Chapter 93: Upgrading to Tier 1
They said that the illusory world is a product of the awakener’s perception or how their manifest their mental power and how its progress.
Nanzhi sat on the floor. She wasn’t certain about hers. Nanzhi only wanted to advance successfully.
Lin Weihao bent his knees and sat cross-legged in front of her and started guiding her.
“Don’t be disappointed if you can’t sense it in the next hour, it is an arduous process but once you sensed it, it will be much easier.”
In the past, he managed to accomplish it less than fifteen minutes. Other awakeners undergo the process for an average of hours to several hours and some even would take a day.
Nanzhi did as she’s told.
She closed her eyes. Now with her eyes closed, her other senses amplified.
Mind Palace.
What a vague concept. It was like finding a needle in a haystack.
In Nanzhi’s subconscious mind, all she can was vast darkness.
Not a trace of the so-called mind palace.
Nanzhi didn’t give up and walked through the dark.
Finally, in her line of vision, she spotted a granule of red light smaller than her pinky nail, giving off that strange familiarity.
Besides it, there wasn’t anything else.
She raised her hand and at her attempt to touch it but her hand only passed through.
Nanzhi stopped and looked at the granule of light deeply.
She wasn’t sure if this was the Mind Palace, Lin Weihao was referring to.
Swish–
Suddenly, that granule of light moved.
Nanzhi thought it was only her illusion at first but the granule of light flickered and slowly glided at her and then circled around her body, dancing around like a little firefly, and trying to capture her attention.
She was startled but still managed to squeeze a question, “Are you my Mind Palace?”
The little red firefly flickered incessantly and its movements became rigorous and wild as if it was affirmatively answering her inquiry.
Nanzhi felt a bit amazed. She never heard of a Mind Palace interacting with awakeners.
A person’s mind is a mysterious place. Inside, she lost her perception of time.
Although she felt she was walking and talking to the Mind Palace for hours but only seconds passed in the physical world.
Realizing her original purpose, Nanzhi withdrew her attention from the red light and tripled her concentration on the spar and imagined her own mental power as a drill, trying to enter a beehive and suck all of its honey out.
When she thought of this, she felt that connection she was looking for.
It was a faint feeling at first, like a tiny trickle, but as seconds passed by that trickle turned to a small stream.
The spars in her had become cool and a second later, streams of refreshing and soothing energy burrows inside her.
In the vast darkness, there this blue strands appearing out of nowhere.

The red granule of light became excited and it absorbed all those strands.
Lin Weihao thought it would at least take five minutes for Nanzhi to sense it on her first try but he was wrong.
“I can feel it.” Nanzhi softly said. Her tone was laced with glee.
As if her veins were stroked with a gentle and cool breeze, she found it very comfortable unlike what Lin Weihao and Yu Baoyin had said.
It was like her whole body was soaking in spring water, she felt rejuvenated.
Lin Weihao was startled. It hasn’t even been a minute yet but she can already sense it. He transferred his gaze onto the spars.
Sensing that Nanzhi was absorbing way too fast, his hands wanted to squeeze hers but stopped in the end because it might distract her.
Thus, he could only remind her, “Take it slowly.”
Absorbing way too fast will be detrimental. It would only be advisable if one is a higher tier awakener.
Nanzhi listened to Lin Weihao’s words but before she can even follow it, the energy in the first spar has been emptied and it turned into a dull and grey rock.
The granule of light also seemed to be disappointed and it stopped making bouncy movements.
Nanzhi guessed that it was telling her it was not enough. She grasped the other spar tightly in her hand.
Once the red light saw the strands of mental energy, it became lively again.
Lin Weihao’s chest heaved high and low in a fast pace but he knows that Zhi Zhi is a very cautious person.
Even without his words, she would be the first one to stop at the slightest discomfort.
Still, it made his heart stuck on his throat.
When the last strand of energy entered her glabella, Nanzhi felt her body was lighter, and her mind was clearer than before, and she sensed other changes too.
That granule of light also became the size of ping pong ball.
[Congratulations for upgrading your mental power to Tier 1!]
[Hidden Mission: Power Upgraded is completed.]
[Hidden Mission Rewards: 1, 000 Experience Points.]
Nanzhi quickly opened her personal interface.
[Player Name: Lu Nanzhi]
[Level: 9 (65/ 4, 500)]
[Status: Tier 1 Telekinesis]
[Combat Power: 30]
A new tab appeared below the combat power.
[Mental Power: 99]
‘Is this what I think it is?’
[Yes, it is measurement of your mental power but compared to the one invented by the base, the system’s evaluation is more accurate.]
[In game terms, it’s like the mana bar of game characters.]
‘But isn’t the threshold for Tier 0 to Tier 1 is 19 to 99?’
100 and above is already Tier 2.
But Nanzhi had only touched the threshold and it would be understandable if the number is around 39 to 59 but for it to be at the limit of 99, she couldn’t help but be suspicious.
[Those measurements are not applicable to all.]
[Some of the awakeners possessed vaster Mind Palace than others. You are happened to be one of them but the main disadvantage is that you need double or triple the spars.]
