Chapter 77: Preparing for a Big Catch
Earlier, because there was the threat, Chu Muwen, Nanzhi wasn’t able to deal with the fishes but now without him, she can kill the alien beasts with ease.
The fight earlier with Chu Muwen had improved her control of her power more and let her discover its new usage.
True to his excellent marksmanship, Chu Muwen was very skilled.
The safety bullet proof vest didn’t keep her entirely safe and there were still bullets almost hitting her.
She doesn’t want to rely on the Game Lobby all the time.
Although, she didn’t stop the bullets completely, she have somehow change their trajectories by a little margin.
Only when she felt an imminent danger like the grenade, did she hide in the game lobby.
Despite mentally exhausted because of the amount of mental power she had to use, her power upgraded to the late stage, just a step away from Tier 1.
[Player Name: Lu Nanzhi]
[Status: Late Stage Tier 0 Telekinesis]
She heard from Baoyin before that when upgrading tiers, it was advisable to do in safe place. Once she returned, she’ll go into seclusion.
She wondered if her power will have qualitative leap and will there be new changes.
Now all that is left are fishes to catch for EXP!
She still had a fruit of mutated salacca left in her inventory.
Typically, bighead carps feed on planktons, algae, and their favorite baits are maize, fruit flavored boilies, bananas, and dough baits.
One interesting fact about alien beasts is that low-level alien beasts still retain a portion of their original innate behaviors.
Nanzhi planned to take advantage of this.
Lin Weihao, upon hearing her plans to trap the fishes in a metal cage and electrocute them, didn’t say anything and helped her in searching and gathering destroyed rails, metal rods, and baluster among the debris.
Lin Weihao couldn’t focus on the task at all because of the graze wounds on Nanzhi’s face and arms.
She always likes to do things alone. Lin Weihao’s brows furrowed.
Nanzhi only felt someone had grasped her right wrist.
“Zhi…” He nearly called her the nickname from his past life. He corrected himself.
“I mean Miss Lu, if you would have tried asking for my help in dealing with the sniper, I would have my best to help you.” Lin Weihao wasn’t the type of person to cut off his beloved woman’s wings. In this new world, being independent is good, he just wanted her to know that she can share her problems and burdens with him and that he got her back.
Startled, Nanzhi explained.
“It’s just bullet graze wounds. I already applied some ointment and bandaged them.” Nanzhi could feel his hand stroking her arms, particularly at the areas where the wounds were, slightly tickling her.
Lin Weihao’s expression heavy laden of worry made Nanzhi say, “Mr. Lin, later when I finish killing the alien beasts, I’d like to talk to you about the things you said to me last night.” Then, Nanzhi gazed on the pair of callous hands, before continuing, “I also have things to say.”
The man had sharp senses and it was no problem for him to decipher what Nanzhi’s intentions were.
On Lin Weihao’s lips was he warmest smile he mustered from his two lifetimes. “Alright.”
“Brother Lin, I heard that you wanted to make a cage!”
Their conversation came to a halt when Hei Qian entered the room. Since he was good with assembling guns, animal traps, machines, and fixing cars, he volunteered to help them too.

After three hours, three big makeshift cage the size of half of a small house were made.
Nanzhi had observed the size of the bighead carp before and she was certain this was enough.
She made at least 4 baits by adding raw meat in mix to which she wrapped inside a wet blanket before tying it tightly to cage’s rails.
Nanzhi was about to make up an improvised electric shock weapon using a generator, wires and harpoon but Lin Weihao just said she didn’t need to at all.
When she asked why, Lin Weihao raised his arms and purple streak of lightning pulsed around it.
Nanzhi remembered a particular memory, “That night, are you responsible for the lightning?!”
Like a husband getting caught for breaking his wife’s favorite vase, Lin Weihao scratched his head and admitted his guilt.
Nanzhi: “…” She almost thought it was a double dungeon of thunderstorm and heavy rain and flood!
But Nanzhi didn’t have the right to be angry at all. Everyone had secrets.
Since Lin Weihao has revealed his, Nanzhi also had no qualms about revealing hers.
But contrary to her expectation, Lin Weihao wasn’t surprised, and rather he already knew about it.
“The matter about mental power is not yet publicized. It’s alright if I’m the only one around but unless it’s really necessary; don’t show it to anyone yet including Feng Ran and the others. Better hide it for now.” Lin Weihao patted the back of her hand, as if he wanted her to remember his words. Though even if something goes wrong, he will make sure not a hair of hers will be harmed.
Nanzhi knew why Lin Weihao had warned her. The very first awakeners had awakened their mental power only after the snowstorm.
People fear the unknown.
Those who exposed their powers were arrested by the government and were subjected to experiments.
It was only after the capital issued news with the support of Pearl City’s base leader, Lin Weihao about the importance of mental power in eliminating the alien beasts did the experiments stopped.
However, this made her more curious about his past or what he refers to as the past they shared.
Setting that aside, with Lin Weihao’s help, killing the alien beasts would be easier.
Feng Ran, Hei Qian, and Bingwen were busy with helping the survivors. They had satellite phones which they had lend to the survivors.
Nanzhi also lend some of hers.
Yu Baoyin and the elderly couple were amongst the recipients.
They quickly called their families and loved ones.
