Chapter 68: CHAPTER 67 – Anger of a Father.
“Do you think I won’t kill you?”
After a long silence and staredown between Alex and Reganath, with Alex held by his neck having a hard time breathing and Reganath glaring at him, the Simharian finally growled.
His anger was clear in his eyes—Alex didn’t even need to ask the reason for that.
‘Did Zahara call for him?’
That thought flashed past his mind a lot of times, but knowing her, she would probably just cry, not turn to her father, who can obviously overpower Alex for help.
‘So, he was here from the start…’ Alex concluded.
Things like these were not mentioned in the plot; more like, nothing about Zahara was mentioned in the plot until a while later, so it was hard to tell. But her father being in the council building was a major issue, especially when he came unannounced and is now holding the vice president of the council by his throat.
“Do. You. Think…” Reganath, on the other hand, had his fury grow the more Alex ignored him. He gripped Alex’s neck harder as he continued, “…I won’t kill you?”
His tone turned increasingly ominous as his nails extended, piercing Alex’s neck a bit in a threatening manner, making a trickle of blood flow down, and his flowing mane-like hair started to get denser and wilder.
Alex, however, remained calm, his eyes unflinched as he answered, “Yes.”
“You!” Reganath, hearing that answer, had his eyes widen in shock before anger took over and his grip on Alex’s neck tightened.
Crack
A light crack filled the room, and this time, even Alex couldn’t control his expression as it morphed in anguish.
“Ghhhhhh!!!”
His bone was now cracked a bit, and even being held like this was now painful, but he didn’t roar in pain. That would make him look weak—the last thing he wanted right now.
“That…” Taking a deep breath, he spoke, finding even that strenuous as his vocal cord seemed to be the thing that had cracked. “…was 1/5th of your kingdom’s life…”
He paused again, gritting his teeth as he added, “…that you just crushed.”
Those words, however, froze Reganath in his spot, making his mind go blank for a second. “…what did you say?” He questioned with a pause, his gaze trembling as he tried to deny that he had heard it right.
Alex just stared back in reply, his fists clenched as he tried to cope with the pain. He was too lazy to repeat the same thing again. That too, with his throat still giving him a searing pain.
“…are you threatening me?” Reganath questioned again, taking Alex’s silence as an acceptance, his face moving dangerously closer to Alex, his sharp canine teeth elongating as he growled at him with a dangerous light flashing in his fiery light.
Alex, however, still remained silent, not speaking a word, and the tension in the air increased by folds.
Reganath, looking at this, couldn’t control his anger and…
Dun
A pressure directly descended on Alex, making his expression freeze before it contorted in pain.
“GHHHH!!!” He growled again, his body shivering in pain as his gaze turned into a glare, and Reganath finally had a wide grin stretched across his face, laughing coldly.
“Yeah…” He breathed as his nails dug deeper into Alex’s neck, making Alex’s eyes widen a bit more as he groaned again, but Reganath just grinned wider. “That’s the look I wanted to see.”
But just then…
“Who is that?!”
“How dare you use violence against the vice president of the student council?!”
Two voices were heard from the door of the cabin, yelling at Reganath with righteousness filling their voice. They were the teachers that Theron and Fenna had seen, and these two teachers, unlike their demeanor right now, had just wanted to ignore the ruckus they could feel, but when they realized who the one in danger was, they quickly changed their minds.

They couldn’t feel the power of the person holding Alex, nor could they see the face of the person since the mana pressure wasn’t falling over them. They just wanted to gain Alex’s favor by saving him from danger.
But as they saw the Reganath turning his head, their faces started to lose color; by the time he had turned toward them, they were already on the ground, crawling back in fear.
It was not just because they knew who Reganath was but also because of the look he had right now. His face, although wearing a grin, was a clear indication of his rage.
“R-Reganath… what are you—”
One of them, trembling in fear, tried to question his Reganath about his purpose here, but before he could…
Squelch
The other teacher heard the guy’s speech cut short, and he turned to look at the guy, only to see Reganath standing right next to the teacher with his claws plunged into the guy’s face and blood trickling down his hand.
“W-WHA—!”
The other teacher, in fear, tried to run away, or maybe call for help, but again, before he could even see it…
Cough—!
His gaze turned to look at his chest, only to see his own heart, grabbed by a hand that was protruding from the front, blood filling his mouth, but before he could cough again, the fist clenched hard, crushing the heart with it, and the guy’s eyes dimmed.
Thud
He fell to the ground. Dead.
And Reganath, with his hand drenched with those two teachers’ blood, turned toward Alex, who was now sitting with his back against the wall, drinking a healing potion, as he held his neck, trying to stop the blood from flowing out, and he laughed again.
“Does it hurt?” Reganath questioned, moving closer to Alex, not stopping him from taking the healing potion as it wasn’t a problem. He didn’t want Alex to die, after all.
His expression then turned cold as he added, “My daughter was hurt more than you are hurting right now.”
Alex, on the other hand, stared coldly at the king of the Simharian kingdom, making up his mind on what to do. He gave the guy a chance by using his kingdom’s name. He wasn’t going to kill them, but he thought that as a king, he would place them higher than his personal feelings, but the guy didn’t.
‘Don’t blame me—’
His hand moved toward his chest, ready to use the only thing he could in this situation, but just then, Sophie’s voice was heard in his head.
[Alex… that girl Zahara loves you. So… don’t kill him.]
The moment Alex heard her words, he sighed. He didn’t need to ask how she knew it. He knew the same thing himself. He had just tried to ignore it for a while, and now, when he could see a chance to make himself the only person she would hate the most, he wanted to do it. He had steeled his heart.
It was better to kill these feelings he was having. He felt the feeling of loss the moment he saw Zahara crying. The way his heart hurt when he realized that he had unintentionally hurt her more than he could’ve.
But Sophie’s words, which she spoke knowing all that he was trying, reminded him of those feelings. Rendering him unable to do what he wanted to a second ago.
So, in an instant, he changed his plan, his gaze still lowered, and he muttered.
“If you continue… she will die.”
That was all he said, but it was enough to freeze Reganath in his spot.
