unfortunately, I could grant her wish to let her taste it again.”
“I remembered everything about her clearly as if I was just with her yesterday and even her name remained engraved in my mind.”
Nanzhi couldn’t hide her astonishment. What does she feel he was referring to her?
Lin Weihao’s eyes slowly lifted and deeply locked with hers in the gentlest gaze he could ever muster when he said the words that stirred her soul, “Her name was Lu Nanzhi.”
As if struck with thunder, Nanzhi froze like rock.
She swallowed the lump on her throat and tried to calm her mind that was in a mess from Lin Weihao’s ridiculous confession.
That would explain the strange feeling she felt at that time when she thought he knew something about her.
But she can’t remember all the things Lin Weihao said because they didn’t met before regression at all but how come he knows about her little habits including the fishing line or her favorite food.
Her dad had taken her fishing one time and when he have forgotten about his rod, he taught her how to make one from scratch using the plant thorn and fibers of a dead bark they found.
She was able to catch a small fish with it which she soon released after she saw it’s family swimming around in circles.
“You’ve said to me before that I was too hasty in asking marriage because one of the reasons is that we never even knew about each other well. At that time, I was holding myself from saying these things.”

“Then if you already know about my real name, why didn’t you tell me in the first place?”
“I wanted to let the things flow naturally. I won’t force you. If you will like me, that would be great. But if you don’t, I’ll accept it too.” Lin Weihao said. Though, calling her Miss Lin was kind of pleasant to hear because it sounds like ‘Mrs. Lin’.
Nanzhi asked the system.
But the system only replied, [The system doesn’t know about it.]
‘Are you implying that he is not the player?’
[Yes.]
What?
Then, why did he regress too?
[The system had no answer for the moment.]
As a mature adult, Nanzhi set aside her confusion and asked Lin Weihao as she was curious about something.
“About Lin Yicheng…”
“Thanks to Miss Lu, that he is alive. He would have died back then.”
Nanzhi was both relieved and sad at the same time.
Feng Ran’s group was the first one to reach the bank.
His Brother Lin’s small boat came after and he noticed the strange atmosphere surrounding the two.
“Did something happen?”
…..
When the flood hit the ranch and orchard, it swept the trees along the way, with only a few dead trunks remaining, sticking out. It was easier to row ahead.
They only needed to be mindful of the debris.
To get to the tourist hotel, they needed to row ahead for at least half an hour.
Nanzhi’s mind was occupied with the thought of the identity of the other player and his/her location.
Her first guess that maybe the other player is in that tourist hotel.
Once their group got near the entrance of the hotel, the boats suddenly shook.
Nanzhi and Lin Weihao quickly balanced themselves.
In the midst, Nanzhi caught a glimpse of a black shadow moving in the water.
