Chapter 70: CHAPTER 69 – Finally Over?
A while ago, Fenna suddenly felt like she should meet Alex, and after a long internal debate, she decided against it as she could do that later as well, but just then…
Click
She had heard the sound of a door being opened, making her turn toward Zahara’s room, only to see her staring at the broken wall with an expression filled with panic.
Zahara was so deep in her thoughts and emotions that she didn’t even notice Fenna and just rushed toward Alex’s cabin, as she had a very bad feeling about all of this.
The girl had woken up the moment Reganath had punched the wall since the whole building was left shaken at that moment, including Zahara’s cabin.
Fenna, looking at Zahara’s expressions and how she ran toward Alex’s cabin, hurriedly followed. She didn’t know what was happening but she still followed. It was as if her mind was telling her that she should go.
They had heard the screams from the two teachers on the way, making them hasten their steps. Zahara had noticed Fenna by then, but she didn’t care because she was worried about Alex right now.
Zahara had never wanted her father to exact revenge on Alex on her behalf. That wouldn’t even appear in her mind, and even if it did, she was not foolish enough to act on that thought.
Alex was Vanessa’s son. If she came in and did the same thing, then what?
But the moment both of them arrived close to Alex’s cabin, they were left shellshocked. The first thing they saw was blood—a lot of blood—and panic rushed into their heads, forcing them to move faster, hoping that it wasn’t Alex who that blood belonged to.
But even now, when they knew that it wasn’t Alex, the situation looked very bad. Especially with Reganath’s gaze fixed on Fenna with obvious intentions.
“F-Father, please stop…” Zahara, still fearful, as she had never seen her father look this angry, tried to say something, but it was already too late. Reganath was now standing right in front of Fenna, staring down at the girl as her body trembled violently.
But just then, Fenna frowned, and anger bubbled in her eyes.
‘DID HE JUST LOOK DOWN ON ME?!’
This was the only thing going on in her head.
Fenna, at the last moment, when she thought that it was over, saw a condescending light flash past Reganath’s eyes as if he were looking at a pathetically weak person. And that was the last thing you should do against Fenna.
Fenna was a bunari, yet she became the council president—that alone spoke volumes about her strength.
She was the council head even though the people in her race were supposed to be weak, all because she worked harder than anyone out there. She still does. Every single day. And the thing that Fenna hated the most was being looked down upon.
So, even with her body immobile and shivering, her eyes, unlike a second ago, when they were filled with fear, were now staring back with defiance.
Fenna was well aware of the fact that doing this wouldn’t get her anything. No matter what she did, she wouldn’t be able to overcome the gap in their strengths, but she wouldn’t just accept her defeat.
‘I WON’T ACCEPT DEFEAT!’
She roared inside her head, and her muscles started to quiver as if trying to break free of the pressure.
“Oh?”
Those expressions, however, paused Reganath for a moment. He was surprised that a star formation expert could actually resist crumbling in front of his aura—and not a dragon, but a bunari did it. That small period, however, was just enough for Zahara to step between both of them.
“What are you doing, father?!” With her eyes wide in fear, disbelief, and confusion, she barked at Reganath.
“We need to leave, princess. We need to kill all of them and leave—”
Reganath’s eyes softened and his nails retracted the moment he saw Zahara standing protectively in front of Fenna, and Fenna, who could move, although angry, still stayed in her spot as he answered her question with a smile, trying to explain things to her.
He didn’t want Zahara to misunderstand him. He was doing all of this for her after all. He was doing this because he saw her cry, but his words were cut short…
“Haha…” A chuckle was heard, and all of their eyes turned toward Alex, who finally understood what Reganath was trying to do.
For a second, Alex had the desire to kill him the moment he made a move on Fenna. She was someone Alex considered close, and although not close enough for him to consider dying for her, if he had an option, he would save her.

And right now, he had an option, but Zahara’s action saved Reganath.
“You think my mother is not yet informed of what’s happening here?” Alex, with a grin on his face, looked deep into Reganath’s eyes, holding the pendant he had on him since childhood in front, showing it to Reganath.
‘N-No way…’ Reganath, knowing completely well what it was, widened his eyes. It was a famous artifact, with many of its replicas going around. One of which was on Zahara as well.
Reganath himself had brought it for Zahara in order to keep in touch with her no matter where they were. Yes, it worked for a particular range only, but everyone knew that Vanessa was living in Originveil City as well!
If what Alex said was true and Vanessa was already made aware of what was happening, then there was no point in killing more people. He needed to run away from here. Right this moment!
But just as he was about to run away, his eyes widened. ‘Zahara!’ He exclaimed inwardly, his gaze snapping toward Zahara, who was still standing in front of Fenna, staring at him with uncertainty.
‘I need to take her away.’ Reganath, with a determined gaze, moved toward Zahara, wanting to take her away from this city.
After all that he had done and knowing that Vanessa was on her way here, he didn’t think leaving Zahara here would be a good idea, but the moment he moved toward her, he saw her body recoil, making him pause in his tracks.
‘W-Why?’ The same question appeared in Reganath’s mind when he saw Zahara moving away from him, and by now, it was Fenna who was standing in front of Zahara as if she thought that she could protect his daughter when she couldn’t even protect herself.
Alex, looking at all of this, sighed inwardly, speaking up again.
“Go back, Reganath.” His voice reached everyone clearly as he slowly stood up. “Just go back, and I will pretend that this never happened.”
Reganath heard his words loud and clear, and so did Fenna and Zahara. The look of defeat in Alex’s eyes showed that he wasn’t scheming something but really not wanting to continue this.
“I bear no hostility against Zahara or you, and neither do you have to.” Alex stepped forward, walking toward Zahara and Fenna with slow and cautious steps as he still wasn’t sure when and what Reganath would do.
“There won’t be another instance where she ever cries. I will never let any harm come her way. I give you my word, Reganath.” Alex, looking into Zahara’s swollen eyes, spoke those words with a sad yet resolute smile, making all three—Zahara, Fenna, and Reganath—their eyes widen.
“I will make up for what happened today, trust me.” As Alex spoke those words, he walked past Reganath, moving toward Zahara and Fenna, who were still shocked by his declaration.
His words clearly meant that he was indirectly proposing to Zahara, and slowly, tears started to pool up in Zahara’s eyes, but she hadn’t moved yet. Her father was still here, and his expression wasn’t perceivable as his wild and flowing hair was now covering half of his face.
Alex, however, didn’t care about Reganath’s presence anymore. He had already said all he wanted to, and if the guy still didn’t listen, then he would have to do the last thing he could right now.
By then, he had reached Zahara, as Fenna had stepped aside, letting him walk close to her, and with his fingers, he tucked her hair behind her ear and spoke with a wistful smile, “I’m sorry, Zahara.”
They were simple words. Alex had said those words before as well, but right now, he really meant it. It was clear from his eyes how sorry he was.
Zahara, on the other hand, just lowered her head, gripping the helm of her skirt as tears dropped down her eyes. She was happy, but all of her frustration from before needed to go out.
“D-Dummy…” This was all she could mutter, and Alex, with a soft smile, pulled her in a hug and repeated his words, “I really am sorry, Zahara.”
