Chapter 63: CHAPTER 62 – Zahara Nemeanor 2.
Sob-Sob-Sob
Zahara barged out of the hall, not caring about the eyes on her. She kept running, going through the hallway and toward her cabin.
‘Just why do have to do it?!’
She kept asking that question in her mind, expecting Alex would answer her even though she knew that it wasn’t possible. She had run away from him—not even hearing his apology.
Alex really did feel sorry when Theron’s words made him realize what he had done.
His mind was just too occupied with the thought of what could’ve happened to Sophie. She was one of the two people Alex couldn’t even see a scratch on.
Only his mother and Sophie being in danger could make him lose his mind, and even though he knew that it was an obvious weakness, he didn’t care. He had already lost one brother in his past life, even though he didn’t have this so-called weakness.
So, he was a little… anxious when he couldn’t get a response from Sophie, especially when Sophie was the system—something he didn’t know much about.
If he could see or guess the situation or problem she was in, he could think about it, he could plan against it, but not like this.
Her being silent wasn’t good for him because she never does this. So, Alex just wanted to get away from everyone and sleep as soon as possible in order to get in touch with her—the only reason for him being irked by Zahara’s action, which would definitely delay everything.
But he regretted it soon enough because he knew…
‘You know that I love you! Yet!!’
Zahara clenched her fists, her tears flowing without restraints. Yes, he knew that she loved him.
But Zahara didn’t know what Alex was going through; she could understand that Alex wasn’t in a good mood; maybe he was having the worst day ever, but just like he tried to smile before, couldn’t he have simply told her that he wasn’t in the mood to banter with her?
Did he think that Zahara was a fool? Did he think that she didn’t know that he only did what he did to make her have a bad impression of himself?
Zahara knew it perfectly well. She knew that every time they had a chat, Alex would intentionally say something that would irritate her, but she wasn’t just a brainless idiot to go on talking to him even after all that.
She wouldn’t have survived as a princess if that were the case.
Zahara pretended to be stupid just so that she could continue to banter with Alex. Whatever it was, she loved to do it.
‘You would do the same thing every day. Every day! Yet I always came back to fight the next day!’
Her tears burst out as she thought of how stupid she must have looked in everyone’s eyes. But she still did it, pointing out things that were so minor that anyone would ignore.
But why? Why did Zahara do it?
Her steps slowed down as she thought about it, her body resting against the wall as she covered her face with her arms. ‘All because I knew this was the only way to get you to talk…’
Yes, that was exactly why.
‘Just why don’t you accept me…?’
She stared at the floor from between her fingers, looking at the tears pooling below.
Zahara had gone so low as changing her image from a free-spirited girl to a rude and grudgeful officer who wouldn’t let anything slide, even if it was the smallest of things.
Her subordinates, who are supposed to look up to her, respect her, and follow her footsteps, do nothing other than laugh at her back, ignore her, or make jokes about her.
All because of what? Because she saw Alex talking back to her, trying to twist her in her own words. Even if it was irritating, Alex was still talking to her.
‘You think you are smart? You think you can make me confused so easily?’
She huffed, gritting her teeth as she recalled those instances where he would smirk at her confused face—something she deliberately put up.

‘I made it look like that because I wanted you to feel like you won!’ She teared up again, clutching her skirt, not caring about it getting creased.
‘I thought that it was the only way I could get you to talk to me…’ Zahara’s thoughts turned silent again, recalling the time when Alex had started ignoring her.
She got that he was annoyed by her persistence, but what could she do? She just loved him that much!
Zahara’d proposed to him. In front of everyone at that! Yet he outright ignored her!
‘My love is infatuation…’
She recalled his words. Alex had explained to her later on—he’d told her that he couldn’t accept her because her love for him was based on his power and looks.
But that didn’t demotivate Zahara; she just thought that he was playing hard to get. In her race, only power and looks—mostly power—mattered anyway. But as she found him ignoring her, not even trying to keep in contact with her, the realization hit her.
Alex wasn’t a Simharian…
He didn’t think like she did. Humans cared about feeling. Real feelings. So she accepted her fault and said that she would love him with her heart. She didn’t know how to do it, but she would.
But Alex again shot her down. “That would be an illusionary love.”
Why did humans have to be so complicated?! That was all Zahara could wonder, but she still didn’t lose hope.
After a while, however, she got frustrated at being ignored and roared at Alex during the hall assembly of the student council. Zahara just wanted to yell at him, so she used the excuse of him talking with Lilia during the assembly to scream at him.
But she soon realized her fault. Zahara, as a rule keeper, had stepped out of her line. She shouldn’t have spoken like that. At that moment of peril, however, Alex came in to save her.
He scoffed at her, making fun of her, turning the situation from tense to merry, and Zahara just stood still. Not because she couldn’t retort, but because, in his eyes, instead of seeing disdain or mocking light, she saw pity.
She could tell that he was doing all that just to save her from trouble.
Would he do it for a person he didn’t care about? She didn’t think so.
That day, something within Zahara changed. From then on, she did the same thing every day; she did the same thing, not bothered in the least by the consequences of her actions.
Yet today’s response—those cold eyes—reminded her of his words again, making her think that the reason he was being like that was because of his thinking of her love being illusionary or infatuation.
‘It’s true. I know it is; in the start, it was like that.’
Thud
She fell to her knees, feeling the worst she had ever felt.
‘But… can infatuation or illusionary love never turn into true love…?’
She questioned no one in particular.
In a few days, Zahara was about to talk to Alex again, telling him that she couldn’t do it any longer. She couldn’t keep up this act—she just wanted to be with him.
But now this happened—something she never expected.
He did all that without a warning.
Sob
Her silent sobs couldn’t be heard by anyone other than the walls, just like she wanted, but she felt lonely—she felt more lonely than ever knowing that the only one person she cared about in that hall didn’t mind humiliating her like that in front of all those people.
It was only after a while that she got up from that place, and with slow steps, she moved toward her cabin.
She didn’t know what to do anymore…
Alex, on the other hand, oblivious to Zahara’s suffering, dismissed everyone from the room, leaving only the council members there.
His priority was till Sophie; only after he was done with Sophie’s issue would he think about Zahara, especially when he knew things that no one knew…
