Chapter 64: CHAPTER 63 – The Meeting Called Off.
Zahara Nemeanor, a genius from the Nemeanor kingdom, a cheery girl—someone easy to get along with—and one who is supposed to become the ruler of the Simharian Kingdom, is supposed to die a tragic death.
This was clearly told in the plot, and although Alex didn’t care about the plot nor did he want to follow through on it, he knew that getting involved with Zahara would mean carrying a brickload of trouble—not something he wanted right now.
That was why, even though he knew that Zahara was in the right and that he was not being fair to her by not even giving her a chance, he wasn’t sure if he should really change his attitude.
And he wasn’t wrong about her love being infatuated and illusionary. He just wasn’t aware of the fact that her love had turned into real feelings in the past two years. He wasn’t a mind reader after all.
Alex wasn’t even aware of how much his actions and words today had hurt Zahara—who was doing the act just for him.
“Is there something that needs my immediate attention going on everyone?”
With his mind still reeling about what could’ve happened to Sophie, Alex directly asked that question, looking at every pillar of the council one by one.
Zahara wasn’t yet important enough for him to ignore Sophie’s problem. Sophie loved him—she was his woman—and he loved her back.
As for Zahara?
‘Maybe this is for the better…’
That was what he thought about her. If Zahara would stop trying to pursue him as she did, or even hate him for today’s action, then at least she wouldn’t try to get close to him anymore.
‘Yeah… it’s for the better…’ Alex, clenching his fists, muttered those words repeatedly in his mind. He gritted his teeth in an attempt to ignore the complex stir in his heart. He had to focus on Sophie right now. She was his priority.
“Alex,” Theron, looking at the tick mark on Alex’s jaw, frowned, calling out to him. “You should take a break for today.”
Theron wasn’t a master when it came to understanding one’s emotions and feelings, but even to him, it was apparent that something was eating Alex up, and the guy just wanted to get out of there.
Alex kept shifting on his throne, clenching its armrest, and gritting his teeth after all.
Those words made everyone’s attention shift from Alex to Theron, gazing at him with confusion. They all had something to discuss. Something happened yesterday, but as Alex was hosting the election competition, they couldn’t talk to him about it.
So, why was Theron saying that there was nothing to talk about? But the next moment, as they saw his serious expression, all of them just nodded their heads.
It didn’t take them to be geniuses to know that Theron was doing this out of his concern for Alex’s situation, something they could feel as well, so none of them said anything.
“Are you sure, sir?” Alex, however, seemed puzzled. He heard from Lilia yesterday that Theron had asked him to be present in today’s meeting no matter what.
“But Lilia said that there was something you all had to discuss.” He turned to look at Lilia, who quickly hid her worried expression, and then he turned to look at others, only to see all of them wearing a calm expression.
“It is nothing major. It can be solved tomorrow.”
Theron’s words pulled Alex’s attention back to him, and although he felt that Theron wasn’t telling the truth, he just nodded his head.
“I will excuse myself, then.” He got up from the throne and, with a frown, left the hall.
He wasn’t sure what they wanted to talk about, and he knew that they were lying, but he just mentally thanked them, as this gave him a reason to leave that place and get to an empty place to sleep.
Now he could enter the dream world and check up on Sophie.
‘What happened to him? Is he in some kind of trouble?’ He didn’t know that his odd behavior today—his inability to control his emotions—had left almost all of the council members concerned.
“Use everything in your power to find out what’s bothering him. I will do the same.”
Theron ordered the moment he was sure that Alex had moved quite far away, getting up from his throne and moving toward his cabin in order to contact the people he could without delay. Alex had called him ‘sir’, something he had never done. Not once.
This made Theron realize that the situation might really be serious.
“Yes, sir!”

The others did the same and, with a salute, started to move toward their cabins. No matter what kind of connection they had, they all had a relationship with Alex, and above all, they were the student council—they were a family.
They were supposed to look out for each other.
As for Zahara, they were sure that Alex wasn’t going to leave her unattended. They knew that Alex wasn’t that type of person. So, they didn’t worry about the girl.
Lilia, in particular, was worried about what it could be that had made Alex lose his cool; after all, she had found Alex occupied in some thought when she first met him today.
‘Was he speaking the truth when he said that he couldn’t sleep at night? Is it something so concerning that Alex couldn’t even sleep?’
She wondered as she increased her pace, not wanting to delay any longer.
What they all didn’t know was that although it was something really important and needed attention from Alex, they would never be able to find out what it was.
After all, it was related to something no one could find.
Click
Alex, on the other hand, had already reached his cabin, and opening the door, he stepped in, closing it with another click.
‘Sophie? Are you there?’
He sat on his desk, trying to call out to Sophie again only to get silence in response, so he just put his head down on the desk and started using his sleep-inducing ability, falling asleep soon, finding himself pulled into the dream space, only to be stunned at the sight in front of him.
But what none of them knew was that the girl they were all not focusing on right now—Zahara Nemeanor—was facing a very peculiar situation, and she was shocked, just like Alex.
“F-Father…” Zahara stammered the moment she entered her room, sobbing with tear stains on her cheeks. She found out, much to her shock, that her father, who was supposed to be ruling their kingdom, was sitting on her desk with a smile, as if waiting for her, only to have his grin vanish the moment he saw the look on his daughter’s face.
He moved, and with a woosh, he was standing right in front of Zahara, frowning with a cold expression on his face, “Who?”
That was all he asked. His face, sharp and angular, mature yet not wrinkled, seemed colder than ice right now, and his eyes, red like Zahara’s, burned with endless fury.
He had never seen his daughter, who’s always been cheery and jumpy, cry like this.
And Zahara, finding the familiar presence looming over her, looking at her with worry in his eyes, couldn’t stop as her tears burst out again, and her lips, moving on their own, began reciting everything that had happened today.
